My internal "A" drive is not listed as an import destination

I have 7 internal drives/partitions labledl a, c, f, i,k,, L and n
In LR 2 I had no issues importing directly to the A drive. For some reason, LR 3 does not list my "A" drive is as an import destination. It allows me to hit the + sign and
"add" a new folder. But I am actually just clicking through the folders until I get to the folder on the A drive that I need.  After import that destination is still not reflected in the choices.
I can change the drive letter but before I go through that effort (it affects other programs too) I wanted to see if anyone had a work around.
I am guessing this is a bug. LR may not look for drive starting with a or b since they precede the typical system drive letter of C. Not sure why but I am just guessing here.
Anyone?
Thanks,
Kevin

  • TS1538 What do I do after step 6 in "If the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is not listed"?

i'm very confused about step 5, "Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed" > "If the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is not listed", what do I do after step 6? I looked for and found the entry that recognizes the device as a camera, "Apple iPhone, now what? I'm trying to resolve an issue. After an iTunes upgrade in July 2012, I have not been able to get my iTunes to recognize any of my devices. I have uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes, all the steps. Now I'm on this one and I don't know what to do after this step 6. I looked and found the entry.... now what??? I am out of room on my phone because everything I buy on iTunes on the computer mysteriously appears on my iPhone 4, and everything I buy on my iPhone mysteriously uploads onto my iTunes the next time I open it. My phone will charge when connected to the computer, and Windows recognizes it and asks how I want to open pictures, etc. But in iTunes it will not show up under Devices. This is getting beyond ridiculous and I have to get some of this music off of my phone!

Found a possible solution for me.
While the phone was plugged into my computer and iTunes is CLOSED.
    1. I went to Services in Windows.
    2. I selected Apple Mobile Device and right clicked and selected "Stop".
    3. Then I right-clicked again and selected "Start".
    4. Then I went to Device Manager and right clicked my iPhone with the yellow alert icon and selected "Uninstall".  You will get a warning about uninstalling the device.  Click OK.
    5.  At the top of Device Manager I clicked the Action menu and selected "Scan for Hardware Changes".
This re-installed the iPhone and everything started working again.

  • My internal hard drive is not recognized by the leopard installer disk

i just got my leopard delivered this morning, and have just put it in, every thing is going well, until it comes to the screen where you select the hard drive you want to install leopard on, and my internal hard drive does not show up, however other drives do (like my external hard drives and usb sticks).
really hope someone can help! thanks

I am having the same problem with my MBP with Leopard. I get a flashing question mark on startup, and have repaired/permissions and my startup disk doesn't show up. I reset PRAM, and then ran permissions again to no avail. If it really is Spotlight just indexing, Apple should tell us that in their technical documents. If anyone has any other solutions, that would be appreciated.

Sending by Dropbox where, To who, to what computer? As your does not start up.
You need to take at least the OS disc to a work Mac computer and create DMG from the OS install disc then restore that DMG to USB thumb drive. Then you can boot the computer from that thumb drive and install the OS. That is if your hard drive is functioning correctly.
Then you can use the App disc in the external CD/DVD drive to load up all the included Applications that come with your version of OS X.

  • Internal hard drive does not mount in disk utility

My internal hard drive no longer mounts in Disk Utility. It is grayed out. I have extraordinarily frequent spinning beach ball/freezes, in Safari or Apple Mail. The most recent symptom: upon rebooting or just starting up, I see flashing black on the display. This has been occuring for more than six months. Of course, I have made total and frequent backup's. I bought new RAM, but have not yet installed it, and I susect this might help. I have done repeted troubleshooting many times each:  Apple's Disk Doctor, Repaired Permissions, Reinstalled the Mac OS, safe boot, Alsoft's Disk Warrior, Apple's longer Harware Test, etc. I have worked as a new user, too. All tests done report that all is well. What od you thnk the problem is? Must I drive 1.5 hrs. each way to the Genius Bar at my nearest Apple Store? Might I try to erase the hard drive as a fix? I hate to do this, only as a last resort, as it is so time-consuming. Should I just update my Mac OS? Please advise, out there, if anyone can offer any advice, I would be greatly appreciative.

The list of issues you posted probably would not get shorter if you attempt to 'upgrade them' away, as usually that kind of effort is not effective yet may expose more of the same problems while not necessarily revealing the original weakness. Another OS X installed over a set of problems seldom helps.
How full is the hard disk drive? If it is too full, or has been very busy in use several years, it may be time to replace the HDD and perhaps put a larger capacity one in the computer. And if the main computer hardware checks out OK (tested under a variety of duration and stress tests) then also consider a RAM upgrade if the device is not already at the maximum capacity.
When was the last time the hard disk drive was devoid of content, maybe wiped -- erased and reformatted by a third party disk utility or have a utility overwrite the entire HDD with zeros? This used to be a common tech service in the course of a major effort to restore a Mac. Or Defragment?
If you can do the latter, this could help resolve bad sectors and remove old data or corruption on the hard drive. Or get a new HDD and before committing a new OS X install & apps to it (or a re-clone of a complete backup) test the drive and be sure it is ready for use. Not all new drives are perfectly ready; some need to get exercise first.
I'd bet on a new hard disk drive of larger capacity (also note spin RPM rate and data speeds) and a full RAM upgrade.
If you have a backup clone on an external hard disk drive (in a boot-capable enclosure) you could really go to town and before you erase the main/only hard drive, make a backup clone and test its ability to boot the Mac. Or put the old drive and content in a suitable boot capable enclosure of the kind with its own power supply, and deal with it later.
    Then consider a later version OS X -- whatever most recent version that model can support... {edited}
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Satellite A100 CD/DVD drive is not listed in BIOS or device manager

    1. The original drive is not working. Upon inserting a disk the drive's light does shine and it does spin - but nothing further.
A little investigation shows no optical drive listed in the BIOS or Device Manager (naturally).
    2. Perhaps I'd like to reinsert the drive, but I can't find any instructions on the internet about removing/replacing this drive.
    Neither in the owner's manual.
Can someone steer me to these instructions?
    Many thanks

Owners manual is not the same as maintenance manuals. Please note that this is not the same and exact description about notebook disassembling procedure is for authorized service only.
Anyway, as far as I know the optical disc drive is fixed with one screw and it can be removed from the bottom side. The screw is placed near the memory cover exact over the optical drive. Not on the side of cooling vent but on the other side.
Be careful because all you do is on your own risk.

  • How do I replace my internal hard drive and not lose windows partition?

    Hello,
I am wanting to swap my internal hard drive out for a larger one. What do I do about my windows partition? I only use boot camp, and there is some stuff on my windows side I don't want to lose. I know how to make a clone for OSX, and I know how to replace the actual hard drive, it's just the windows that I am a little sketchy on.
    Thanks for your help.

WinClone - check the faq and forum for tips and read the docs
    http://www.twocanoes.com
Pull your hard drive and put it in external case, OWC sells such kits, you could probably use a good windows clone program too.
but you need room on an (external) hard drive to hold the Windows image (uses a sparse disk image file is all).
Paragon Software has been busy releasing programs and updates to help Mac users running Windows, using NTFS (and EXT2/3), as well as CampTune (free for now) for resizing Windows or linux boot camp partitions.

  • Internal Hard Drive will not mount -- need help!

My Mac Dual 450 has been a constant problem since I installed Tiger several weeks ago. There have been crashes every day. Disk First Aid did not help. Then I discovered I had TechTool Deluxe which I had gotten from Apple a few months ago. It has diagnostics for just about everything you can think of. I tried it. Big mistake.
Everything came out OK except it said there were some bad blocks, and an invalid BTree node size 8.0 (whatever that is). I tried to get it to repair the HD and it said it could not, that the HD was not mounted (I had booted from TechTool disk). Then I tried to reboot from the internal HD and I got a big bad black box saying that I had to restart. I tried that many times and kept getting the message. I booted from the Apple Tiger install disk and tried to run Disk First Aid on my HD but it said there were problems and Disk First Aid could not correct them because the HD was not mounted. I tried this and the TechTools Disk many times. Same result.
I then booted from an external system 9.2.2 HD and tried to use the Disk First Aid on that. Same result: it said the Macintosh HD (my internal) was not mounted so Disk First Aid could not repair it.
I have tried everything I could think of (option-boot, C-boot, etc) and nothing will let me boot from the internal HD or even mount it. I spent quite a bit of time with AppleCare rep and he could not succeed in getting the HD to mount.
He suggested either trying Disc Warrior which I do not have, or possibly resetting the PMU on the logic board and he sent me instructions for that, which seem ominous to say the least. And I doubt that it would solve my problem since the computer sees the HD, it just can't mount it. Resetting the PMU seems to be for computers that can't see the HD and won't start. But mine does just fine with other start-up disks.
Are there any suggestions on what else I can try? Is there a program that can be downloaded that mounts hard drives?
My Mac Dual 450 has 1.25 gb of RAM.
Thanks for any help. I need it fast.

Thank you for your suggestions and your continuing interest in trying to solve my problem. I rebooted with CMD + S and got the black screen with white text. Unfortunately I could not type anything on it. I typed /sbin/fsck -y and hit return. Nothing showed on the screen. I waited awhile in case this was one of those situations where it is hidden. But nothing happened. I tried the whole sequence a couple more times and same thing: I was unable to type anything that would show up on the screen.
Am I missing something here? I tried typing holding down various keys and could not get anything to register.
For what it is worth, the last line that showed on the screen is "panic. We are hanging here..."
I do not think that is related to what I typed since it was there when the screen first appeared, but could it nonetheless have somethng to do with my computer or hard drive?
I am right now installing system X.4 onto an external HD. If I can get that to boot and work OK, I can just use that for awhile until I get the internal either replaced or repaired.
If you see my previous posts, I had a devil of a time installing system X.4 to begin with. Maybe my HD was troubled all this time??? Or could there be some other underlying problem with my Dual 450? I suppose I will find out when I try to boot from the external.
Incidentally, I have an external HD with 9.2.2 on it and have had no trouble booting from it or using it.
    Thanks again for your help.

  • New internal hard drive replacement not seen - why?

I have replaced the internal Seagate Momentus 7200RPM, 160Gb drive on my 2007, 17 inch MBP- with a Seagate Momentus 7200RPM 500 GB.  I used Super Duper to clone the original drive - and the new drive will boot up OK - BUT only when in an external enclosure!  Not as the new internal drive.
I am using Mountain Lion 10.8.2
When it is in place in the MBP at start up I get the flashing Question mark.  I have tried booting from another backup drive - to use Disk Utility to repair the new drive.  but it does not show up!  I have also tried booting from OS Mountain Lion on a flash drive - but, again I cannot 'see' the new Seagate internal drive to repair it!
I have checked all the connections (taken the new drive out and put it back in several times) all connections appear to be Ok.
I have tried resetting PRAM - no difference.
So, why does it only work when connected as an external drive - and does not show up when connected as an internal drive?
    PLEASE - can anyone help?
    thanks
    Alan

Hi again  - thanks!  I recall the cable snaking around and it certainly does look as in your pic.
As I put in my first post - I do have an enclosure and it does work from that.  However, it is only via USB 2 so is slow.  As I write I have booted up from my Firewire 800 backup drive.
I will explore bot iFixit and Powerbook medic and see if they can send these parts to me - so thanks to you both for all this helpful advice!
One final question - since it WAS working when I first took out the original drive it may be that I have EITHER pulled too hard and broken a connector - or just pulled one loose
Is ther any way I can test?  How are the other ends connected?  The large block of double connectors to the drive is clear - but I have not tried specifically to remove any other ends!

  • New internal DVD drive does not burn at true speed

2 years ago, I bought a Pioneer 8x DVD/CD internal drive for my G4. The highest speed it burns at true 1 second to 1 second speed is 6x. When I select the 8x, every second that ticks off in Toast averages 2 to 5 seconds.
Fast forward to today! I just purchased and installed an NEC Model:_NEC DVD_RW ND-3550A, a 16x with dual layer capabilities.
I am having similar issues with the burn times. Not only are the seconds lasting 2-5 or more seconds but it gets down to about a minute left and I get a drive error message. I cannot succesfully burn at 16x even with speed issues. I tried it at 12x and 8x. I get a successful burn with 8x but each second lasts 2-4 seconds.
I downloaded the PatchBurn program and tried it with no improving results.
I looked at the NEC web site and all they offer for firmware is Windows based. Is there something that needs to be done to get the drive to burn actual 16x? OR is this an incompatibility issue between PCs and Macs?
I'd be happy to read your advice and suggestions.
    Thanks. Scott
    PowerMac G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    NecFlash.
If your mac is not an MDD G4, you will never get 16X burns, as the ATAPI bus on older G4's does not support the transfer mode required.
Beyond that, 16X is max rated speed, not actual burn speed across entire burn process.
Make sure your version Toast is updated to last revision (5.2.3) (6.1.1), etc.,
WWJD's comments per disc space & fragmentation are also considerations when burning DVD's.

  • Internal Hard Drive is not visible in Finder or Desktop or anywhere

The problem first and then the details.
I cannot see my systems hard drive, No icon shows up on the desktop, and it is not visible in the Finder.
It does however show up in Disk Utility.
I have repaired permissions and repaired the disk, both from within the OS and also from the install disc during a reboot.
Not here are some details. This is both a fresh install of the OS AND a brand new drive. I just had it installed today and then reinstalled the OS.
While going thru the process of reinstalling all my software, something froze for no good reason, and I eventually had to force quit the finder and when the system wouldn't shut down, I had to physically power it off.
Upon rebooting, my systems HD is no longer visible.
I suppose I can try and reinstall again, but I feel like there has to be a smarter way to deal with this.
    Any suggestions?

Have you confirmed that in Finder > Finder menu > Preferences > General and Sidebar tabs that the boxes to show hard disks are checked?

    Hello Ibrahim,
the current version of NI-SCOPE (3.8.7) does only support Labview 8.6.1 and higher (-> http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2681/lang/en). After a little research the latest supporting version I could find is 3.3.2 ( -> http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/883/lang/en), but you may have some problems when using Win7.
