Check your logs as indicated in System Profiler, check Airport card type, there are 2 to my understanding, Atheros and Broadcom. I have both flavors of black macbooks, the older one with Atheros card doesn't appear to have the problem but it is in the same room as the router.
If your problem is as described above the only current fix is performing an Archive & Install back to 10.5.2. Most Leopard DVD's are 10.5.1 so you would have to apply the 10.5.2 combo update after performing the A&I. Going back to 10.5.2 should restore Airport card performance.
Note: If your router is in the same room, you might also try going outside with the laptop and testing connectivity, N is supposed to work better farther away (assuming the WIFI card is performing correctly).
All the testing I have done (3ea Archives and Installs) shows the problem is fine with 10.5.2 and only breaks when 10.5.3 or higher is applied. Since I can "restore" and fix the problem, it tells me it is a software problem initiated with the release of 10.5.3. The logs should verify that.

First confirm that you can create a PDF file of your book as described in this Apple document: iPhoto '11: Preview a book, card, or calendar before you order or print it. Post back with the results.

  • I'm having trouble staying connected to the internet

I'm having trouble "staying" connected to the internet.

    hmmmmmmm..........
How are you connected to "the internet?"  There are many ways & you provided none.
If wireless, are you using one of Apple's routers, or a 3rd part one?  If the latter post in their forums or contact their tech support department.
    Last but not least:
Please detail all you have done to resolve your issue.  Need this information so that the users can avoid the "been there, done that" scenario type responses.  This is to avoid repeating the troubleshooting you may have already tried.  Thank you.

Having trouble with connectivity, no internet connection away from home, can't check Facebook, weather, scores.......

if you don't have a dataplan and rely on wifi for internet that is how it works
if you do have a dataplan it sounds like it's not set up correctly in which case you should contact your carrier

  • We use an Airport Extreme in my office, which works fine for me. Occasionally we need to have more than one computer running on it, but for some reason it won't connect to the internet. It says we have internet, but won't connect to wifi. What's going on?

I use my computer everyday in our office and have no issue connecting to the internet/wifi, but when my boss comes in and tries to connect it doesn't work. It tells her she has internet, but won't connect to the wifi. We've tried a few different tactics(the basic ones I've seen on here), but nothing seems to be working for us. My computer automatically connects to our wifi.
Just recently the Airport Extreme has started with the blinking amber colored light on the front, which I believe means something is wrong? Can anyone help us figure out what's going on and why we can't get my boss' computer to connect as it should?
    Thank you!

    Here's an update:
Now the light is not blinking. It's a solid, consistant green. I don't know if it helps to narrow it down or anything, but I just figured I'd mention it.

  • Mail app intermittently fails to connect - internet accounts preferences cannot connect, then unable to verify name or password. Why?

Running 10.10.2 on early 2011 MBP, 8 GB RAM.
Mail app intermittently fails to connect - message: internet accounts preferences cannot connect, then unable to verify name or password.  No problem with iPhone to connect same 3 accounts. Have run Disk Utility and rebooted. What is happening?

Same issue, too.  But I have nothing better to do than try to fix Apple problems that appear mysteriously and randomly; I'm sure you're the same way.
The REAL REASON, which can no longer be overlooked, is that Apple's (probably underpaid sweatshop Chinese) employees build toys for grown-ups and do little more than that.  I wish I had never bought my Mac (2009) since few things about Apples are "intuitive" unless you've been an Apple cultist since Jobs introduced the first Mac.  Oh, and because things mysteriously stop working, something I don't recall happening with any of the PCs I've owned.
Apple's version of Excel is a total joke and on an update that I did not ask for, the "Save As" feature, a convention that was 30 years old and worked well, was removed in favor of "Duplicate, Rename, Save."  What 22 year-old Apple product manager was allowed to make this change?
I foolishly compounded my Mac purchase error by buying an iPhone 4S.  On that lovely ($200 Verizon-subsidized) product, I can no longer discover my home network, rendering my ($100) Airplay for outdoor music useless.  (But I probably can post a picture directly to Facebook or something!  More toyish behavior in which Apple specializes.)  Can I get support on these POS with a phone call?  No, I need to rely on a Aapl cultist to devise some esoteric key combo or a "jailbreak" on a Support board or blog site.
I'm eligible for a phone upgrade on 8/13 and I'm counting the days.  Will upgrade to a good large-screen laptop asap as well and then throw the Mac out my office window.  Junk, just junk.  Apple's stock is at $433 from $700 and it's still overpriced.  How long will this rant last before it's sanitized by the Cupertino Big Brother? Maybe what the children who design product ought to do instead is BUILD BETTER STUFF.

my battery dies quicker than before, even without using the phone
aslo it shuts down unxpectedly (sometimes shuts down at 30% then i cant restart it until i blog it to the charger)
and sometimes jumps from 40% to 20% or from 20% to 3%
i have done many things people recommanded it for me like :
restore : i've done two restores and it gets better for the first 1-2 weeks then it gets worse than before.
also deleted my music list (19gb) in order to make this better (as recommended) but it still the same
my screen brightness is always ALWAYS low , almost the lowest.
i close the apps when i finish using them ALL OF THEM
i dont use the camera and flash , almost rarely. just to save battery.
i dont use the location service always.
i dont charge my phone until it shuts down and i dont unblog it until it reachs 100%
    basically i have tried eveything.

Install or Reinstall OS X from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

i am trying to connect to my friend's wifi, i have a very strong signal indicated on my ipad, but cannot connect to the internet.  Yesterday i connected without any problem, can anybody tell me why i cannot connect today?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Were you definitely connected to the internet at the time? If you don't have iOS 5 on your iPhone then the only way to update it would be via iTunes, once updated to the latest version of iOS you'll be able to update your iPhone without connecting to iTunes "over-the-air".
Before updating however it goes without saying to Backup your iPhone, this should happen by default upon connecting your iPhone to iTunes.

  • Upgraded to ADSL2 now get slower speeds than befor...

    Hello
Well last Tuesday my line was upgraded to the 20mb ADSL2 and I was looking forward to some increase in bandwidth (even though before the upgrade my line was pumping 7mb most of the time which I was happy with)
Now for some reason I am getting slower speeds than before I upgraded. Something tells me I should not have bothered with the amount of effort it took to get the upgrade.
I cant understand why my DL is saying 3000+ and before upgrade it was reading 7500+
I have not reset my hub manually all disconnections have been done automatic.

  • Having problems with connectivity on IO7

Since the most recent upgrade for my iphone, IO7.4 my connectivity is spotty.  I live in the tampa bay area of Florida.  Before IO7 my connection was very good with SPRINT LTE.  Now it is much more sporadic.  I read some of the SPRINT forums about this and a technician for SPRINT pointed to apple and said that there was a software glitch causing this problem.  I have peformed a dial up exercise to update the carrier build from the SPRINT side. Now I am checking fromt the apple side... So what I notice is that my reception with Pandora drops frequentlu which never happened before IO7. Also with google a lot times I cannot get a connection.  Can you advise? TY.

I'm sorry you are having issues with connectivity on iOS 7. Have you tried resetting you network settings? If not try going into settings->general->reset->reset network settings. See if that helps.

Why the ios7 made my iphone  4 slowest than before and it made it stucking , os there any way to downgrade it ? Please i need solution

No way to downgrade... Apple does Not support downgrading.
    However... Try these Troubleshooting tips...
    Try this First...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...

  • AE connecting to Internet OK, but not connecting to networked server

    Hi everyone --
I'm the lone Mac user in a Windows environment, and today I implemented an AE as a base station for wireless connectivity.
Before, I had our ethernet cable plugged into the back of my Mac mini. With it, I could access both the Internet as well as our Windows 2000-based server on our network. The volumes on the server would show up in the Finder when I would see what networks were available. All was good and (almost) as it should be.
I installed the AE and connected the ethernet cable to it. After running the AirPort Utility, I have wonderful internet connectivity, but I can no longer connect to our office server. I've looked through the FAQs here and through the discussions but didn't stumble across anything.
Can anyone tell me what I'm missing here? Many thanks in advance!
    WLWEsq

You need to disable the router built into the Airport Express, and enable "bridge mode". To do this, run the Airport Utility, and click "Manual Setup". Click on the Internet button, select the "Internet Connection" tab, and next to "Connection Sharing" select "Bridge Mode". Update settings to your Airport Express. That should do it.
