My internet is slow on my Macbook.

But..... only on my home internet. On all other networks it is fine and all other devices in the house work fine.

try changing your dns - system preferences - network - advanced - dns - see image below.
good luck - hope you get it sorted out..

  • Internet really slow on my macbook

I am using linksys WRT54G for my macbook and two imacs. The internet is so much slower on my macbook than on the imacs. I can't use the CD for setup because that is only for windows and i am using a mac. How is it possible that internet speed is so much slower on one computer and not on the other two, but im using the same router? Is there something wrong with the configuration on my macbook? Someone told me to type in the router on my web browser and change the setting to allow only G-access, but that didnt affect the speed. I dont know what to do

Sounds like a corrupted cache file, see the OnyX routine here.

  • Why is my internet running slow on my macbook pro?

About a month ago I hooked up a router for me and my fiancees to use our laptops. She has a pc and I have a macbook pro. Everything was working fine, but for the past week, the internet on my mac has been running painfully slow. Her internet is working just fine, but mines is almost non-existent. I plugged the modem directly into my mac to see what happened and it worked fine then. But when i hooked up the router again it essentially stopped working again. In lamen's terms how can i fix this?

  • Internet Connection Slow on Macbook Pro (Mid 2010)

All of the sudden, this past week, my internet has been running quite slow on my Macbook Pro.  This problem is with the Macbook itself and not with the internet connection (I have connected to various networks and my other wifi devices run well on them).  I am not experiencing a problem connecting to various networks, but only the internet speed on all my browsers is the issue.
Has anyone experienced this issue before?  Do you have a suggested remedy?
    Thanks for your help.

  • My internet has slowed down, other macs in the household seem to be fine.

I have had no problems with my macbook air but for the last few days the internet has slowed right down but this does not seem to be a problem for other members of the household using the same wireless internet. They mostly have Macbook Pro's.Any thoughts?

  • How can an external drive cause my Internet to slow to a crawl and then fail?

I have two WD My Passport Ultra 1 TB USB 3 new drives. One I'm using for Time Machine and one for CCC (Carbon Copy Cloner). I have been trying to use them with my new MacBook Pro retina 13-inch.
For the last few days I've had weird problems trying to connect them via a USB 3 hub. I though the hub was the problem (because things seemed to be fine until I introduced a hub into the equation) and already returned one.
But now I see the same thing happening even without the hub.
It appears that one drive, when connected to a USB 3 port (it doesn't matter which port), even when it's doing nothing (I erased and and removed the CCC task), causes the Internet to slow to a crawl, and then stop. All connectivity ceases.
The instant I unmount and remove the drive the Internet springs back to normal speeds - over wifi about 110 Mbps.
Disk Utility says there are no problems with the disk. So does WD's only diagnostic utility. And the firmware is up-to-date.
The other disk, running Time Machine, seems to have no issues at all.
I guess I will return this drive. It could be subtly defective in some way. But what way? Why would an external USB 3 drive affect the Internet connectivity?
    doug

I came across this post while in search of the answer to the very same question only I am experiencing this problem when connecting to a USB 3.0 hub and nothing else.  The resuling slowdown in my internet speed leaves me hanging intermittently between screens in Safari, sometimes indefinitely.  When I remove the USB cable, normal speeds resume.  Activity Monitor shows no undue load on the CPU.  I did not notice this problem until just recently.  Could this have something to do with the recent OSX patch.
BTW: I am running a 2012 15" MacBook Pro with Retina display.
Anybody have a clue as to what might be going on here?
    Gerry

  • Internet runs slow on my Mac mini

My internet runs slow on my Mac mini after I loded the new OS

I sopped by the apple store with my Mac book air.  It worked well.   I took it home still same problem I have two wireless networks Uverse and AirPort Extreme.  My iMac was connected to the Uverse and the MacBook Air and Mac mini was connected to the Airport. When I connect all three to the Uverse everything works well. When I connect any one to the AirPort it is very slow. It worked fine with the old OS but not with the new OS. Is look like problem is with the AirPort Extreme and the new OS.

  • Yosemite upgrade slowing down my Macbook

Hi - I recently upgraded to Yosemite OS X and it has slowed down my Macbook (2011 model, 2Gb RAM). Everything runs painfully slow - booting up, opening any applications, opening Chrome, Thunderbird - EVERYTHING. Its been suggested I add RAM but not being a techie Mac user i havent a clue how to do that and not really sure i want to throw more RAM at an old-ish machine. I read on the forum about EtreCheck and am hoping this report may help me get some answers?
    Thanks

  • My downloads and internet is slow

Recently, I noticed that my Computer took extremly long to download torrents, software updates  regular downloads eg. Application, music.. and also just browsing the internet. Its taking my macbook 26hours to update its software, can anyone help me speed up my internet. In my house is another computer, windows and its fine, its internet speed isn't slow only on my macbook.

I am going to assume that you are using the Macbook with wireless and the Winbox is plugged into the router directly?
There are many things that can cause wireless speed or connectivity to drop in quality. Interference, distance, walls, other routers in the area that are near the same channel.
Try connecting with a network cable to see if the speed improves. Then we can narrow down what the problems are.

  • Internet browsing slow

    My internet browsing is slow.
    Using:
    MacBook Pro
    Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013
Processor  2.4 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory  16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Software  OS X 10.9.5 (13F34)
Just run a internet speed test (all tests has run several times to account for one run that were not a good sample)
On my macbook (the one with problems. Done before reboot): download 7.5 Mbps / Upload 3.1 Mbps (wireless)
On my macbook (the one with problems. Done after reboot): download 22 Mbps / Upload 9.6 Mbps (wireless)
I must add that before the upgrade of my internet connection (running then at 50 Mbps) my new macbook speed was 49 Mbps to donwload (that was several months ago)
On another old macbook pro (about 6 years old): download 35 Mbps / Upload 9.5 Mbps (wireless)
On another old macbook pro (about 6 years old): download 73.1 Mbps / Upload 9.6 Mbps (ethernet cable)
    iPhone 5: download 22.3 Mbps / Upload 10 Mbps
iPad Air: download 19 Mbps / Upload 10 Mbps
Test on my new macbook run on Safari and Chrome with similar results.
I think it is proved there is a problem.
I do not run any security software in my new mackbook
One month ago I notice that my browser was taking long time to load a page and sort of fixed cleaning caches and other parts of the system
See below the paste of the output of a script that I got from some other thread with a similar problem. I am happy to disable software step by step if you think relevant as otherwise my next step is going to be a fresh installation of the OS

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Who can shed some light on my ongoing connection problem.
After upgrading my iPad Air with IOS 7.06, I could no longer connect to the internet.
I have 2 MacBooks Air, 1 ipad mini and one iPhone 4S running on the same network, and they are all connected to the net and function well.
So I cleaned up the ipad completely, installed the latest firmware and reinstalled my apps : no connection.
I tried all things of resets and forgets. No result.
I have been fondling with my Airport Extreme 5 , but that did not help much.
This morning I went to a neighbor , hooked my ipad air on his network, typed the password and the thing all worked fine.
I have tried to connect the ipad air as an ethernet client, but that did not work. „Not enough power“ was the statement
    Ideas anyone ?

Yes I tried this manyfold. But did not work.  Reading on, I took Tesserac's advice. Shut down router and computer.
Start router after 15 minutes and wait another 10 minutes before starting the computer.
Et voila.... everything is back in working order,

  • How do i install internet explorer 11 to my macbook air

How do i install internet explorer 11 to my macbook air

Internet Explorer is for Windows only and could be considered to be malware
Therefore the only options to do this are -
Install Windows in to a virtual machine using either VMware Fusion, Parallels, or VirtualBox, and then you can run Internet Explorer as normal
Or, install Internet Explorer via CodeWeavers "CrossOver Mac" - see http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=12714 however while older versions of Internet Explorer are working newer versions look like they don't work with this method.

  • HT5730 After I installed 10.8.48.4 Internet browsing slowed down to the pace of a dial-up connection.  How can I get back to normal operating speed?

After I installed 10.8.4, my Internet browsing slowed down to the pace of a dial-up connection -- unless it froze up completely.  How do I get my system back to a normal operating mode?  Can I dump 10.8.4 and go back to the one that at least worked?

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them.
    1. Have you restarted your router and broadband modem since you first noticed the problem? If the answer is no, do that now and see whether there's any change.
    2. Are any other web browsers installed, and are they also slow?
    3. What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
    4. Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they also slow?
    5. If you can test Safari on another network, is it slow there too?
    6. If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

  • How do I connect TC to a new ethernet and share a new ethernet DSL with a new PC and use with my macbook Pro? I tried and get no internet on the PC or Macbook Pro?

how do I connect TC to a new ethernet and share a new ethernet DSL with a new PC and use with my macbook Pro? I tried and get no internet on the PC or Macbook Pro?

    Ok.
I am connected to wi-fi through TC connected to a specific router and is working perfectly and saving data through TM without any issues.
The TC version is 7.6.1 and am using OS 10.7.3
The router mode is on Bridge mode and router is connected to TC through USB cable, I suppose for internet access. My Mac is on wi-fi through TC
I have another location, much further, which recently have been installed with wi-fi through router that has WPA accessibiulity with password, 100% different than the current one.
Since, I will be most of my time in this new location, I wish to move my TC to this new location, and configure it in similar fashion like what I am having right now.
Naturally, I do not wish to lose any saved data on the TC.
Hope I managed to provide enought info.
    Thanks in advance

  • Illustrator CS4 is extremely slow on my MacBook Pro

Illustrator CS4 (14.0.0) is running extremely slow on my MacBook Pro. After selecting an object nothing happens for 3 seconds, than the color wheel rotates for 3 seconds, then I can continue working. This is repeated for any new action, like select, rotate, copy, etc. The ActivityMonitor shows 100,2 % CPU usage during these seconds, all other processes are between 0 and 1,5%. All other CS4 programs are running fine.
I have no other application running at the same time, I chose "performance" over battery lifetime in the system preferences, deleted all the "Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings" in the preferences folder for a fresh start, used the Adobe CleanSwipe tool, all installed printers are on and connected, HD has lots of free space, I work only from the local HD, have only 60 fonts installed - but no improvement. Even if I have a new document with only one object in it, this goes very slow.
Then I followed one of the recommendations in this community, installed a new user account, started Illustrator from there - and the problem was completely gone, reaction time and speed as it should be!!
Something in my initial (admin-)account is causing this problem - does anyone have a clue what it could be?
Any hint would be appreciated very much.
    MacBook Pro 15" Oct 2009, 2,66 Ghz, 4GB, GeForce 9400M+9600M GT, HD 500GB (7200rpm), Mac OS X 10.6.3

That are 2 very good leads, but unfortunately I already tested that: I uninstalled all fonts, so there are only system fonts left - no improvement. I also started the admin account without any start elements (pressing "shift" during boot) - no improvement. The processes (all of them) except Illustrator are all at 0%, some can reach 0,7% - only Illustrator itself is at 100,4% for these few seconds. There is no difference between the admin account and the second user account regarding the Activity Monitor.
But the solution must be somewhere in the difeerence between the two accounts - user preferences, application support files, ???
