My internet provider use 802.1x profile with MD5 protocol.

I want to make wireless net at home with Air port Extreme. With it I cannot connect to the internet. My provider use verification 802.1x with MD5 protocol. I was trying to make new profile with iPCU (iPhone Configuration Utility) but found that now MD5 is not supporting.
How I can connect the Air port Extreme?

Unfortunately but I did not found in the article how to configure profile.
Before in Mac OS Snow Leopard or earlier it was possible to choose authentication type: TTLS, EAP, TLS, EAP-FAST, LEAP, MD5.
At the present moment in the iPCU (iPhone configuration utility) it is possible to choose: TLS, TTLS, LEAP, PEAP, EAP-FAST, EAP-SIM.
In the manual for iOS 5 it is written that in the new OS MD5 protocol is not supported.
Does it mean that I cannot connect to the local provider?

More text not working after using bluetooth map profile with bmw

Hello,
I am using my BB9360 in my BMW. Everything is working fine, emails, contacts, schedulke and tasks are displayed. But after leaving the car my BB is not able to complete an email (more text). After doing an restart (BB) the "more text" menu is working again. Disabling the email accounts in the bluetooth map options is a work around.
I swapped the hardware witth no effect.
I am running OS 7.1 Paket 1133 v7.1.0.336
Any suggestions or ist it a known bug?

I have exactly the same issue with BMW iDrive on a Dec 2011 M3 and Bold 9900 using the snap-in adaptor and bluetooth - but thanks for the workaround, was really doing my nut not being able to download more!
Would prefer a bug fix though of course - am up to date on latest versions for the 9900 on Vodafone UK, but I have an outstanding update on the iDrive which I will do and let you know the result.

Someone seems to be using a msn profile with my gmail account

About a month ago I received an email (to my gmail) form Microsoft accounts team that there had been unusual activities from my account attached to that particular Gmail id. I do have a microsoft account but that is not linked to my Gmail. Alarmed I immediately
tried to reclaim the msn account linked to my Gmail address. This is where I am highly disappointed with Microsoft. I registered my mobile number and received a code to my phone. When I entered the code it said that I should try with my gmail. And again when
I tried it said that it has technical issues and to try again later. After a few attempts it claimed that I have crossed the maximum number of tries. So I repeated the whole exercise again. Since it failed with the same "technical issues" I tried
again after a few days.
Given that it is a month now I am wondering whether this would ever be solved? How come that the codes sent to phone and emails does not work, but someone in a different country can create an account attached to my Gmail and send spam emails?

Airport Express can also support WPA which is more secure. I'm not sure what you mean by WEP is disappearing. Once a encryption is activated, someone will need to have your administrator password to remove it.
Use the Airport Network Administrator utility located in your Utilities folder which is inside the Application Folder. It will allow you to go to the Airport Express setting and change the security settings. I suggest you to use WPA encryption.

Looks like you are working with a vintage product and the operating system is a little outdated, which makes it harder to troubleshoot. It's possible that it doesn't support WPA (depending on the Airport card built-in). Otherwise, if you can connect via ethernet, check for software updates. It even might be as simple as restarting the computer.

1.) What are you doing with the App-V Icon path? e.g. %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\AppV\Client\Integration\<GUID>\Root\AppVClientUX.exe.0.ico ?
I guess you could workaround it with deploying the icons to a central location and then pointing to the icon out on a central share. Or put the icons in a machine location...I haven't had this issue but that's just off the top of my head.
2.) I have not used App-V 4.6 in an environment like yours BUT would pre-caching the applications be possible? Any chance you'll be moving those apps into App-V 5.0 soon?

MAB and 802.1x issues with IP-phone

I'm trying to use 802.1x to authenticate clients on my network with dynamic VLAN assignment from RADIUS. We have IP-Phones(powered by PoE) that only supports EAP-MD5, and we would rather use MAB(it also uses LLDP-MED for some settings) to authenticate the phones using the MAC-range from the phones vendor. The following scenario works perfect:
Connect the phone and let it boot up(takes a while) and authenticate with MAB.
Connect a computer in the phones data-port and let it authenticate with 802.1x(or fail and reach guest-vlan)
However, the following scenario doesn't work:
The computer is already connected to the phone
The phone is then connected to the switch
What happends now is that the computer is authenticated using 802.1x before the phone boots up and get's authenticated with MAB. When the phone is ready, it's authenticated with MAB and everything works. However, after a short period(let's say a minute), using `debug authentication all`, we see a "NEW LL MAC: phones mac" message(which is weird since the mac has already been MAB-authenticated), and then we are unable to contact the phone using ping. When I check `show mac address-table` it has now moved the mac from `Port Gi 0/12` to `Port Drop`. However, if I check `show mab interface Gi 0/12` or `show authentication sessions` it lists the phones-mac as `mab auth sucess `.
Can anyone explain why the first scenario works, and not the second?

Btw, when we tried authenticating the phones using 802.1x too (EAP-MD5), there are NO problems in any of the scenarios. However, we want to use MAB instead of 802.1x to avoid the requirement of configuring the phones with a username and password. The RADIUS response was the same when using 802.1x as it is with MAB for the phones (including device-traffic-class=voice AV-pair).

Hey. Yes, as specified in the last sentence in my post, the phone is placed in the Voice Domain, and both RADIUS and LLDP-MED (network policy profile 1) specifies voice vlan as 90.
The weird thing is that everything works fine if both use 802.1x, and that there is only a problem when phone(using MAB) already has the computer connected to it, when the phone is turned on(connected to PoE-switch). It must be because the computer boots up and authenticates first I think.
The phones are Snom 821.

Please tell me why I am now prompted to submit my password for my internet provider ? In the past with all the upgrades this has never been requested before and I wish to know if my computer has been compromised.

I have no idea who "your system" is. Thunderbird is email client software that runs on your computer. When you get or send mail your email providers server asks for a password. You can enter this yourself or have Thunderbird remember the password and provide it for you.

802.1X Authentication with InTouch

Dear Community,
does anybody know if/when it's possible to use 802.1X authentication with the TelePresence InTouch 10?
It perfectly works on the C/SX codecs and as long as the Panels are connected directly to the Codec, there is no issue. But on some codecs, direct pairing is not possible and therefore I would need 802.1X authentication from the panels itself.

802.1x authetication with dynamic Vlan assignment by a radius server

At school I want to start using 802.1x authentication with dynamic Vlan assignment by a Windows Server 2012R2 Radius server.
When a student logs in, I want it to be placed in the "Students" Vlan, when a Administrative employee logs in, I want it to be placed in the "Administative" vlan and when the client is unknown I want to place it in the "Guest" Vlan.
I have several SG200 switches and I configured everything as mentioned in the administrative guide but I cannot get it to work as desired.
What does work:
- If the client is permitted, the switch changes to "authorized" state. (before anyone logs on to the domain with that client)
- When a User logs on that is part of the Administrative employees, the switch changes to "authorized" and when a student logs on, it changes to "unauthorized".
So far so good.
But what doesn't work:
- it does not put the administrative employee in the Vlan "Administrative", it just enables the port on the switch but leaves it in the default vlan 1.
- I can not find the Guest VLAN.
Any help would be appriciated.

Two profiles on same computer, when one has Firefox open and connected to the Internet, Firefox in the other profile does not connect

automatic updater has updated Firefox on profile "Gordon" but on profile "Leslie" it still shows the earlier release. These two may be in conflict. It seems like there might be a Windows problem as the "Leslie" profile is using a different release...

That is as it should be, you can only have one default browser and one default profile, If Firefox is already open you will use the profile that is in use, unless you open with -no-remote on the start
for the second Firefox. Never use -no-remote on the default profile and never use the default profile with -no-remote and you will avoid problems.

Look, there are 2 steps where I’m working:
1. - First I need to use the MD5 to sign the original source chain that contains all the information of the electronic billing; then after obtain the sign,
2. - I need to encrypt the data using the encryption algorithm RSA of 1024 bits.
All this is the complement to give a valid electronic billing.
I will review the package that you mentioned, but if you have any other reference about this I will appreciate it.

Could you start by resetting the zoom level on the page? To do that, you can either:
* Press Ctrl+0 (that's a zero) on the keyboard
* View menu > Zoom > Reset

Can a Time capsule be used to provide internet on a guest network but with no access to my files ?

I was recently given a brand new 3TB time capsule.
I would firstly like to partition the drive if possible ? to store films and some old photos etc
I would then like to create a private network for myself with access to the time machine back ups and the partition with my films and photos in
I Would then need to create a guest network for my house mates to use with access solely to the internet and none of my files. is this possible ?
Also, if this is not possible,would it then be possible to plug in an external hard drive to the time capsule (containing my films and old photos etc) and access these files wirelessly on my network ? but also stop my guests from accessing these files over their network ?

It is possible in theory, but not easy in practice, and it will void the warranty on the Time Capsule if you attempt to do this. In general, you would need to open up the Time Capsule, remove the hard drive, place the hard drive in a separate enclosure or caddy, connect it directly to your Mac, and use Disk Utility to format the drive. Then, you would need to reinstall the drive back in the Time Capsule and hope that everything works.
Instead of partitioning, you might want to take a look at setting up one or more disk images on the Time Capsule using Disk Utility. This would allow you to reserve a certain amount of space for data and set up a password that users would need to type in before they could access the data inside the disk image.

Whether or not this is possible will depend on the type of modem that you will be using with the Time Capsule. The Guest Network feature can be enabled if you will be using a simple modem with the Time Capsule. Something like this, for example:

See the difference? One is a simple modem that only provides an Internet connection to an outboard router, like the Time Capsule. The other device is a modem/router or gateway, which is really two products.....a modem and a router.....in one package. The Guest Network feature was not really designed to work with this type of product, so it may or may not work if you try to use it with this type of device. Getting to work will involve trying to bend the rules.

Yes, this actually might the simplest way to accomplish what you want to do. Make sure that the drive is formatted correctly for Mac in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) using Disk Utility and then use AirPort Utility to set up a password to access the drive. Only give the password to those who you want to have access to the drive.

I am unable to retrieve my emails since yesterday. I called Time Warner Cable, my Internet provider, but they could not help me; they stated that the settings had changed, since they were upgrading. I adjusted the settings, but still get an error message:

          The server returned the error: The connection to the server "smtp.roadrunner.com" on port 110 timed out.
I changed the server, and the port, as Time Warner Cable tech rep recommended, but to no avail. They recommended I delete my current email account and recreate it, but that I check with Apple first, because I might lose my contact list (and any email messages I'd previously saved!?). They suggested Apple might be able to tell me how to not lose the contacts, emails, profile.
Any help would be appreciated.

For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
