My Imessage wont use my number
ive tried everything! Every time i try to imessage, it dosent select my phone number, i tried rebooting and backups and resseting but the number is not ticked!
iMessage is either not activated on or not supported by your carrier. If you don't use an official iPhone carrier, it may not support iMessage. In that case you can't send from your phone number, only email addresses.
Try:
Settings > Messages > iMessage > OFF > ON IF that doesn't help, your carrier doesn't support iMessage

is there a way to text someone on iMessage without using your number on an iphone ? there's someone i want to text but it's long distant an ik not sure about giving my number to them just yet. so is there a way to send them a message from iMessage on my iPhone rather then using my number ? please let me know ASAP !
Sending an iMessage with your phone number does not matter whether it is long distance phone call or not. That has no bearing on how iMessage works. iMessages from the phone that is activated with the phone number will send from the phone number.

TS4268 iMessage on ipad wont use phone number
When I configure the iPad to use my apple ID for FaceTime and iMessage (per tech doc), it does not pull in my phone number...just email address. So I don't get iMessages on my iPad when people send to my phone number. Works on my iphone but not ipad. How do I resolve this??

How do I get my imessage to use my number instead of my apple ID?
Since I updated to iOS7 both my iMessages and Facetime doesn't work. They say, "Waiting for activation...". Most of the people that text have iPhones, and they all have iMessaging but me. I have another concern with my apps, they aren't telling me when I have notifications. And lastly I dont have Siri. Can someone help me with all of this?

I can't get my iMessage to use my number
My iMessages will only send thru email. It won't let me click my number
Change it.
Settings > Messages > Receive At > Caller ID > Select the appropriate option. -
If my phone service is disconnected, can I still use the number to iMessage? Under my setting in iMessages it only allows me to select my linked emails and the telephone number is there but grayed out and i can't seletect it ! It wont activate. I just recentely got AT&T. When I had verizon before and my phone got disconnected it allowed me to still iMessage off my number.
If your phone service is disconnected, it's not your number any more.
If you "just got AT&T", how can it be disconnected? -
I have a friend who uses an iPod to iMessage me and about two nights ago, my messages to him from my iPhone were no longer listed as delivered and then I started getting the message "Contact is unavailable. This person cannot be reached by iMessage at this time." I have my main iMessage email and phone number linked to my iPhone. I decided to try messaging him from an iPad that only has my iMessage email linked to it, and the iPad gave me a message saying his email is not linked to an iMessage account. After that, I tried ANOTHER iPad. This one runs iOS 5 and has a separate iMessage email linked to it and the messages were not listed as delivered, but they did not give me a failure message. I unlinked my main iMessage email from my phone and linked the secondary iMessage email to it. I still got the first message about the contact being unavailable when I attempted to send a message from my iPhone. Then, I messaged him again from the iPad running iOS 5, and the message I sent showed up on my iPhone and was listed as delivered. Is it possible this friend has blocked me? He has not messaged me for two days. I was under the impression a block would simply result in my messages being listed as delivered, not that the contact would be unavailable or that his email is not linked to an iMessage account. Is there any way to force my iPhone to send messages to him using only my iMessage email and not cell phone number? Is this actually a fluke and he has deleted his iMessage account, but the iPad running iOS 5 did not recognize that? But why would my iphone list the messages as delivered then?
After much research went with Comcast. Package includes 12mbs, phone service, all premium channels, 2 HD dvrs, 1 HD receiver. After promos end I will be paying more, but I'm getting more. Customer service before purchase and installation phenomenal. I actually set up order over phone instead of online because of the customer service. No complaints about Direct TV, but canceeling them also because from having to shop for new Isp resulted in this. My speedtest now says I am 85% faster than most of the U.S. I am very happy. I would consider my verizon problem solved. Oh, free router also.

Help! I received a message on my iPhone that "phone Number Added to iPad4 [NAME of IPAD] is now using [PHONE NUMBER] for FaceTime and iMessage" and it is not my iPad!! What do I do, how do I shut them out??

Hi guys, so we have 2 iPhones in my house, both on the same Apple ID so that my mum and I can share everything. I have just got an iPad mini, and would like to use iMessage on it with my phone number, but the iPad only picks up other more recently added number (not mine, my mums) when I go to message settings. Is there a way to make the iPad default to other number?

Hi, I want to use my number for iMessage on my iPhone only and on my macbook pro use my apple id/email and not my number, how do i do that? before i updated my phone thats what it was like but now that ive updated i dont know how to change it. I tried that but on my iphone i can only click on my email and my number is checked but its in grey doesnt allow me click on it and on my Mac, its the opposite, my email is checked but in grey so doesnt allow me to click on it. im realy confused

I just bought an android phone and the previous owner of the number had an iphone and imessage wont work, how do I fix that?
I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S4, and my wife has an iphone. We found out that imessage wont come through from her. After we went to the AT&T helpdesk they said that she could turn off imessage on her phone and that I would get texts on my S4. But then so would everyone else who has an iphone. That won't work for everyone in my company that has an iphone. So what I am wondering is- since I recently got this phone, should I get a new number? Or should I contact ATT or contact Apple to try and get this number de-activated? I'm thinking I'll never get into the icloud account that this number is attached to, but maybe someone has some advice on that?
I just sincerely want imessage to work on this phone and I'm willing to take the steps to do that.
Please helpEither one of the two should work - getting new number from carrier or contacting Apple to revoke phone number from imessage system.
