My iOS6 message list scrolls automatically to top! :(

I use my iphone daily to message individuals personally one after another after another. The new iOS is annoyingly putting my message list back to the top of the list each time I send a message. This is terrible because now I not only have to scroll down to the past message I left off with, but just finding the area I left off on is more difficult and time consuming now. I have between 100 and 200 messages I send out daily... and what used to take me less than an hour, now takes nearly two hours. Is there no way to make "scrolling to top" of message list an option? Ugh!

Yes that way it won't jump to the top.
But the problem is I don't save the phone number to address book because there are really more than 100 messages of them, and if I do it that way, it become really confusing when I choose the sender, because I need to remember which number I already sent.
So instead, I just scroll down to the previous message which I have sent to them before, open the message, paste the text message, added some information in the text message, and then send it. (just normal reply message)

  • Selected Item in a list automatically scrolled to the top

    Hi All,
I am having a tough time solving this problem. Please help.
In my application I have a list keeping track of all the
games currently going on. The list keeps getting updated regularly.
What is happening is that whenever I select an item by clicking on
it, in the next update it automatically
gets scrolled to the top. This does not get removed even if I
    click anywhere on the stage.
Because of this I am not able to scroll my list properly.
Every few seconds, it goes to the top and I am not able to scroll.
Please help. Any suggestions are welcome.
    With Regards,
    Rohit Sharma

    Ok,
    try this:
every time BEFORE your page get updated
    you first save the verticalScrollPosition
    var p1:int = list.verticalScrollPosition;
then AFTER your page get updated you set the value back
    list.verticalScrollPosition = p1;

  • To Do List Automatically Scrolls to the Top when I make any date change

I'm using Palm 6.2.2 at the moment, and I'm finding that Whenever I change the date on any of my To Do List tasks in the desktop software the list automatically jumps/scrolls to the top of the list and it is driving me INSANE. I have a LOT of dated tasks and on a daily basis have to push them forward to other dates. Doing this now takes me forever as I have to rescroll down to the area of tasks I was working on, change the date on the next one then start all over again.
For what it's worth, I just upgraded from a Treo 700p w/Palm 4.something - that version of the Desktop Software did NOT do this.
Anyone else encounter this and know how to fix/avoid it?

I can confirm this function. Also I wasn't able to find anyway for it to not do this.

  • Mac Mail Messages List Not Scrolling Down to Reveal New Emails

No, this is not a really huge deal but it's just annoying enough to warrant a question here - and it hasn't always operated this way so something must be going on.
My inbox is telling me I've received mail properly, and the messages are definitely there...but they remain hidden above the last message I read until I scroll up.
When I look at my message list, the last message I read is sitting at the top.
In order to view the new messages I have to scroll up manually to view them.
I haven't changed any settings or preferences so no help there, unfortunately.
    Thank you for any help!

I'd suggest creating a new test user account from the system preferences. Log in, open Mail, enter your .Mac settings and see how it goes.
Alternatively, you can try to reset Mail.app by renaming (for backup purposes) the following files: (This will affect your other mailboxes as well!)
    Preferences: your_name/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
    & Mail folder: your_name/Library/Mail/
Assuming a new Mail setup actually works, post back in case you need help on importing your old POP3 messages.
If not, I've no idea what to do... Your firewall should not affect .Mac behavior. (I got to admit, I don't particularly like Mail.app's buggy IMAP implementation.)
    Good luck!

  • Mail: I can no longer scroll a message. The list scrolls but not the message. What happened?

Suddenly yesterday I was no longer able to scroll in a message in the Mailbox window. When I scroll, the email list scrolls even when the curser is over the message.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks.

btw, it's on my MacBook Pro 2012 with Mavericks. I have made no software/system changes since early last week.

  • Message listing rolls to top after delete

I use Outlook 2013 on both a Win7 and Win8.1 machine.  On both platforms, with widely divergent hardware, I've noticed the following:
If the outlook message list is ordered anyway other than with the newest message on top, if you select multiple messages (shift-click or cntl-click), and then call for them to be deleted with the big X icon in the home/delete group in the ribbon, they are
deleted,  but, as the view is repainted, the display floats to the top of the list, it doesn't stay where it was before the deletion.  This is both annoying and different than the results in prior versions of Outlook
This doesn't happen if the sort order is newest on top, even if down in the list.

    Hi,
I didn't reproduce this problem on my Outlook 2013 & Windows 8.1, let's first troubleshoot by starting Outlook with the switch "/cleanviews":
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /cleanviews” in the blank box, then press Enter.
This switch will restore default views. All custom views you created will be lost. I suggest you do this since a corrupted view may cause this issue, check out the result.
We can also start Outlook in Safe Mode to determine whether it's 3rd-party add-ins related:
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
If there’s no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.
    Hope it helps.

  • How to stop preview window from automatically getting focus when you move up/down the message list.

Since updating (my TB was a few versions old) to 31.2, the preview window automatically gets focus when I move up/down the message list. I'm assuming this is a new "feature". Is there a way to shut this off and leave the focus on the message list so I can navigate up/down like before?

You are referring to the 'Message Pane' which displays selected opened emails below the list of emails. It is not a 'preview'.
When you select an email by either using mouse to click on an email in the list or using the arrow keys to select emails up and down the list, you are selecting an email to open and read. That is why it is being opened in the Message Pane so that you can read it.
If you select an email in the list and then cllck anywhere else including in the Message Pane, then you will have moved focus away from the list and the strong highlight on email in list is reduced to paler highlight.
When you click on an email in the list, the email becomes highlighted, at this point you can use eg: arrow keys to move up and down the list.
If you are performing single left click on email in list and then do nothing else and the strong highlight auto changes to paler highlight.
Check you do not have a conflict with an addon by starting Thunderbird in Safe Mode.
Help > select 'Restart with addons disabled'

  • Mail keyboard shortcuts scroll down message list

Anyone know any good keyboard shortcuts for navigating the message list in Mac Mail?

Use a TAB button to jump between different sections in Mail app. When messages list is highlighted, use UP and DOWN ARROWS to go up and down. If you want to go quickly to the bottom of your list, use FN+RIGHT ARROW, if you want to go quickly to the top of the list use FN+LEFT ARROW.

  • Mail 5.0 shows to:.... instead of sender:.... in message list

    Hi,
In the new Mai program of lion in the message list I see my own adress (where people send the mail to).
Ofcourse that's not what I want to know!
I want to see the senders names in the list!
So I can search more easily for mails from certain people.
In the preview window the sender and recepient are both shown but that is too much work to scroll though all mails to see the sender there ...
In classic view it is possible to show senders first
But in the new layout I can't find how to get the list to show where the mails came from ...
does anyone have a clue how to correct this?
    thanks
    Rob

    It solved itself...
After restarting the items came back in proper place.... ppffew..

  • In finder (list view) rescrolling to top when dropdowns folder contents. Bug?

I'm opening some folder in finder. Finder view is set to list view. List must be bigger than the view height. I'm scrolling down, then i click right arrow near some folder to dropdowns its contents. Its contents appear correctly but my list scrolls to top automaticaly after i clicked right arrow near folder.
Is this a bug? What can you say about this?

I'm frustrated with this same problem. In my case this happens only in my 10.5 macbook air and not in my 10.4 macbook pro. I've been renaming files in the same way in 10.2/10.3 and this never happened. Should be a bug. I've been searching for this issue and found this post at last - I really wonder why there aren't so many people mentioning this.

  • I can't get back to my message list.

I am new to Thunderbird. I was going through my message list. I would look at a message and delete it and would be returned to the message listing. Suddenly it won't take me back to the listing of my emails and I can't find a way to get back.

It is a little hard to tell you how to get somewhere when you do not say what you are seeing now.
I will take a guess. Do you have the Folder Pane showing on the left side of the screen? If not go to the menu bar and select View-Layout-Folder Pane.
No menu bar showing? Press the alt key to make it appear.
Do you have so many messages open that all you have are message tabs across the top of the window? Right click one of the tabs and select Close Other Tabs. Then get in the habit of closing message tabs after reading the messages.

  • Cannot return to message list while in a message without clicking on "compose new message icon" and then cancelling it.

After updating to 8.1 from 8 i cannot return to my message list from inside a message without clicking on the "compose new message" icon and then canceling out of that.
Also, where it used to say return, it now says "Edit" and the word "Message" on the top of the screens is scruched together.
Here is a link to a screenshot of my phone from the main messages listing.
And here is a link to a screen shot of my phone from within a message.

  • Firefox3.6.8 and earlier, scrolls automatically at some sites. unable to stop it immediately. how do i correct this?

Bismillaah. Peace. Earlier versions of firefox to the present version 3.6.8 have a tendency to automatically scroll from the top of the page to the bottom, and then up to the top again, repeatedly. Hitting the up or down arrow repeatedly will sometimes halt the direction of the scroll but it is not reliable.
How is this problem corrected? Abdul

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).<br />
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]<br />
    <br />
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.<br />
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.<br />
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")<br />
