My Internal Speaker`s aren`t working

After my laptop was really hot i opened it and for some reason the volume wasn`t working and their is no red light and no inter speaker option in my prefrence

Hopefully one of these steps should solve the problem.
1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
    Highlight  Internal Speakers
Make sure that Mute is not enabled
2. Reset PRAM.  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
3. Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    Choose the method for:
"Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
4. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
    Audio Devices window
    Side Bar
    Click the Built-in Output.
Under "Mute" any of the boxes checked? If so, uncheck it.
5. If this does not help, contact Apple.

  • My headphone jack and speaker jack aren't working right....I think....

This has been posted in the Logic Pro section too....
Hi everyone. Is it possible to damage just the left (or right) channel on the stereo out? I still don't have an audio interface yet, so I've been using the stock headphone jack for my headphones, and the stock speaker out for my Creature Speakers. They are both quieter on the left side. I think this has been happening for a couple of months, I just thought I was losing my hearing a bit on the left side, especially with headphones on. Turns out I'm OK, it's the stereo outs that aren't working right.
I found out that it's not me when I plugged in my active monitors, KRK Rokit 8s, and tried both speakers in iTunes, Garageband and Logic Pro. I played with the panning in both GB and LP, but the speakers on the left weren't as physically active/vibrating as much as the right. I did switch the inputs on the KRKs to make sure it was the channel and not the speakers.
The left channel isn't gone mind you, it just sounds quieter, more muffled with less high end. Maybe even a little distorted. I didn't want to turn it up to high to see if I could hear distortion clearly just in case.
I'm really really hoping that this isn't a hardware issue (I know that there's a 95% chance it is). I'm really hoping that there is a small preference or utility app that can control the panning of the systems output and I just don't know about it. I'm still holding out hope for that.
But if there's no hope and it is a hardware issue, any suggestions on what I should do?
Thanks for your time and sorry for the long thread. I look forward to hearing from all you geniuses.
    X

    Malcolm,
Thank you so much for your help. It turns out that the left channel was turned down to almost half in the Audio MIDI Setup utility. That is a HUGE load off my mind.
The weird thing is I haven't used AMS since I set up my computer almost two years or so ago. I know I didn't turn it down. Hmmm....
    Any thoughts in closing?
    Timotheus,
Thank you for the suggestion. Fortunately, I didn't need it, but that doesn't make your information any less useful. I learned from your post as much as I did from Malcolm's, so thank you too.
    Best,

  • Internal speaker silent but headphones work

I re-installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 on my Lenovo Thinkcentre M57, but since then, the internal speaker remains silent(but headphones work). I tried to install various drivers on lenovo webpage and elsewhere (AC'97, etc...), without result. Before this re-installation, internal speaker was working normally.

If the headphones are OK, then check your speakers. If they are powered speakers there may be a problem with the speaker's amplifier or you could have a loose connection.

    Hello,
The problem you are describing, could be a problem with the hardware itself, but before we can conclude that, you can try to do some troubleshooting steps.

  • My internal speaker on mac book pro works through external devices (e.g headphones) and a red light appears on my audio line port what should i do?

i used macbook pro  2009 OS X 10.9.5 yosemite and  i got troubled on my internal speaker  and it only works through external devices what should i do pls help?

This is the Mac Pro desktop forum. I requested your post be moved to the MacBook Pro laptop forum.
Please move the MacBook Pro forum. Thanks
Also if you mean by external is via the headphone jack then try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.

  • Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse internal speaker not working !!!

Recently I bought an used Wireless Mighty Mouse (first version with grey side buttons), the mouse is working perfectly minus the single little detail that I can not hear any clicking sound from the internal tiny speaker inside the mouse when I use the little scroll ball above the mouse or when I press the grey side buttons, is this normal or should I hear the clicking sound simulated by the internal speaker? is there a way to enable or disable the internal speaker by software? Maybe is disabled by default, I don't know. I really don't think the speaker could be damaged due to the rest of the mouse is working like a charm but maybe mine came without a speaker, could be? or maybe it got disconnected somehow. Any clues or ideas would be very helpful. Thanks !

I know what a microswitch is, please look at these links, here are the proof there is (or maybe there was) a tiny speaker in some mighty mouse and wireless mighty mouse:

    and this:

    and this:
    http://macdailynews.com/2005/08/02/apples_new_mighty_mouse_provides_audio_feedba ck_for_clicking_and_scrolling/
and I can keep giving you tens of links to proof you that actually there is (or maybe there was) a tiny speaker inside the mighty mouse and the wireless mighty mouse, If yours came without one it doesn't necessarily mean all came without one, right? That is why I asked you what version you have in order to figure out which ones does have the speaker and which one doesn't.

  • Brand new ipod-touch internal speaker suddenly stopped working all-together? Please help!

Just got my brand new, white Ipod- Touch and was surfing on youtube, watched a video and mid video the sound just vanished. now no sounds come from the internal speaker whatsoever, but headphones still work. I have tried restarting it as well as reseting, can anyone help me?! Thanks a lot!

That sounds like a mechanical problem.  You might want to insert and remove the headphone plug several times and see if it fixed the issue.  If it does not, call Apple.  800-275-2273 in the U.S.A. and I think Canada.

  • Internal speaker doesn't work with mountain lion

my internal speaker doesn't work after installation of mountain lion

    Hi,
    Long shot, but...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

  • My internal speaker don't work

Anyone had a problem that internal speaker on a MacBook Pro (summer 2010) stop work after using of headset?

System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
Make sure Mute is not enabled.
If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
in and out of the port 5 or 6 to flip the microswitch inside.
Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.

  • Stuck in dock connecter mode but can also be switched to AirPlay and head phone jack works but not internal speaker?

My Iphone 4S is all the time in dock connector mode. This give me no sound at all then ringtones. If I sett Music to use AirPlay, I get internal speaker to work. Then I have sound when I get SMS and other "biips". Else My 4S is quiet.  I can lisen to music in my headphones and it "biips" there.

    Hello Besibert
    This is a hardware issue.
To resolve this issue you need to try some unorthodox methods to get some results. Try to insert the headset back into the port and "wiggle" it while pulling it out and then inserting it back in. Try this a couple of times and see if this helps.
The reason for this is because there's a "lever" or spring mechanism that got stuck. No hard reset or soft reset will fix this (I speak from experience).

  • IPad (1st gen.)  headphone jack just stopped working, Internal speaker works fine

iPad (1st gen.)  headphone jack just stopped working, Internal speaker works fine

If the headphones work in another device, then the headphones are OK.
If different headphones work in the iPad, then the iPad is OK. If not, check the headphone socket for fluff ot other debris. If you see nothing, try repeated plugging and unplugging several times.
Resetting the ipad may do the trick as well.

  • Sony VAIO Flip internal speaker not working why?

    Hi,
First time posting, first time Sony laptop user. I've had this Sony VAIO Flip 15 - SVF15N17CXB, laptop for a few months now everything has been working fine. Til lately I been hearing static on my laptop when I played music or videos. I managed to look up some of the common problems and adjusted my audio options til I got it fixed, and it worked.
Until now, where I can only hear from he left internal speaker on my laptop. It was working fine earlier, but now it seems to have given out. I don't know if I blew it out or maybe I messed up the settings. I've tried updating my driver it says I have he latest one. I've uninstalled the driver, reboot my system, and it automatically reinstalled it, but still nothing.
I'm not sure if I need to get it repaired or etc. I would take it to the Sony store, but they permanently closed all their locations in Canada. Please help, it is greatly appreciated!
    Sincerely,
    Eddie
