My imovie videos, once clear, are suddenly fuzzy/blurry.

My imovie videos, which I was working with earlier in the day, are suddenly lower resolution. What's the deal?

I have that problem along with a fish eye look to my video at times. I don't know if this is something caused by image stabilization software or what? I've lately taken the time to do side by side comparrisons with my old 720p flip video and the flip video unfortunately is beating the 4s as far as quality goes, hands down. I'm a litlle dissapointed in this but I guess I have to keep in mind that is a cell phone camera...I no longer rely on my 4s to take video I want to do something with...Good luck with the 3Gs, I would think that if you associate that device with iTunes you should be okay...but I'm no expert.

Fuzzy/blurry text in Pages documents (tables)

Hi,
I was wondering if any of you guys have experienced this problem:
I upgraded to Pages 13 a while ago. Whenever I print text that is in a table, the letters are slightly fuzzy/blurry. Text outside a table is crisp and appears normal.
Any idea what may be causing this?

My thought was that, in the interest of finding a solution, posting my findings in Numbers could be helpful. After all, Numbers and Pages have a lot of similarities. In fact the way the tables work (where this problem lies) seems to be nearly identical. That post in another forum would certainly not benefit BuzzerRover in any way, but in here it might.
In response to PeterBreis0807, yes, I have tried both changing the CMYK when selecting the cell itself, and also when selecting the text inside the cell. In both cases, upon reselecting the cell and attempting to change the color (making sure the color change button is blue), the CMYK cells had reverted to other values. Gray Scale changes did seem to stick, but did not rectify the printing issue. In the interest of adhering to forum rules, this was tested on tables in both Numbers and Pages.
In addition, this printing issue does not seem to affect inserted images, which print beautifully, or even text outside of tables, as BuzzerRover mentioned. Also, it only seems to happen when printing to my HP LaserJet 400 color, but not when I print to my Canon copier.
I hope this helps shed some light on this in some way.

Still photos when put in a DVD with videos are so fuzzy it hurts my eyes!

I own Adobe Premiere ELements 11 and Adobe Photosho Elements 11, Nikon D90 for stills and Canon HD 53x for digital video. When I create a show and burn a DVD and play it on the TV the stills are so fuzzy it hurts my eyes to lool at them. The video segments are crystal clear and sharp. Once in awhile the still photos come out clear.
I called Adobe and left my # due to the long wait.

What are the pixel dimensions of your photos when put into Premiere Elements?

Video Plays Clear then Fuzzy then Clear then...

Playing a video file or DVD shows a pulsing image: first clear then slightly fuzzy then clear then fuzzy then clear. It seems to go on a pulse of about 2 seconds.
I have used VLC and Quicktime with files and the standard DVD player for DVDs with the same noticeable effect.
Using an external display shows the same effect.
I have run TechTool Deluxe and TechTool Pro 4 with no problems found anywhere.
Is it time to send it in and what could I suggest the problem would be???

That happens to me too. I use WinAvi to convert the videos and i have the same problem, when playing the videos. without exception, despite working perfectly in iTunes.

You have to transfer them to a computer first how you do that depend on the type of computer
And then burn it on a dvd there are tons of free software which let you burn movies to dvds

Since you seem to have tried mostly everything, apart from exchanging the motherboard, I'd say you have at least one option left, and that's to reinstall Windows from the recovery partition / recovery discs. That might solve the problem, if this is due to a software-error. General updates etc. might not work to fix such problems, but a clean install should.
If that doesn't help, I'd say the problem is somewhere either with the CPU or the motherboard, maybe bad connections or some sort of malfunction that prevents the computer from coming out of the 100% CPU usage.

Imported iMovie video 6 times larger than .mts files on camcorder

I would like to be able to watch all my HD video footage on my iMac, but when imported using iMovie it takes up FAR too much hard drive space.
I am importing video from a Canon Vixia AVCHD camcorder (HF21). The native .mts files on the camera are about 10GB per hour (~ 6 hrs of footage on the 64GB internal memory), but when I import the video using iMovie, they expand by around 6 times, to about 60GB per hour (that is, the .mov video files saved in iMovie Events folders are HUGE, 60GB per hour, or ~ 1GB per minute).
This seems too large to be practical; the first 6 hours of import took up ~360GB of storage - and that was only the first time I'd used the camera and imported footage! So I only get less than 2 full uses and imports of the camera's memory before my 1TB iMac is completely full (not including what is already on there).
I have started "Archive All" to save the video footage in it's raw format, but now the footage is not usable or watchable on the iMac unless I go and import it again with iMovie - where once again it expands to 6 times it's size.
Is there a solution to this? How can I make all my HD footage watchable on the iMac, retaining the full quality raw HD of the video, but not take up more than 1/3 of my 1TB hard drive each time I import from my camcorder?
If I import to iMovie, then export as a smaller file, surely I will lose quality?
I have heard it can be done with Final Cut, is that correct?

Thank you AppleMan1958 for that link to your earlier post. I have spent way to many hours tonight trying to work out why Nanna's Christmas video clips off her new JVC suddenly filled my HD. iMovie warned me that an hour of video at full would take 40GB. Gross underestimate lol.
I have decided I will import as large just to off stuff to DVD or quicktime format for the family then dump the iMovie Event in the trash and do an archive of all the footage to keep it for future editing. I'm lucky to have an external raid as the backing up of externals just starts becoming expensive in redundant backup drives.
I would be very cautious of using DVD's for backup as I have seen them fail too easily after a only a few years.
wardyf18 - My understanding is that importing on the Large setting gives you 960x540 resolution which isn't as good as the 1280x720 supported by older Apple TV's but I havn't noticed much difference in recent testing.
I believe the newest Apple TV will support 1080 on H.264 format but if you are playing MPEG4 it only supports 640x480 anyway. As a lot of my older stuff was converted to MPEG4 for iTunes so I now realise most of what I watch is only 640x480
mvmum - after hours of reading tonight I have come to the realisation that a Mac actually handles the editing of HD video pretty well but ADVHC is just not a good editing codec. Converting a 'group of pictures' codec to a 'full frame' codec is going to give you a large file on any system. Unfortunately a 'full frame' codec appears to definately be the best way to edit and anything that edits a 'group of pictures' codec like ADVHC has other quality problems.

IMovie video import: It only finds videos in iPhoto?!

Based on Jobs' roll-out presentation, I expected iMovie 08 to find "all" my video files, as he stated it would. In fact, it only found and displayed my low resolution still camera videos that had been imported into iPhoto. (Does anyone actually use iPhoto for video files from DV or HD cameras?)
Granted, this is a really cool way to collect and view all those iPhoto videos that I've never really looked at before, but what I want to edit with iMovie is my DV video that is dispersed on a few drives and in many folders. I expected iMovie to search for and provide access to all of those files too.
Apparently the only way to access my DV video files is to either copy or move them. Neither is practical. Copying all that video would be a huge waste of disc space. Moving them would destroy all my existing FCP and iMovie HD projects.
Why can't iMovie find all my existing videos wherever they are and in whatever format? Then I could view their content and import (and thus copy) only the individual clips I want to use in an iMovie project. That would only duplicate the video files that are actually being used.
iMovie 08 has great potential for a consumer video editing tool, and it will obviously grow in features and capability over time. However, the release version is quite obviously a work in progress. Once again it is clear that Apple considers its software users to be beta testers...and they let us pay for the privilege.

Search trough this forum a bit. Some people have reported problems with certain characters in file names. It also only imports certain video formats. Some still cameras produce video clips in "unusual" formats that require conversion before iMovie '08 accepts it.

You can copy them to the TC.. do not expect Time Machine to keep something that you delete though..
And please recognise you are breaking the idea of Time Capsule.. it is primarily a backup target for TIme Machine.. once you move files to the TC and delete them on the computer.. the only copy of the file is now on the TC.. which has no automated backup.. no easy means of recovery if the drive fails. no parts even.. Apple do not fix.. they give you a replacement and chuck your old one.
You are hoping that the TC will preserve your files.. when it is well known to be a less than reliable device.
Think hard if this is really where you want to go.

How do I move audio in an Imovie Video?

I'm trying to make an Imove video. I filmed the footage in Photobooth, and then imported it into Imovie. There was a delay of the sound in Photobooth, but I thought it was nothing. So I get to Imovie, and there was a delay once again. I don't know how to get the audio to be heard when I move my mouth. It seems like there is a very simple answer to this problem, yet I can't seem to find it. Any help is appreciated!

The Deskjet series printers connect to wireless networks with what is called USB to Wireless.

Songs are suddenly in gray font

I have several songs and a whole album or two that are suddenly grayed out with a dashed empty circle in front of them. This circle does not show up on the icon list. I am unable to play the songs and they won't sync to my iPhone.

I have the SAME problem. When I took my video iPod to the Genius Bar they said it's not an iPod problem, but an iTunes problem. The support page on here says to delete the song and then rescan it from your CD - implying the song file is corrupt. My problems: I have over 600 songs I've purchased from iTunes, so I don't have the CD; or after I burned a CD onto iTunes I got rid of the CD; or I haven't been able to narrow down which songs have the problem, some are iTunes purchased, some are CD purchased. Once in a while I think "Ok- gotta remember that it's the 4th song on this album." All in all, it sounds like Apple doesn't want to help solve this issue because if iTunes really is corrupting song files this would cost them BILLIONS in refunds.

The various Lynda.com video tutorials are very good, but you have to pay for a description. The Photoshop User TV podcasts are excellent; there are hundreds of them, and they are free. They are also what the iPad was invented for.
The 'You suck at Photoshop' videos on YouTube are both very funny and very instructive.
The Scott Kelby books are very good for folk starting out. The Martin Evening, and the Martin Evening/Jeff Schewe books are as good as they get from a photography point of view. The Steve Caplin books are the best Photoshop books once you get into it, but Scott Kelby and Matt Kloskowski do some great medium to advanced books. Matt's Compositing Secrets is excellent, and was Amazon's best Photoshop book for a while.
