Please be more specific. What Premiere project? What version of Premiere? Which operating system? What CoDecs do the QT fiels use? Are all the video files in the correct folders inside the Premiere project structure? Your description sounds like you are attempting to open a Mac based project on a PC and your video files are either in the wrong location or use a Mac-specific CoDec, hence they cannot be read on a PC.

  • CS4 premiere Imported .avi files play too fast

    Hi Guys
I have a problem. I'm new to CS4 having used Adobe Premiere 6.0 in the past and I have never had this issue when importing .AVI files. What happens is that the file play fine in my windows enviroment and on all my players VLC,DIVX, Windows media player.
But as soon as I import these files into my project at 29.97 frames the video plays really really fast and the sound plays at the normal rate. If I try to change the frame rate the sound also changes. Now here is the strange part. If I convert the files to MP4 they play fine! but the quailty of the video takes a massive hit as you know.
I tried to convert the files to .MOV, MPG (which the program won't play) and most other types of video files but MP4 seems to be the only one that works! When I really want the higher quailty .AVI. Again the files play fine outside of CS4 Premiere and I have already converted them from a Panasonic AVCHD encode format.
Please if anyone has any advise it would be great as I have to get this sorted for a x-mas present!

  • When i upload my videos to pc, my videos play in slow motion and sound is not with video? help!!!!!!

i have two iphone 4s, and everytime i try to upload my videos, sound is ahead of the video and video is in slow motion??? my pc is not hd and that may have something to do with it, just looking for answers!!! I have a desktop that i am looking to have upgraded with better stuff, just curious what i need if that is the problem.

    Yvonne-
I haven't tried videos on my camera yet.  Do you use the Videos App to play them?  I don't think they will play in the Photos App.
If yours are in a format that is not in Vazandrew's list, you may need to sync them to your computer and convert them to M4V or MP4 format.  You can use a program like HandBrake to do the conversion.  <HandBrake>  Once converted, you can sync them back to the iPad and they should play.
This may not meet your needs, but the alternative appears to be getting a different camera.  I don't know of another Video App that might work.

  • I imported video from a card into IPhoto and it plays in slow motion.  Any suggestions? Would importing into IMovie help at all?

    Hello
I am importing video and pics into Iphoto and the video plays in slow motion.  Would importing in Imovie help or does it have something to do with the type of camera or file the video is in?

It should. So they aren't shown in the Last Import smart album, right? Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Run Option #4, Rebuild Database, followed by Option #1 if needed.

  • Imported Video Plays in Slow Motion...why?

Hey Guys I hope you can help:
I set up a project with the following properties:
Sequence Preset: AJA IoHD 720p 23.98 Apple Pro Res 422 (HQ)
Capture Preset: AJA IoHD 720p 23.98 Apple Pro Res 422 (HQ) Varicam
Device Control Preset: AJA IoHD 720p 23.98 Sony VTR
Once this is set up I import a video clip with the following properties:
    Vid Rate: 23.98 fps
    Frame Size: 1280 x 720
    Compressor: Apple ProRes 422 (HQ)
    Data Rate: 11.2 MB/sec
    Pixel Aspect: Square
After I import the file, I drag it to the preview window and play it....the sound plays normally, but the video itself is playing in slow motion....THIS IS DRIVING ME NUTS. Can any of you shed any light on this???
I drag the file to the timelime (get no messages from the system) and play it from the timeline with the same results.

Perhaps, tell us your system and your source footage is.
When you have it in the timeline, is there a fine line on the top of the timeline window? Red ,Green, or orange? Try and render it if you do.

  • Videos are importing into AfterEffects in choppy slow motion?

I am trying to make my first commercial. I used a cannon camera to shoot alot of footage.
When I watch the ".mov" file in quicktime it plays perfectly fine. However when I try to import into After Effects and hit play the video is in slow motion and is very choopy? I cant figure this out to save my life and this is a project for school! I have tried changing the settings to "hdtv1080 24" and it still is not working?
Does anyone know what I may be doing wrong??

Um, it sounds like you're doing just about everything wrong.  With AE, you need to walk before you run, you have to know the basics before you can do ANYTHING of substance, and it appears you don't have the time to learn the basics.  And no, there aren't any hard-and-fast answers to a situation where you need just a couple of simple things.  What you think could be simple may not be in AE terms.
Do you even NEED to use AE?   Why can't you use a video editing application, which is far easier to figure out?

  • Importing avi files into jsp pages

hello all. im new to jsp and java. i would like to know how i could import .avi files from my MySQL database (where ive given paths for the avi files) into a jsp page. i am basically trying to make an application that allows users to select particular video files and play them. the user has the ability to upload and delete these videos

    newbie4337 wrote:
im sorry i guess i didn't phrase that properly. i meant to say that i had saved the paths in the database If you have some saved URLs in the database (URLs to where these avi files can be found)
you just need to retrieve the URLs and use them when generating links (<a href="..."></a>) in the html produced by your JSP.
You have already given the paths in the html generated by your jsp? Paths as in URLs?
Then you must already have a servlet deployed that accepts HTTP requests for .avi URLs and reads the relevant .avi from the database and serves back an avi stream with the right mime type (video/x-msvideo) in the headers...
    ([w3schools|http://www.w3schools.com/media/media_mimeref.asp]).
could you give me some more info on that?If the URLs are hosted somewhere else you do not need any of this.

  • Imported AVI files getting cut off

I'm trying to import an avi file into my captivate project
and it seems to be getting cut off. When I use the slidebar the avi
plays completely but when I do a preview or a publish it cuts off
about 8 seconds of the avi. Can anyone help? I've tryed this with a
few different avi files and the same thing happens. Your help is
    greatly appreciated.

The default slide time for a Captivate project varies
depending on version and preference settings - but it sounds like
all you really have to do is extend the time-to-play for the AVI
object on the time-line (thus also extending the slide display time
itself), to allow the converted AVI enough time to open and
    complete its play.
This will have to be a trial and error, probably, because the
time isn't displayed for the converted animation.

  • Importing AVI file problem

I am getting the message " Selected file does not contain video data, is not a supported video file format, or video codec required is not found." I have used and still use Audition 1.5 with no problems. My other video editing programs have no problems. I unsucessfully tried importing AVI into Audtition 2 when it came out and after a few days gave up and stayed with 1.5. I want to upgrade, but I need to be able to import AVI files reliably. I have the most current codecs and they all seem to be working properly.

    >So, do other audio editors handle video easily, or is Audition like other editors? Reason I ask: I'm going to be working with video in the very near future. I've got 1.5 and from the sounds of things, it's the Adobe audio product that plays best with video.
By all accounts, some other editors handle it better. But since I stopped editing video years ago, I can't tell you which. There have been threads about it though - it might be worth a search. By and large, I think that it's the more expensive ones that do this, though. If you have AA1.5 it's worth trying this to see if it fits your needs though - it's about the only version that can easily be used for voice-to-picture work - as ryclark attests. It's particularly useful in this case, because you can keep the talent in a quiet place with just a mic and monitor for company, and no PC...
    >And if Audition doesn't handle video as well as other 'primarily audio' editors, is that cuz Adobe's trying to nudge people toward their video products?
I think that they're trying to nudge people towards SoundBooth, but this doesn't exactly recieve universal approbation in terms of audio for video, to say the least...

  • Importing AVI files

Hello. I've just switched over from the dark side to Mac and I need some help using FCE. Here are my basic questions:
    1) Best settings/method for importing AVI files from a hard disk?
    2) Best export settings for high quality use in powerpoint and/or DVD/CD?
Now for a little more info...
I work with athletes in the areas of sport science and performance. I have tons of video saved on multiple hard drives in AVI format that we did video analysis of technique using DartFISH. They were originally captured with good quality digital video cameras via DartFISH as AVI files. These are large files and high quality video (200-300 MB for a 1 min clip) .
RIght now, if I choose "import: from file" I get a message saying the clips are not optimized for FCE and I should recapture them. Unfortunately, all I have are the files on HD and not the original tapes, etc.
What is the best way to import the AVI clip files into FCE for editing? Settings, etc. Do I need to convert to a Mac-friendly format first with a third-party app like QuickTime Pro, VLC, MPEG StreamClip? Use iMovie?
My overall goal is to not lose quality/suffer degradation of the clips in the conversion, edit, export process. I'm not that concerned with file size, but I also don't really want to go through 3 or four steps and create multiple large files for the same clip.
My desired output is for continued work with athletes so they can take video home (DVD or CD of clips) to review and academic presentations (powerpoint). So seeing fine detail in the clips is important. An edit/output set-up that I will use a lot is merging two clips to play in a PIP, side-by-side, or overlay format. i.e., athlete A with perfect form on the left, athlete B with flaws on the right and the clips play simultaneously as one final output movie.
Is the basic Quicktime export function the best for my needs?
I've got a decent background in computers and basic video editing. Clip splitting, marking in/out, timeline, transitions, and other edit functions are no problem. My main area of weakness is all the different video formats, codecs, compression options, and other similar settings. There weren't many of those types of choices in my old system. I've produced some movies with FCE already, but the quality in the videos dropped from the original clips to final output.
    Thanks,
    TD...

    Tom--
Thanks for the response. Using MPEG Streamclip solved my import problems. Using the default DV25 compression seemed to yield a file of similar size to my original AVI files. Is there much benefit in using the DVCPRO25 or DVCPRO50?
I'm still having some troubles with export format settings. Using the default Quicktime movie export, the finished clips looks to be fine in Quicktime. But using the .mov clip in Powerpoint yields some degraded quality. The picture appears to have "lines" and generally looks less crisp/clean. I thought this might have been just some Microsoft flaw in the Powerpoint movie engines, but I tried the same thing in Apple Keynote and got the same result. I have some screen shot image captures I could send you, but not sure how on the discussion board.

  • Importing AVI files without having to constantly Render?

I got a new camera for my b-day, but it uses a hard drive instead of a tape. So, instead of "capturing" video by playing it through the FCE interface, I just import AVI files right off the camera. However, now when I want to drag a clip to a sequence, it is always Unrendered. I have to go through the pain staking process of rending long clips, and as I edit parts of it become unrendered again. It is making editing a real hassle!
Is there a way to get the clips into the software in a format that will resolve this problem? Or is there some other solution that I'm not thinking of?
    Thanks - Berrett

    Hi,
FCE doesn't work with the AVI format as standard, so it has to render all time.
You need to convert your material first in one of the supported video format for FCE.
FCE4 supports only DV, HDV and AVCHD (last two only through the Apple Intermediate Codec).
Depending what original video format you are shooting, you can try to use a free utility like Mpegstreamclip (www.squared5.com) to convert your source material into one of the supported by FCE.
If your camera is SD definition you will be using the DV format, otherwise you will be converting into the Apple Intermediate Codec, as a QuickTime movie in all cases. No avi.
    Regards,
    Armando.

  • Trying to Import AVI file to iMovie - Error -8969

Like some others before me, I too am having trouble importing .avi files to my iMovie version 4. Acccording to Command i, they are Motion JPEG OpenDML (they are .avi files from a Canon digital camera). They are viewable in QT. Several posts suggest they should import easily into iMovie. However, when I try to import, I get an error message (failed -8969). I tried converting the .avi file, with QT Pro, to both .mov and DV stream. It will convert to .mov, but when I try to import to iMovie, I get the same error message. I don't even get that far with DV: when I try to convert to DV stream, I get the same error message immediately. Any suggestions? Are there any plug-ins that would fix the problem?

    "codecBadDataErr = -8969"
"Codec : acronym for "compression/deccompression" , is an algorithm, or specialized computer program, that reduces the number of bytes consumed by large files and programs."
Used for video files, AVI, QuickTime and otherwise.
Conclusion: You got a bad file.
Come to think of it. I seem to remember a driver (or codec) that can be downloaded from Canon. Don't know any details, though.
PS. Please don't post your question twice.

    hello,
When I render my video in after effects the output file is in slow motion, its not the render settings but something else.
    Anyone can help me?
    thanks

What do you mean that it's in slow motion? Are you sure that the problem isn't that you created a file so large that your video player and computer can't play it in real time?
    See this page:
