My iMessage won't let me change/add my phone number to send iMessages, only sends from iCloud email??

my imessage shows my old phone # and my iCloud email to send messages but my old # is blocked out so I can't delete or choose it , only lets me use my icloud for iMessages and it's driving me nuts!!

Hi Tyeisha1,
This article has some information about using your phone number with iMessage:
iOS: Using Messages
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3529
You can change the address that new iMessage conversations are started with in Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Start new conversations from:. Note that this setting applies only to new conversations. If you would like to change the address from which messages are sent, first change this setting, and then delete the existing conversation and start a new one.
iMessage responses will be sent from the address the recipient most recently messaged. For example, a friend sends you a message to your Apple ID. Responses in this conversation will be sent from your Apple ID, even if you've selected new conversations to start from your phone number.
Cheers,
- Ari

  • Is it possible for a person to add your phone number into their imessage on an ipad without a notification popping up on your number?

I have a suspicion that someone has added my phone number into their imessage and can read all my texts with no notification sent to my phone.  Is it possible to add a phone number to your imessage without that device getting a notification?

I use multiple iOS devices at my house, on my two (phone and ipad) I have my family AppleID we use for all purchases as my iMessage userid, on my wifes iPad we made a new ID Just for her messaging and installed that.
When she sends me an IM I get it on both devices. When i send to her its only her ipad.

  • IMessage won't allow me to sign into Apple ID and won't let me click on my phone number

I recently had to get a new phone due to damage and so now i had to set up my new phone. while in the process it won't let me sign into my apple ID for iMessages and will not let me click on my phone number to be able to iMessage other people. please help! thank you

Since all the documents are held on iCloud and read from there by your Mac, obviously they will disappear from your Mac (but not the server) when you sign out. They will reappear (give them time) when you sign back in.

  • IMessage won't let me change Apple ID

My husband and I were sharing one Apple ID across two iPhone 4 and his iPad, but ocassionally we would get cross-wired text messages via iMessage. Some one would message him and it would show up on my iPhone instead.
We researched the solution and were told to create a unique Apple ID for my phone and add it to the iMessage.
PROBLEM: When we logged out of his Apple ID on the my iPhone for iMessage and tried using the new Apple ID we created it never seems to get past the login in screen.
Under Messages | Settings | Receive At |
When we select "Use Your Apple ID for iMessage" it comes back with a screen that says Enter Apple ID and a message that says "You were signed out of iMessage because your Apple ID or Password Changed. Sign in to turn on iMessage"
When I enter the new Apple ID we created  it briefly goes to the next screen to confirm what email address you want it use, before it flips back the Enter Apple ID screen. We can't get past this screen.
    Any ideas?

also, i was wondering, while setting up my iphone after the upgrade to ios 6, in one of teh steps when i started using the phone, it asked for teh apple ID password to do soemthing related to icloud, imessenger and facetime. it also gave the option on the phone screen to "skip this step" which i did, i skiped the stem and thought if i wanted to i can go back and do it manually from the settings any time. i think it was something related to downloading new features for the icloud. i messenger and facetime.
could this have been the case? but i mean if i had the option to "skip the step" it means that it is not something drastic and can always be done manually later.
    anyone has feedback?

  • My iMessage is sending from email instead of my phone number. I have tried to change it back by going to settings messages receive at and it won't let me click on my phone number. Please help!!

My IMessage is sending from my email, and I am recieving
Messages thru my email. I have tried to fix this by going to Settings > messaging > recieved at> and my phone number pops up along with my email. It will let me click on my email, but my phone number is greyed out and I can't click on it.i have also tried caller id, which still didn't fix the problem.
Trying to kill two birds with one stone, my phone also says that I have no storage left. I literally have 3 apps installed on my phone. Facebook, Twitter, and instagram. I only have 52 photos, 0 videos, and about 115 songs. I know for a fact that I shouldn't be out of storage, because I have friends with the same iPhone 4, that have 400 pictures, a thousand songs, and page after page of apps. I want to know what is taking up all of the storage, and what can I do to get rid of it. Thank you in advance

  • IPhone 4S iMessage won't activate? Want to use phone number as iMessage instead of email?

The title says it all, please help.

    ACTIVATING FACETIME AND IMESSAGES
Activating Facetime and Imessages on your phone requires the ability to send SMS messages and depending upon where you are that might be an international SMS.  Check with your carrier to see if your plan supports sending of international SMS messages.  If you are having trouble activating Facetime or Imessages turn them both off on your device and reset the device (Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost)).  Wait for the device to restart and wait a minute and turn Facetime and imessage back on and wait for activation.  If that does not fix things read the following articles:

  • Add a phone number to iMessage with an iPod touch?

Hello everyone! I recently bought my iPod touch 5th generation, and I'm loving it. However, I was wondering if I could add a phone number too instead of only an email? I don't see that option anywhere except to add another email. Since lots of people ha e my phone number too, I was hoping I could a phone number as well. Thanks all!! :)

    Sharvin2012,
The only way that people could "call" you through a system app on an iPod touch is through FaceTime. In FaceTime, people contact you by "calling" an email address that you can control in the settings.
Some apps from the App Store might have the ability to call other iOS devices over Wi-Fi.
Adding a phone number in the Contacts app is no problem, if that's what you mean. When editing a contact, it's one of the first few fields.

  • How can I add a phone number to my iPod touch to start new conversation from another number

How can I add a phone number to my start new conversation

    Hello brentfrommt. washington
To add a phone number to your iMessage account, you need to have an iPhone with your phone number on it. Once you sign into iMessage the iPhone it will link to all your devices with that Apple ID. Take a look at the article below for more information.

  • I want to load Firefox on my computer at home, which is not connected to the internet. I want to download Firefox to my flashdrive and then add it to my computer at home. When I try to download Firefox, it won't let me change the path of where it download

I want to download Firefox on a flashdrive so I can then download it to my home computer which is not connected to the internet. When I download Firefox, it won't let me change the path and so tries to download on a public computer, which isn't allowed. The reason I want it on my home computer is because I'm creating web pages and I want to view my html pages using a variety of browsers, including Firefox.

From another computer, go to http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/, click "Free download" button, click "Save File" button, select your flash drive in "Save as" window. "Firefox Setup 3.6.13.exe" file will be saved in your flash drive.
You just need to insert it in your new computer and double-click on "Firefox Setup 3.6.13.exe" from Windows Explorer and follow instructions.

  • Why won't my iMessage let my add my phone number?

I am new to iPhone and can't get my IMessage to use my phone number as a receive at point. All the how to's I've read about it says you can. Someone please help.

Ok. I have iMessage working as an email based messaging system.  Unfortunately it wont let me add my phone number as a "receive at" location.  My phone number is on my phone under the general-phone-my number, and it is also listed in my contacts and set as settings-mail,contacts,calenders-my info. Please give any advise on how to either fix this problem or reset only iMessage so I can start over.

  • My iPad is getting iMessages from a past user and won't let me add my phone number. Help!

    Hello,
I recently was gifted an iPad 3 from my boyfriend to use as I please, since he got a new one.  I also recently got an iPhone 5.  He had the ipad set up to his phone number, and when I logged his apple ID out of setting>apples&itunes and put mine in, and also went to settings>messages>and added my apple account info, it only gives me a check mark for my email, and not one for my phone number.
When it was logged into his account, he had a checkmar I next to his email and his phone number, so he would receive all his iMessages through his ipad. I don't see anywhere to add a phone number.  Anyone have any ideas why this isn't working?
    I hope that made sense.
    Thank you!!!
