My imessages still go to deactivated iphone.

I have upgraded from my iPhone 4 to an Android device but my texts still come to the old phone through iMessage... How do i change that so that they come to the new phone?

    Hi morganjeremyd!
No worries! I can help you, so you will no longer receive iMessages, since you just changed to an Android. Just send a text message to 48369 and just put the word STOP in the body of the message. This will deactivate the iMessage.
Thank you,

  • Iphone 5 imessage still on after deactivation?

so i recently sent in my phone to get fixed.. not to an apple retailer but to a repair shop. everything was fine up until last night. i had activated my old android device while my iphone gets fixed. i was having a conversation with a friend who also has an iphone and noticed that they had stopped replying. i have an ipod as well so i texted them through imessage and asked if they were getting my messages.
they snapshotted our conversation, and to my surprise they had sent me multiple texts through i message. i couldnt understand how or why if my phone had been deactivated? ive read all the forums on here about this. but im kind of stuck because i dont have access to the phone. i dont know how many texts ive been receiving to my iphone. ive tried changing my apple id password, removing my device through itunes, having my friend delete my number and add it again, and i cant remove it from the support link everyone is posting as a solution, because i forgot to add the device when i first purchased it. help?!?

  • NO LONGER USING IPHONE BUT FRIENDS TEXTS GOING THROUGH AS IMESSAGES STILL

    IMESSAGE HELP PLEASE:
I have recently ugraded my phone from an iPhone 3G to a Nokia. I still own the iphone but am just using it as an ipod. There is no sim in it, wifi disabled, imessages disabled, apple ID deactivated, icloud deactivated. However, I am not receiving text messaged from friends and family who have iphones as they are automatically going through as imessages on their phones. They have to then manually resend it as a text message. Why is this happening? They have deleted old message thread and my number and re-imput it but still no joy. They are not going through to the old iphone because I have disabled everything so they are just getting lost in space. It is frustrating for the other users as they have to keep resending messages. What more should I or they be doing for the messages to stop sending as imessages. Thanks

Sure you can. Whether your phone is in warranty or not, or how old it is, has no bearing on your ability to call AppleCare. So, if you want to fix this, call them.

my brother gave me his iphone and i activated it with my phone number but i can not receive any message and i notice that  on iMessage stills appears his phone number, what do i have to do?

Launch iTunes on your computer, plug the phone in & on the "Summary Pane", select "Restore". This will restore the phone to factory settings with all of your son's stuff gone. You can now use it as an iPod touch. To do this REQUIRES the deactivated sim card be still installed in the phone.

  • Imessage/facetime waiting for activation problem on a deactivated iphone 5

    Hello people(:
I was just wondering if anyone out there know how to fix the waiting for activation problem for iPhone 5 on 6.1.4
My iPhone 5 is deactivated so it has no service on it. It has a sim card but the sim card doesn't have service and I'm guessing thats the problem.
But i just wanna make sure that it is or if anyones got a solution.
    Thanks(:
    Need answers please

Well I did a restore of my iPhone 5 (deactivated) using my last iPhone 6 backup (activated) and iMessage still failed to activate.  It's funny because this worked on my old iPhone 4.  I don't know what else I did different.
Does anyone know why Apple does this?  Why are they against us using iMessage on a deactivated iPhone?

  • How do i use imessage and facetime on my deactivated iphone 4

I got the new iphone 5s and so now my iphone 4 is deactivated. I am trying to let my sister use my deactive iphone 4 in wifi to facetime and imessage me. How do I do that?

What do you mean by deactivated? If you just mean it no longer has a sim card the 4 will work as it did except make phone calls.

    Hi,
There have been no updates recently.
You would also know if the computer had stopped for an Update.
On the Mac in the Contacts App in the Contacts Menu > Accounts is it shown to be using iCloud to Sync the info between all devices ?

    Hello, Toro Silva.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
The steps in the section labeled Unable to activate FaceTime or iMessage with phone number and Apple ID after waiting 24 hours (iPhone only) of the article below, should help resolve the issue.  Make sure to create a current backup prior to processing these steps.

  • Blocked text msg on carrier would imessage still work between iphones

So I am wanting to get an iphone 5. My family plan on Verizon does not have Texting actually it is blocked. Would imessage still work between iphone on wifi and 4g?

They're not phones, thus they don't activate either iMessage or FaceTime for your phone number, only the Apple ID. That's why. IF you don't use your phone number, you should be able to activate using just your Apple ID, but as it is a phone, I suspect it will get stuck trying to activate using the phone number. You could try activating with the sim removed...in essence activate as an iPod touch.

  • I have iPad, my wife's iPone 4 and my new iPhone 4s all on iOS 5 and using the same Apple account. That is convenient in many ways except I can't use iMessage from my iPad and iPhone to my wife's iPhome. Any solution?

When iMessage is enabled on all 3 devices, they just seem to mirror all iMessage conversations on all of them. Can I configure iMessage for my wife's iPhone such that it becomes a separate entity with that respect while staying on the same Appte account with other our devices?

Actually, there is a solution, and it sounds to go against what you want until you realize how well it works.
Seperate Apple IDs is the solution, but you can granularly sign into different things with different IDs.  Now, I'm in the exact same situation as you and saw the exact same problem.  Here was our solution:
    1) Create new Apple IDs for everyone that didn't already have one.  This meant my wife and daughter needed new IDs.
    2) Go into Settings -> Message and select "Receive At..."
    3) Change the Apple ID in iMessage on a per-device basis to the new ID for who ever owns that device.  For example, the new ID for my wife went on her phone, same with my daughter.
Apple IDs are free, and you don't have to change the ID on every part of your phone.  For example, we still have the generic family ID on iCloud and the store, but we have our own unique ones signed in on iMessage and Game Center.  From what I can tell, this is the best of both worlds.

  • How is iMessage used on iPad and iPhone?

I have set up iMessage on my iPad and iPhone, but still don't know how it is used.  I tried sending a message, but after entering the contact of the person, send doesn't seem to be highlighted.  What could be the problem?

From an iPad, iMessage will only work between another iOS device or OS X computer.  So if the recipient does not have an iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch or Mac computer (and must have it set up to use messages) then it will not work.
On an iPhone, you can still send a message as an SMS to another mobile phone (ie. a mobile phone other than an iPhone) as long as you have the option "Send as SMS" enabled.  If the iPhone detects the "to:" address as registered to another iOS device, it will use Apple's services and send as an iMessage, otherwise it will send as SMS (if possible).

  • How do I stop my deactivated iPhone 4 from constantly asking me to sign in to iCloud?

    Aloha!
    And HELP!
Since I upgraded to an iPhone5s I would like to use my deactivated iPhone 4 for the music that is still on it but it's constantly prompting for my iCloud password. There is no longe any service so this "feature" is most annoying.  Hopefully someone knows how to make it stop.

Hi Peter, unfortunately you have to delete the account. If you don't remember the password anymore, then please go to https://iforgot.apple.com/ to reset the password.

  • Message sent as iMessage instead of text for iPhone without data

My iPhone does not have data. When I am in a wifi zone iMessage works and texts are received. When I am not in wifi, anyone who sends me a text from an iPhone using iMessage does not come through. Is there a setting where iMessages get automatically changed to text messages when receiving messages

    Hey there lg2222,
It sounds like you are not getting iMessages from other people when not connected to Wi-Fi. I would first do these steps, if you have not already:
The first step to resolving an issue with iMessage is to update your iOS software and your carrier settings to the latest versions. If iMessage still has an issue, follow the steps below for your issue.
Then use these troubleshooting steps to help isolate and resolve the issue:
To resolve issues with sending and receiving iMessages, follow these steps
Check iMessage system status for current service issues.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and make sure that you registered iMessage with your phone number or Apple ID and that you selected iMessage for use. If the phone number or Apple ID isn't available for use, troubleshoot iMessage registration.
Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify data connectivity. If a data connection isn't available, troubleshoot cellular data or a Wi-Fi connection.
iMessage over cellular data might not be available while you're on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn which network your phone supports. If your network doesn't support simultaneous data and voice calls, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi on to use iMessage while you're on a call.
    Restart your device.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
If you still can't send or receive an iMessage, follow these steps
Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
Make sure that the contact you're trying to send a message to is registered with iMessage.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact in the Contacts app. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
Back up and restore your device as new.

  • Activation Unsuccessful and waiting (iMessage and FaceTime) on an iPhone 4s.

My iPhone 4s is fully up to date. I have had it around 6 months and generally has been good.
Unfortunately today I could not send a picture through iMessage (I was at home using the wifi at the time), so i proceded to turn it off and back on again. This then lead to me looking at iMessage and it would not turn on.
Firstly it said Activation unsccessful and after turning it on and off it now says that it is waiting. I have restored all netwrok settings and done various other things suggested such as checking my number is correct and the time zone is set automatically.
After all this I still had no use, so I looked at my facetime, turned it on and off, and now I have lost that too. I can send SMS's and recieve them. I can also recieve calls, but I have now got no iMessege and FaceTime which is very annoying.
If anyone has an further ideas of what to try, I'd be most greatful.

Hi you guys, four days ago my FT and iMessage worked well on my iPhone 5 IOS6.1.3,but my phone Number did not in the caller ID loop,so I turned both of them off, when I wanted to turn it on again, but failed,I tried so many times, but make no difference,It shows me"waiting for activation".Then I found the solution on internet, and you know there are many possible solutions, just like:
1.change the wifi DNS to 8.8.8.8,8.8.4.4.and you must turn your cellular ON.
2.restore the phone setting.Settings>>General>>reset>>all the phone setting.
3.restore the network setting.Setting>>General>>reset>>the network setting.
    3.reset the network.
    4.reset your Date&time.Setting>>Date&Time>>set automaticlly>>ON.
    5.change another network to activate.
6.take out the sim card to activate.
    I did everything,but nothing happend,it still"waiting for activation"
And today afternoon,i try to activate again, when i turn iMessage on,it activate successfully.OMG,it is really amazing.and the same to my Facetime.
I am so exciting and strange how it happen...
I followed all the setting above 1.2.3.4.5.6,the only difference is i turned the "enable 3G" OFF(Settings>>General>>Cellular Data>>Enable 3G>>OFF),but it keep ON before now.
seriously,i am not sure if the "enable 3G"causes this problem, but it really happened to me,so you guys can try if you have the same problem,
hope my answer if helpful for you.
