My internet plug-ins don't function. That is Flash, Adobe reader, Silverlight and I don't know what else. Any solutions to the problem?

I'm using Firefox 11 on an Intel iMac OS 10.6.8. This problem has just presented itself. First noticed it after intalling the latest Flash plug in 11.2.
Then realised that in fact I wasn't able to read a pdf on a web site or watch videos that need Microsoft Silverlight. Tried cleaning temp files and cookies, and
restoring permissions which were corrupted for Flash and Java script but to no avail. Anyone with any ideas please?

Firefox does not support most plug-ins.
But there is a workaround!
Open Firefox and type in the address bar: about:config (no spaces) and click return. This gives you a warning that it might harm the application. Ignore that and click on 'I'll be careful, I promise' and you get the config file that you can edit - with great care.
Look/search (scroll down) for: firefox.plugins.enabled
Set it to true. (Double click it to toggle it)
Now close Firefox, open it again, and Flash etc will now work, as it now uses the plug-ins that Safari has stored.

    I'm having the same issue...
According to the Shockwave homepage, I have the lastest version installed. It's only when I visit the Firefox plug-in update page, that I'm told it's outdated.

iPhones do not have international warranties. The only place in which you can get Apple service on your phones would be Hong Kong. Unless you have AppleCare, neither of these phones is under warranty. It is likely that the best Apple could offer you is an out-of-warranty replacement.

  • HT202447 Drive Utility: Permissions differ on "Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin"; should be lrwxr-xr-x ; they are drwxr-xr-x .

I downloaded & installed Java 7 for Mountain Lion 10.8.3 from http://www.java.com/download/mac_download.jsp . Upon running Verify Permissions in Drive Utility I receive the following messgae: Permissions differ on “Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin”; should be lrwxr-xr-x ; they are drwxr-xr-x . Disk Utilities is unable to repair the permissions error.

Sorry, what I meant is I was getting the message "missing plugin", so I thought I had to repair Permissions and every time I tried I got that message “Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin”; should be lrwxr-xr-x ; they are drwxr-xr-x", but then I followed Java instructions. I went back to Java 6 and finally I could access my bank.
I came across this article on the internet:
For the second time in a month, Apple has effectively blacklisted the current version of the Java Web plugin on OS X. The block comes just days after it was discovered that the latest version of the plugin, which had been rushed out to patch a critical vulnerability, can still be exploited despite its heightened security mechanisms.
Apple has worked to distance itself from Java in recent years. The company deprecated its own version of the Java virtual machine for OS X, instead deferring development to Oracle itself. The browser plugin in particular has become a common vector for malware attacks, and Apple removed the Java Web plugin from recent versions of OS X last year. Those needing the plugin must install it separately.
I even tried "About Java for OS X 2013-003", but it also didn't work.
That's why I decided to uninstalled Java 7 and installed 6 again and it worked.
    Thank you anyway.

  • I don't know what else to try to download iTunes! Please help!

I'm going crazy... I have been reading forums and troubleshooting pages for about 15 hrs and I do not know what else to try. I have 32-bit Win Vista and it will not let me download iTunes. I have run my anti-virus, my spyware remover, cleaned my registry, emptied my temporary internet files folder, restored my hard drive, and I tried turning off my anti-virus and spyware remover and then downloading... nothing works. First I was getting the pop-up box that said it does not recognize the publisher... when I tell it to continue anyway I get the "this is not a valid Win32 application" error. The past few times that I have tried to download it, I get an error that says the connection with the server was lost. I really don't think there is a problem with my connection. I hope that all made sense... I have been staring at this screen for so long that I can't think anymore. If anybody has any other suggestions to try, Please let me know!
    Thanks,
    Heather

  • Internet Plug-Ins

My friend just got a MacMini and I've had a Mac G5 for a long time and when I first got it I had to go through some troublesome things to get Safari to ruyn the way I wanted it to. His MacMini is an intel based computer and I was wondering how i could get some internet plug-ins for windows media player to work properly in a safari page. I remember before that I searched for a while before i figured out how to get the right plugin to play windows media player videos normally on Safari. Does anyone know how to get these? I know I can't get Flip4Mac on intel-based macs because they don't have any up to date versions of it, although I know it should be able to play windows media in Safari. Any help?

    Hi,
Rosetta is for Intel Mac's only. The purpose of Rosetta is to make programs think they are running on a PPC chip

  • When I try to install some plugins I get "Can't find Internet Plug-ins folder". Friends with the same machine using the same browser can download just fine.  What gives?

When I try to install a plugin in any browser on my Mac Mini or my MacBook Pro, I get a "Can't find Internet Plug-Ins folder" message.  Other friends with the same machines can install the plugin just fine.  We can't find any reason why the plugin won't install on mine.  Any ideas out there?
    Thanks,

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select

from the contextual menu.* An Info dialog should open.
Does the dialog show "You can only read" in the Sharing & Permissions section?
In the General section, is the box labeled Locked checked?
    What is the Modified date?

  • How do i disable internet plug ins?

My laptop is telling me that if i want to watch anything on netflix i have to disable an internet plug in, i dont know where to locate the library to be able to do this though, can someone help me out please?

Under the Safari Help menu (furtherest to right) select "Installed plug-ins." You'll open a page that lists your installed Internet plug-ins. Netflix requires Microsoft's Silverlight plug-in to view content so make sure that it shows as installed.
If you need to remove a plug-in, see -> http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11931?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US.
    Good luck,

If you need to re-enable an out-of-date version of Flash Player, you can do the following:
Navigate to the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins (Disabled) folder.
    Drag "Flash Player.plugin" into /Library/Internet Plug-Ins.
If the browser is running, quit and restart it.

  • Manage Client Internet Plug-Ins

I was interested in seeing if anyone has any idea how to prevent users from being able to modify browser plug-in settings for Safari. To make things clear I already know how to prevent users from installing browser add-ons onto their Mac's (I have taken care of this simply by removing the clients local administrative rights). I am simply trying to figure out some way to prevent clients from managing the plug-in settings, such as the ability to choose which websites Adobe Flash Player can be used on. Is there a terminal command which can be used to fade out (not turn off) the "Allow Plug-ins" checkbox along with "Manage Website Settings" box?

    These are your third-party plug-ins.
I wouldn't delete them, just drag them out of the Internet Plug-Ins folder.
AdobePDFViewer.plugin <- Adobe Reader/Acrobat will install a new plug-in the next time you launch it.
So, first launch Adobe Reader/Acrobat and go to->Preferences->Internet->'Display PDF in browser when using' should be unchecked.
It might even delete the plug-in when you reset it's Preferences.
    ContentUploaderPlugin.plugin
    DivXBrowserPlugin.plugin
    GoogleOneClickPluginDeluxe.plugin
    npdivx.xpt
    npUpload.xpt
    RealPlayer Plugin.plugin
