My iMovie11 is frozen with the rainbow cursor?

I have tried to restart the application and my MacBook Air but the same problem occurs everytime I open iMovie. Also, according to my Activity Monitor iMovie is using 99% of my CPU. I am hoping that I am able to finish my school project on iMovie by this weekend so I really need to get this fixed. Ideas?

Follow the instructions in the article. When you connect your phone again, you may have to press both the home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo reappears, then continue pressing the home button until iTunes detects the phone in recovery mode.

This happened to me aswell, but it happened to me when I plugged it into the PC but same problem. what you have to do is move the 'Hold Switch' to put it on hold and then move it back again and then hold both the 'Menu button' and button in the middle of the click wheel. then it will turn off and then come up with the Apple logo and then it will work fine and you can try again. (P.S: If it doesnt show the Apple logo just try pressing any button

How much space is your Other using? You may be able to reduce.
