My internal CD drive keep ejecting any CD or DVD.

This happens after upgrade to Marvickes. I read the different threads about this issue and tried all suggestions. But nothing worked. 1 more thing is that I noticed latest was Nov 13, so any final solution?
I have Mac Book Pro 13, late 2011
Thank you so much
Racha

It sounds like the lens on your optical drive is dirty. Use a cleaning DVD or wrap a microfiber cloth around a credit card and carefully slide it in and out a few times.

DVD Driver keeps ejecting DVD and requesting a Blank, I insert a Blank and the same message keeps coming up, any suggestions ?

    Hi
    a. You are using Cheap media as Memorex, NoName etc DVDs - I only use Verbatim
    b. You use a DL-DVD or DVD+/-RW type of media - Old Macs can not use DL-DVDs - I only use DVD-R
    c. Your DVD-burner needs a cleaning - Cleaning DVD without liquid but the brush type
    d. Is there OK free space on Your Start-Up (Macintosh HD) hard disk - I never go less than 25Gb free.
    e. Can You describe the material used to create Your DVD
    - Video Codec/s
    - Photo file formats
    - Audio file formats
iDVD can not use all but only a few of them - still it tries and then often fails
    Just to start by.

  • Using osx snow leopard with boot camp, optical drive keeps ejecting windows 7 disc

Upgraded my late 2008 macbook pro from leopard to snow leopard.  Added the max 4GB of RAM and replaced the working 250GB hard drive with a new 1TB hard drive.  Rebooted with time machine from external hard drive.  Now tried setting up Bootcamp to add a Windows 7 partition, but the optical drive keeps ejecting the Windows 7 disc after it spins for a few moments.  The optical drive will read other discs, just not the Windows 7 disc.  How do I fix this problem?

you need to install the new bootcamp drivers from windows. boot into windows, insert the snow leopard DVD, open it and follow the instructions.

  • Optical drive problem - ejects any disc

    Hi everybody,
I have 4 years old white MacBook and I have problem with cd drive - it ejects any disc right after I put one in. It doesn't seem that it's trying to read it, the disc is just ejected after few seconds. I don't know if it is software or hardware problem (but I'm afraid it's hardware). Can anybody help me?
    Thanks
    Natalia

I have same problem with my iMac but not fixed it yet. I ran a hardware check (hold down D during start up) and this did report a fault but it made no sense to me. Worth a try. Other forums suggested create a new user account and see if applies to that user. i did this too and at first the new user would accept discs but now it will not.
    Cheers

  • Drive keeps ejecting

I have a WD drive connected to my iMac so I can do Time Machine backups.  The drive keeps ejecting (dismounting) without me doing anything and the message:
"The disk was not ejected properly. If possible, always eject a disk before unplugging it or turning it off."
    comes up.  Why?

Could be a problem with the port, cable, drive, or power supply (if the drive has it's own).
It can also be a problem with the "spin down" feature of the drive -- it may spin down (or sleep) properly, but not spin back up quickly enough.
Try removing the check from the Put the hard disk(s) to sleep... box in System Preferneces > Energy Saver.
If that doesn't work, try different ports, cables, and combinations of the two. Be sure all connections are snug and secure.  If the drive has it's own power supply, check it, the cable, and the outlet it's plugged-in to.

  • Cd drive keeps ejecting cd

my iMac keeps ejecting any cd.  any ideas how i can reset or fix???

I have the same problem, sort of. When ever I put a cd in it tries to eject it, I've realized if I put my finger in front of the loader when it tries to eject then it goes back in and loads the CD and works fine.

  • Mac Book / 10.5.2 ~ Keeps ejecting CD-R but DVD's seem okay.

    Hello there,
My apologizes, I know that there are different threads throughout several discussions on this or something that may seem very similar but regrettable I have not been able to find a solution.
I have a first generation Black MacBook running 10.5.2, I had a problem with my drive and in November Apple replaced it under apple care. Currently I have a :
    MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857:
    Firmware Revision: HBEA
    Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
    Cache: 2048 KB
    Reads DVD: Yes
    CD-Write: -R, -RW
    DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +RW
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO
    Media:
    Type: CD-R
    Blank: Yes
    Erasable: No
    Overwritable: Yes
    Appendable: Yes
    Write Speeds: 8x, 24x
The problem has a few different elements:
    1. When I insert a CD-R disc that I know works (tried on a windows box), I get the standard Finder Message saying "You Inserted a blank CD. Choose an action from the pop-up menu or click Ignore." I click Eject and try again with the same result each time.
    2. When i try to record my own CD-r from a new spool it looks like it will burn but I get an error saying "... calibration problem . . ." and the disk fails.
I have tried to reset my PRAM no luck
I have tried to hold my MacBook upside down no Luck
i have re-installed 10.5.2 combined update. no luck
Checked the disk and permission . no luck.
If you are able to offer any advice it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for you help and any reply you may offer.
    In Peace,

Did this happen right after you got it back from Apple?
No it did not had burned over 50 disks before it began.. Started within the last 2 weeks. Cannot recall any particular change I made to the machine to prompt or trigger this.
If so, you should of sent it back then.
How long did you hold it upside down? The entire sequence.. Stated upside down. Put the disk in.. waited till i saw the Dialogue Box then turned it over in total about 10-15 Seconds.
When you say tried to reset pram, did you successfully do this? I believe so. .The machine restarted and beeped then went over the inital start up chime again. So i bleive it was successful
Did this start after you installed Leopard? I have only been using Leopard since I got the replacement drive. I thought 10.5.2 could have triggered it but no confirmation.
What brand of disk are you using?
Several including (imation, datawrite, princo) I know you will likely comment on the names of the disks. but i do not believe it to be the disks as even with the quality ones it is the same problem and when i place a burned disk in the drive it still thinks it is blank.
    Thanks again for the help.

  • What can I do? my macbook pro rejcets to eject any cds or dvds I put on !!!

what can I do? my macbook pro rejcets to eject any cds or dvds I put on !!!

The drive accepts discs but they do not mount or are automatically ejected
Check the disc's surface for scratches and dirt, since these things can prevent the disc from appearing on the desktop.
Reset the Power Manager (PMU) or System Management Controller (SMC).
Ensure your drive can read the specific type of disc being used. For example a "combo drive" can read a DVD-R and burn a CD-R however it cannot burn a DVD-R. The utility System Profiler may provide additional information regarding what media your computer supports.
If the discs continue to not be recognized, please contact Apple, contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or make an appointment with an Apple Retail Store for additional troubleshooting, evaluation, or service.

The MacBook Air SuperDrive is designed to be used with MacBook Air and Mac mini computers that do not have a built-in optical drive. For best results, connect the MacBook Air SuperDrive directly to the computer's USB port instead a USB hub.
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).
Ensure your drive can read the specific type of disc being used. The System Profiler or System Information may provide additional information regarding what media your computer supports.
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard or earlier: Open Apple System Profiler by choosing "About this Mac" from the Apple () menu. Then, click More Info.
OS X 10.7 Lion or later: Open System Information by choosing "About this Mac" from the Apple () menu. Then, click System Report.
If the disc continues to not be recognized, contact Apple, an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or make an appointment with an Apple Retail Store for additional troubleshooting, evaluation, or service.

  • Drive Keeps ejecting out ALL Discs....

I replaced the original with a superdrive from macsales.com due to the same problem and it still keeps ejecting all discs i put in. Once in awhile it will sound like its reading but then ejects it out again. Anyone have any solutions?

Do you mean you "replaced" using of the internal drive by connecting an external drive? Therefore, you are still able to try using the internal drive...?
To rule out a software-related cause, you can try this test. Start up with Option key held down. This will give Startup Manager, where you will see your startup disk options. That screen comes up before the OS loads. Insert your Mac OS X installation disc at that screen. If the drive hardware is working, the Mac OS X installation disc should appear in Startup Manager as a startup disk option. However, if it does the same thing with eventually ejecting the disc, then it is likely that the internal drive mechanism itself is faulty in some way.
There are optical drive cleaning kits that may be helpful, if the problem is accumulated dust inside the drive.

  • My External hard drive keeps ejecting randomly in Snow Leopard. How do I stop this, and prevent it from happening?

I'm currently running a clean install of Snow Leopard version 10.6.8, and I have done nothing but attempt to mount my external hard drive, which is a Fantom 2 TB Greendrive connected via eSATA through an ExpressCard.
It performed flawlessly in Leopard, and I had no issues with it whatsoever. Then, I performed a clean install of Snow Leopard (erased the drive, and installed via DVD), and when everything had finished, I brought up a finder window, mounted my External Hard drive, and attempted to drag a folder to the desktop. It got to about 15%, and froze. Then, a few seconds later, it told me that I had removed it without ejecting it safely.
It continues to do this every time I try to move a large file to my cleanly installed internal hard drive. It varies on the amount of time it takes to 'eject'. Sometimes the file will get almost halfway there, and then the progress freezes, the 'eject' error is thrown, and my drive dismounts.
The file is about 6.2 GB, and it's vitally important to my livelihood to get this drive working reliably. (It contains CS5 (legitimate copy), as well as extremely important personal files, and i'm a freelance Web Designer and Developer, as well as writer and blogger.)
    Short Version:
OS: 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard, clean install)
External: 2TB Fantom Greendrive (eSATA through ExpressCard)
Issue: Randomly ejects drive while transferring larger files.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

I have the same issues, The drivers are not great for eSATA right now. I think apple is puting all there effort into Thunderbolt. Ther should be a Thunderbolt to eSATA adaptor soon, untiull then you might want to get a firewire enclosure for you drive as I have had to do.
