My imessage stopped using apple dictionary
my iphone 5s was updated to ios 8, and i lost the definitions feature on imessage. when i go to manage, it will not let me select the apple dictionary or any other.
I tried turning phone on and off, and syncing with itunes, no change. Is there a way to redownload the dictionari
No system outages reported for iMessage. If you go into Settings, is iMessage activated? Are you connected to an active Internet connection, either by cellular data or wi-fi? Both parties for an iMessage need to have an active Internet data connection, and if one or the other loses connection, the message can fail. What user troubleshooting have you tried for this?

The reason why the Tap-Dictionary does not work with iOS7 is because iOS7 is failing to make the required Bookmarklet. When one presses the "click here" to integrate the Tap-Dictionary with Safari it is supposed to make a Bookmarklet in the Bookmark folder. You can check this by going through your bookmarks and noting its absence. Fortunately it is possible to generate your own Bookmarklet. Rather than go to a long explanation on how to do it, here is a link to a page where the explanation has already been given.

When the Bookmarklet has been made and placed in the bookmarks folder just go to the page you want the definition of and select the bookmark you've just generated to activate it and a tap on any word will show a pop up definition in yellow. -
I am currently deployed and was using my iMessage to be able to talk to family back in the states and my iMessage stopped working. It will no longer select my number to use as the send/receive. How do I fix this so I can continue to talk to family?

when i take my sim out it completely disables imessageTo remove a phone number from an Apple ID, sign out of FaceTime and Messages on your iPhone:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
This should remove your phone number from other devices using the same Apple ID with FaceTime and Messages. If the phone number is still available on other devices after you sign out of FaceTime and iMessage on the iPhone, you may need to sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your devices, then sign in to FaceTime and Messages again on devices you want to use. -
iMessage stopped working on iOS 5.1.1 after I set up a new Apple ID. After logging in, it keeps cycling back to the "create ID" screen. Apple's verified my new ID. I've reset the iPod (3) times--no luck.
I solved my problem by Resetting my iPod and then Restoring my files. Only speed bump was losing two apps in the Restore, as the current versions now require iOS 7.1, minimum. Apple makes Reset and Restore (two processes) painless with these Help articles: "Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings," and "Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch using iCloud or iTunes." The Restore took a while to synch my photos and iTunes libraries.

I changed my Apple ID and then my imessages stopped working. I have logged out of the Icloud on my 5s and logged back in under the new apple id. No imessages on the ipad or phone. Any suggestions
You can only update the apps using the original ID and details you provided to buy the apps in the first place. You cannot merge IDs.

Please help me and tell how can I stop using my primary Apple ID (Gmail) but leave my secondary Apple ID (icloud) as primary ond only ONE?
I started using Apple ID in 2011 when iCloud was not exist and was forced to use non-apple e-mail adress as primary ID.
So I used GMail mailbox.
When iCloud was started I created my account but unfortunatelly can't remove this Gmail address from my Apple ID and replace it with icloud mail address.
I was VERY dissapointed because I don't want to use "outside" mailbox to get letters from Apple and ny ID.
In fact I see the Apple old users and fans discrimination.
When creating new user accounts are free to create a box on the iCloud mail and use it as a primary ID, and the only ONE.
At the same time the old user is obliged to keep third-party mail box like Gmail etc. as the primary and can not get such an opportunity, as a new user
This is extremely inconvenient and a VERY strange logical.
For example, now I want to stop using this mailbox on Gmail but I can not do that because in this case I lose access to my ID, or run the risk that someone in the future will create a box with the same name on Gmail (when name will be free and available) and will automatically get access to my accounts on Apple and to my Apple ID.
Now, to avoid this, your team, I offer the only way out: ID, create anew.
Of course it's possible, but then:
- I lose all my purchases for 3 years and will be forced to make them again and pay money for the second time for my purchases
- Lose access to the familiar iCloud e-mail address who now serves as secondary ID because this e-mail address is almost no longer available and will never be released in future.
And now answer me for ONLY TWO questions:
- WHERE IS LOGIC?
- WHAT ABOUT TO BE FRIENDLY FOR YOUR USERS AND FANS?

Hopefully for your GOOD answers.You cannot make your @icloud.com address the login address for the ID. However you can change your ID, currently a Gmail one, to any other functioning non-Apple email address. The Gmail address would then no longer access your account, and so even if someone were to obtain posession of it (is that even possible) it wouldn't allow them to get into your account.
If you want to change your ID to another email address please follow the procedure outlined below, particularly noting the first step.
Firstly, if you have 'Find My iPhone/iPad/iMac' enabled on any of your devices, turn it off.
Create a new email address, for example at Yahoo or Gmail, or anywhere convenient (or you can use an existing address as long as it has never been associated with an Apple ID).
Go to http://appleid.apple.com and click 'Manage your Apple ID'. Sign in with the current ID.
Where it says 'Apple ID and primary email address' and gives your current ID email address, click 'edit'.
Enter your new address and click 'Save changes'.
Now you will need to go to each of your devices and sign out in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud - 'Sign out' on a Mac, 'Delete this account' on an iOS device (this will not delete the account from the server).
Then sign back in with your new ID. Your iCloud data will disappear from your devices when you sign out, but reappear when you sign back in.
I re-iterate: before you start, turn off 'Find My Mac' (or whatever) or you will need the services of Support. -
I have bought a new macbook pro retina 13. I am not too familiar with Mac yet. I had an apple account with my iphone 4 which I stopped using a month ago. Now when I was trying to download the apps from that account but I dont know how to do this and I am unable to do so. I would be grateful if anyone can advise me with regards to this?
You cannot download the same Apps that you have on your iPhone. They are two seperate stores.
The store you have on your iPhone is the same for any iDevice (iPad, iPhone and iPod)
The store on your MacBook is only for Macs. -
Apple ID - Two Factor Authentication (and why I stopped using it)
The Apple devices I use every day consist of the following:
2009 MacBook Pro 17" (home)
iPhone 6 (home)
2012 MacBook Pro Retina (work)
My home devices are all logged in using my Apple ID as usual, and my work laptop uses a Apple ID specific to work, but with my personal Apple ID logged in for iMessage and FaceTime (pretty standard, I presume, for people with full-time work laptops they can bring home, etc.). Now, since I have multiple devices which are constantly syncing everything back and forth, whether it be something as simple as my contacts or as delicate and near and dear to my heart as my photo collection, I felt that maybe I should use two factor authentication for my home Apple ID, just to be on the safe side. I recognize that the two factor authentication only protects iMessage and FaceTime currently, but I implemented it with hopes that someday they will incorporate everything about iCloud and other services synced between Apple devices that you would assume should be covered by a two factor authentication update/overhaul.
I liked this idea very much, as I use two factor for almost everything I can, but things started to fall apart one day when I had to switch to a temporary work laptop and decided to log in to iMessage with a new app specific password, as you would need to on a new device (unless you wrote down the original iMessage password, which is a terrible thing to do). When I went to create my new iMessage password for work laptop B, I decided to revoke work laptop A's iMessage password while it went in for repairs. This wasn't so bad until something seemed funny about my phone, as it was asking for me to log into iMessage again. Now, I had created a separate password for work laptop A's iMessage when I first logged in a while back, as well as a separate password for the temporary work laptop B so it didn't interfere with my other generated passwords. Apparently this didn't matter.
I continued and created a new app password for my phone, but when I got home, wouldn't you know it, I had to log into iMessage on my home laptop again as well. I had to create a new password for that, which seemed to work for a while, but then I was prompted to enter my iMessage password on my phone again once I revoked my home laptop's iMessage password. Not following? No, me either. It seemed to me that creating separate app specific passwords for me to use across my devices didn't stay as separate as I thought they should, but instead they somehow seemed to be dependent on one another. Since I had a frustrating time trying to activate iMessage again on my iPhone and laptops on multiple occasions while this was happening, I decided to disable two factor authentication altogether.
I suppose I should ask a question here, so here goes: has anyone else encountered this horrific two factor authentication/app specific password management issue for their own account? Have you been able to resolve it, and if so, any helpful suggestions? Thanks!I had also thought that initially, but after turning it on, I went to sign into iMessage with my Apple ID and regular Apple ID password, but it prompted me to create an app specific password to sign in since I had two factor authentication on, as it wouldn't let me use my regular Apple ID password to log in (which I could use to log in for everything else but iMessage and FaceTime). It was nice since I was prompted to provide a code sent to an Apple device of my choosing when signing into the Apple ID management site or iCloud.com, but forcing me to create app specific passwords for iMessage and FaceTime is kind of ridiculous and frustrating. Maybe there's a way to have two factor authentication without the need for app specific passwords? Or if not, then perhaps that would be a great option to present users when turning that feature on.

I stopped using iCloud after another family member received all my contacts. Now I want to restart using iCloud. How do I prevent this happening again? We share the same Apple id password and credit card but different usernames.
If two of you shared the same contacts you were logged in with the same Apple ID. In order to avoid this you need to use different Apple IDs, and be using separate Macs or separate user accounts on the same Mac.
One or other of you should create a new Apple ID at http://appleid.apple.com for which you will need a non-Apple email address which hasn't been associated with another Apple ID. -
sice upgrading from IOS 6 to IOS 7 I can longer receive imessage messagaes using my email that is linked to a different apple id than the one i use for my app store purcahses and icloud account.
Am I missing a setting or has this option now been removed from IOS 7?
Apple please bring this option back!!!!
I would like even more options such as everyone in the family sharing the same find my iphone apple id, spearate ids for imessage, share app store, spearate icloud docs and phot stream but shared icloud storage.

AnthonyIf you know the answers to your security questions, you should be able to change your password without using email authentication (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HE36). If you don't, you may be out of luck.

How do i stop using imessage on my new macbook pro
I am using icloud on my iphone 5, macbook pro and old iphone 4. Sometimes i recive my imessgaes on all my devices and sometimes I don't recive them on any device. To make it easiler for me how can i stop using imessage on my macbook pro and iphone 4. Some people have suggested to me in the past that if i go onto my iphone>settings>messages and them something about where is can recive the imessages, i can never find it. Thank you.

Hi when I stream video content to my Tv using Apple tv from my Ipad3 I find the Ipad goes to sleep after 2/3 minutes and disconects, the only way I have found to stop this is to continually tap the Ipad screen but there has to be a simpler method/ any help would be most welcome.
