My interactive InDesign CS 5 document won't print.

It is a 20 page document with three videos in it. Every time I select print, ID shuts down. Anyone have an idea?

I can't help you too much with Windows crashes, sorry.
Have you tried the top two recommendations, though? Trash your Preferences (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/526990)
and round-trip the document through IDML to remove corruption (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/526991)

  • InDesign: Type on path won't print

I have Type on Path in Indesign CS3 file that won't print (to any printer) or won't export to pdf.
In Attributes this object is checked printable. Other objects from the same layer print well.
I tried to remove any styles from  the text, paragraph, and to remove object style. there is no filling on the path.
I tried to align text left, right, in the middle. It still won't print.
Anybody knows how to fix it or is it just an InDesign bug?
    Thank you

Did you try printing the new file on your end? It could easily be that whatever caused the corruption was the same problem and the trip throuh .inx will have fixed it.

  • The last page of every pdf document won't print.

If I ask to print just one page - nothing.   If I ask for two pages, I get the first page.   Help.  Using Mac OSX 10.9.5 and Adobe 11.0.09
I tried printing using an older version of Adobe, had the 'won't print last page problem' so I upgraded to the latest version.   Still the same exact problem.    Does anyone have suggestions?

I have the same problem, but not just in Acrobat. Indesign also. So... I can't print a single page. Have to print two, and toss the one I don't want. Seems to be a problem with Adobe print interface. I can sometimes "trick" it by going to system print dialog box and back out again.

  • Indesign-generated .pdf files won't print

I realize this question is vague to the point of being unanswerable, but here I go anyway.
Our department's publication person sent me a number of chapters of our book in progress so that I could print an uncorrected proof to show to our funding source. She emailed me .pdf files generated by InDesign CS2, probably, although it might have been CS3.
She also emailed me the indesign file for the frontmatter because I had some things to add, so the .pdf for that I generated myself.
I took everything to a local printer we regularly use. To print this job he was using a large commercial Canon setup I think. None of the .pdfs would print on it. He ended up having to print them all as images for the purposes of creating a proof for me.
Now, I printed all of them myself on our networked postscript printer, both from a Mac and a Windows machine, no problem.
Since the files had been emailed to me, and then to him, we thought maybe they got corrupted, so I brought them over on a disk, but that didn't help, not even the one file whose .pdf I generated myself would print.
So is this an issue that has come up--indesign-generated .pdf files being unprintable on a commercial printer but printable on a postscript machine.

    Dov and Al,
Yes, I'm sorry, I do realize that this isn't enough to diagnose a problem. I was hoping that this might be something that has come up before and someone would recognize.
As far as I could tell, he was opening up the print jobs in Acrobat and sending them to his printer, which had its own job monitor. When he consulted that monitor he just said, no, it won't print.
He's a smart guy and I've done a number of jobs with him that were generated in indesign, so I'm really at a loss to explain what has gone wrong with this one.

  • Appleworks document won't print on my emac

I can get my emac computer to print from the internet as well as scan and print. For some reason it won't print from a basic appleworks word processing document. In the print box, I get " Unable to open the printer connection". I'm confused, I connect to print from the internet, why won't it print from appleworks. I know nothing about printer connections. I realize my computer is referred to as "vintage". It worked just fine and all of a sudden it quit printing. What did I do wrong? I NEED HELP !!! I have wedding invitations I need to send out ASAP and I am getting nervous. Thanks to anyone who gives me a quick response.

    Hi p-h,
That quick post was a workaround that I thought would let you print right away.
What might cure the problem is deleting AppleWorks's preferences files. See this post by Peggy in the User Tips library for details.

  • Documents won't print, although there is no problem with Explorer

Documents that I try to print from a web page go into the printer queue, but won't actually print (eg a flight ticket or a portfolio summary). The document will print perfectly if I use Explorer.

  • CS3 document won't print in CS5

I created an InDesign document in CS3 in Windows and opened it in CS5 on the Mac. It looks fine but when I attempt to print it, the dialog box does not appear. I can open and print other documents but this one doesn't want to cooperate. Anyone have any ideas?

Hm, simultaneuous cross-platform and cross-version conversion. Typically these conversions are not problematic for printing but You Never Know. I habitually export INX from CS3 and open the INX in the newer version of ID - fewer composition problems that way.  Likewise, saving the newly-opened file, exporting IDML, and re-opening the IDML in CS5 is another way to handle typical cross-version file conversion balkiness.
Can you export a PDF and print that?

  • InDesign (CS 5.5) won't print fonts from a file that prints correctly in CS 3

    Hello,
I installed CS 5.5 last night and installed all of the updates (on Windows XP with SP3). I have an Okidata B4300 laser printer with Postscript 3 emulation installed. Several typefaces (both True Type and Open Type, 4 fonts tested so far) are not printing from InDesign CS 5.5, but when I open the same file in CS 3, it prints correctly. All of the fonts are installed in the Windows font folder and have worked for years. No printing errors in Photoshop CS 5.5 or in Word.
I've been going through the "troubleshoot printing/PDF export problems in InDesign" guide, focusing on the application level. Here's what I've done so far:
    1. Restarted the program, printer, system
    2. Did a disk cleanup, defragmented the system, and ran an error check
    3. Recreated the InDesign preference files
    4. Downloaded the Adobe Universal Postscript Windows Driver
Each time I try to print my test file, I encounter the same error--
    Error: undefined
    Offending command: @FS
    Stack:
    6.81257
    4.60767
    9.74377
    9.86353
    -mark-
And then, in parentheses, it prints the text that should have printed.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks for your help.
    Jill Shultz

    Hi Dov,
Just to double-check: you meant delete the Adobe Universal PS Driver and reinstall the Okidata PS driver, right?
I wasn't complaining about the situation; if there was anything in the tone of my message that pricked, I'm sorry. I know Adobe doesn't purposefully cause problems or make its software unnecessarily picky. That would be bad business. And I only asked about the possibility of a glitch because I was working with my back turned away from this CPU as it did the installation, so if there had been a momentary warning, I would likely have missed it. Glitches happen, even to the best software.
I was asking questions hoping for another test that might provide a definitive answer. I know that doesn't always happen when troubleshooting, but it's a lovely goal, especially with the looming specter of hardware replacement.
The Oki printer has been a workhorse under heavy use, so I wouldn't replace it unless it was really necessary. In fact, if the reinstallation of the Oki driver doesn't fix the problem, then I'll probably test all of the typefaces to see which ones work straight up and which require the PDF workaround. I might live with the problem for a while.
Is there any info on the Adobe site about which printers implement PS correctly?
Thanks for all of your help!
    Jill

  • Word document won't 'print' to PDF on proper paper size

I have a document in MS Word that's on a 5.5x8.5 page size. If I do a Save As, the resulting PDF uses the proper paper size, but it also shows color--which I don't want for this particular document.
When I do Print and choose Adobe PDF, I can choose Black/white which is great, but I'm struggling to get it to use the right paper size. I've tried ever combination I can think of in the Default Setting and Adobe PDF Page Size options, but can't get it to show anything but 8.5x11.
Any thoughts on how to get the right paper size using Print to PDF?

Is this a Word document generated by Adobe's RoboHelp product or just a document generated directly in Word?
If the latter, you are asking in the wrong place. Even if you are using RoboHelp, this looks more like a question to ask in the Acrobat forums.

  • Suddenly placed EPS images in document won't print

Recently I had to do a clean reinstall of the Mac OS to clear up some problems. I backed up all my files and applications before doing so, so I could move AppleWorks back onto my Mac from the backup.
Now I am trying to print out an existing document from AppleWorks that has two placed EPS images in it. The only thing that prints is some text I have typed directly into the document. The document prints blank where the EPS images are supposed to be.
To narrow down whether it was a problem with my printer or not, I chose the print command and then chose "save as PDF." The resulting PDF file is also blank were the EPS images are supposed to be, seemingly pointing to a problem with AppleWorks. I tried deleting and then reinserting the EPS images but this did not solve the problem.
Thoughts on how I can correct this are appreciated.

Whe you move AppleWorks from one machine to anothe (or back onto the same machine) you need to move the entire AppleWorks 6 folder and all of its contents.
After doing so, you should delete the AppleWorks preferences files. You will need to do this for each user account on the machine.
Go to username > Library > Preferences
Locate and delete the file com.apple.appleworks.plist
Still in the Preferences folder, locate and open the folder AppleWorks.
From that folder, delete the following files:
    AppleWorks 6 Assistant Prefs
    AppleWorks 6 Assistants Cache
    AppleWorks 6 Preferences
    AppleWorks 6 Translators Cache
If you have made changes to the Button Bar, and have experienced NO problems associated with the Button Bar, it is likely safe to leave the file AppleWorks 6 Button Bars where it is. Otherwise delete it as well.
AppleWorks will create new copies of these files as they are needed.
Then use Disk Utility to Repair Permissions on your startup drive. You'll find Disk Utility in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder.

  • Word documents won't print after upgrade

I upgraded my G4 Cubefrom OS9.2.2 to Panther successfully. I also upgraded to a new printer. When I try to print documents created in my old system on OS9 in microsoft Word, they open up OK in Classic, but the print click brings up the old printer. How do I select the new printer? The printer works fine with old Appleworks documents. Also, will my very old 1998 Word programme work in OSX or will I continue to need Classic for it to function? Any thoughts would be most welcome. Thanks.

You must install an OS 9 printer driver for the new printer and remove the driver for the old printer.
The version of Word that you have is an OS 9 only version. You can use it while running OS X via the Classic emulation but the program will not run natively in OS X. For that you will need to upgrade to an OS X version.
If you plan to continue using OS X you will need to upgrade all your old software to OS X versions including AppleWorks (6.2.9 upgrade is available for owners of AW.)

  • Documents won't print in Classic mode

My machine is running OS 10.3.9. I have two programs on this machine that require classic to run and I can't print from either program. I get a Laserwriter 8 error -5751. I have used these same two programs on OS 10.2.8 and they print with no problem. I have tried printing to an HP LaserJet 4200 and a HP Color LaserJet 4500. I have updated my printer driver and re-installed Laserwriter 8. Does anyone have any ideas?

This may or may not be your problem, but
It depends on how you are set up.
I have the printer set up utility for OS9 in Classic
And I also have the same in OSX.
I have an older HP that I downloaded from the disk to OS9 and the exact same in OSX.
Be sure that when you download any updates or upgrades from HP's site they are in the correct Operating Systems folders, for the printer to work in both..
OS9 or Classic drivers and setup will not work in OSX. Likewise the same is true of OSX to Classic or OS9.. Sometimes it can get a little silly but you can make it work...Don

  • Word 2010 document with images won't print to HPLJ5550 printers

It prints fine on black and white printers (HP 4250). It's a 25-page document with images on almost every page. The file size in Explorer shows the document is 3.2mb. The printer queue window shows its 2.27mb/415 mb.
I've tried to figure this out.
I sent the same document to four different HPLJ5550 printers. All the same problem.
I sent it to other printer models and it works fine.
I sent it from different computers. Same results.
I turned off background printing. I disabled advanced printing. I PDF'd it and it still wouldn't print.
The issue is that we are moving to Office 2010 in May and I am responsible for training everyone. But, I can't print my training materials on 90% of our printers (HPLJ5550). Gack. What will this be like when we have all our employees trying to print and documents won't print.
This has happened with other Word 2010 documents too. I thought it may have been the fonts in the styles. So I changed the styles to use Times New Roman and Arial. Didn't help.
I made new styles, not based on any other style, and used TNR and Arial. Didn't help.
I save the file back to Word 2003. Didn't help.
I can, however, print the file fine on the one Dell 5100 color printer we have. But, that's not going to work when we have 700 users trying to print to their HPLJ5550 printers (the company default printer for all our locations).
I would appreciate any suggestions you have. Right now I have had to go back to using Word 2003 to create the training documents for Word 2010 classes - totally not acceptable.Ugh.
    Thank you!

I am using BB ZZ10, and my laptop has Kaspersky Anti Virus installed in Windows 7, as mentioned in the forum, i have stopped my AV, and installed the PrintToGo and still it is not working.
I get a small window asking for my blackberry ID and Password, once i enter it correctly it give a error message, stating that cannot connect to internet or DNS not found when all other browser pages are able to connect.
if i enter wrong password it shows password wrong and then asks for correct password, only if i give correct password it shows the error message which is a typical Internet explorer error message.

  • Envy 4502 all in one won't print from Windows XP

I just set up and successfully installed the software for my Envy 4502 on an old PC running Windows XP.  The internal test page comes out fine, but when I send a document it appears very briefly in the print queue then disappears and the document won't print.  Any ideas.  I've tried all the stuff that the HP Doctor suggests, uninstalling then reinstalling etc.

    Hi @Sianeo
Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you print from your Windows XP operating system to your Envy 4502 printer. I understand your print jobs seem to be disappearing from the print queue.
What stuff did you try already? WHat did the Print and Scan Doctor suggest?
Please try bypassing the spooler to see if you can print directly to the printer.
    1. Click on start and go to devices and printers.
    2. Right click on  the printer and click on printer properties.
    3. Choose the option "Print directly to the printer".
    4. Click apply and then ok.
If this works follow the next steps and try to print again.
Hold down the Windows Logo key () on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box
    Type services.msc and press Enter
Locate Print Spooler and double click on it to open the Spooler properties
Make sure startup type is set to Automatic, if it is not please click on the drop down and choose Automatic
Under Service status, please Stop the server, and then wait a moment and click Start
If bypassing the spooler does not result in a successful print, let me know. Please post back to let me know if the issue is resolved, if bypassing the spooler led to a successful print, and what steps you had performed prior to posting on the forums. Thanks.

Since putting in Snow Leopard, it won't print (MS Word problem?) pictures in a document. Type, type boxes, headings, etc all print fine, but a picture within the document won't print.
