My iPad 1 has persistent app crashes. Suggestions?

Apps crash at random. Native apps or purchased ones. Have gone thru all the recommended fixes: reboot, reset and finally wipe clean and start over. Problem persists. Any suggestions?

I realize you have already restored once, but try restoring as a new device one more time.
How to set up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch as a new device
Then sync 5 apps at a time to test.

  • My ipad has a safari crash

my ipad has a safari crash report from a third party how do i repair this?

Close Safari, double tap on home button then swipe up.  Go into Settings->Safari->Clear History & Website Data.  That will clear your cache.
Now try opening Safari again to see if your problem is fixed.  Was the 'crash report' a pop-up window on a webpage?  Ignore it, it's not generated by your iPad.
They do NOT work for Apple.

  • After installing 8.2 on my iPad all the apps crash during use. It appears that the iPad saves a version of what I was using because after the app crashes I double press the home button an there is a screen of an older version of the page I was using.

After installing 8.2 on my iPad (2nd gen) all the apps crash during use. It appears that the iPad saves a version of what I was using because after the app crashes I double press the home button an there is a screen of an older version of the page I was using. I swipe it away and start over, only to have the same thing happen again. I have reinstalled all the apps, rebooted, synced and re-synced with iTunes. This is VERY irritating!

That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it...

  • IPad 1 ipod app crashes everytime opened on 4.3

I've had a huge problem with lag and my ipod app crashing on my iPad 1 ever since i upgraded to 4.3 HELP!! All my apps are up to date...i've tried power cycling it. Its just a regular old original iPad 1 16gb wifi model.

    Try a System Reset:
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.
A System Reset does not remove any apps, music, movies, etc. nor does it cause any settings to revert back to default.
Also, you might wish to download the iPad-2 User Guide. Pay special attention to page 162. Note that this Guide also applies to the iPad-1 with IOS 4.3 except for those functions that are not supported by the hardware.
    http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipad
Finally, the User Guide can be downloaded at no charge via iBooks and a less comprehensive version of the Guide is included as a Safari bookmark.

  • Resolving persistent app crashes

    Good day.
A few months ago, I upgraded from an iPad 3 to an iPad Air.  I used the iCloud Backup to restore my apps and files.  During the restore, a few apps (games) froze during the reinstall. I ultimately had to kill the restore, then reinstall them fresh.
Since then, most of these apps (the ones I had to manually reinstall) always crash immediately upon running (at their respective load screens). I've researched crashes extensively on the web (I'm a pc guy, not ios, so I had to read up).  To date, I have done all of the following in various orders:
    Close all running apps.
Delete and reinstall the apps many times.
Go into the iCloud settings and deleted the backed up data on these apps, then reinstalled.
Nothing has worked. Not understanding the iPad (iOS) architecture, I can only guess that even with all these steps, SOMETHING stays on the iPad related to all these apps that prevents it from running them.
I know the FINAL step would be to wipe the iPad and start over, but I've been hoping not to have to take that drastic a step.
Any suggestions on anything else I haven't tried?
    Thanks.

At this point it might be best to use iTunes on your computer to restore your iPad to Factory.
After doing this, setup your iPad again and reinstall your purchased Apps.
    Basically, starting over again.

  • Mini iPad has any app or accessories for drawing on pad as Wacom's drawing pad?

I need to learn how to draw directly on the pad, own a Mac, consider buying a mini iPad. Please any suggestion?

Flash has never worked on an iOS device. You should not be getting that message if you are using the YouTube app on the iPad and you shouldn't get in in Safari either.
Try clearing Safari, close ALL apps on your iPad, reset the device then try again.
    Settings>Safari>Clear cookies and Data.
To close an app, drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Both my iPad and iPhone apps crash, they close up without a reason. I've now reset both devises several times but it still happens. What is the issue? Is it my devices?please help it is annoying me now! Thank you

I have an issue with my iPad and iPhone. They apps keep on crashing, even the standard apps like mail and safari, notes etc. I have reset the divices and have the latest software, what am I doing wrong? Why would this happen? It is annoying and I want to fix it as I am in the middle of stuff and apps just close! Help.

I'm guessing it's an app that is on both devices.  Delete all common apps, reset and see how they run.
Also try clearing your recently used list...
    - From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
    - Tap and hold any icon until they wiggle
    - Continually press the red to delete the apps from this list.
    - Press the home button twice when done
With a quick finger, you can clear this list very quickly.

  • Ibooks on ipad with iOS5: app crashes when clicking on a book. What to do?

Whenever I try to use the ibooks app on my ipad 1 with OS 5, it crashes. That defeats the purpose. Is there a way to fix this problem?

Hey mikejoy, I also got the dotted circle and googled somemore and found out that my ring tone was too long. The time length for custom iphone 5 ringtones can be no longer than 30 seconds which *****. There are programs that will extend the length like iskysoft.com which I may try. good luck!

  • I just restored my first generation iPad, now all apps crash when I try to open them

I have an original iPad that was not able to sync with my itunes for some reason after Apple released its recent iTunes update.  I did a full restore of my ipad to see if the problem would be resolved.  Now I have bigger problems.  None of the apps that I have tried to install can run.  I select an app, and it crashes and returns to the home screen.  I tried restoring several more times, including one time that I did a restore from the backup of my iPad made immediately before I did the first restore earlier today.  The OS version is 5.1.5, which is the newest version that Apple seems to allow to install in the original iPad.  Can anyone help?  This iPad is useless unless I can figure this out.

I don't see how you could install incompatible apps because you cannot apps that are not compatible. You restored already and sometimes just rebooting the iPad helps with what you were experiencing. I don't if it will do any good now, but you might as well give it a try.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If you downloaded the latest version of iTunes, perhaps the download or installation of the software was corrupt. You could try deleting iTunes and reinstall it. What OS are you - Windows or Mac OS X?
I don't think that this will work, but try it anyway... Try downloading another app - any free app will be fine.

  • IPad (1st Gen) App crashes - Benefits of restoring?

I have an original iPad 32Gb.  I am now experiencing apps occasionally crashing including Apple's own Safari.  This can happen even if it is the only App running.  It is more of an annoyance than anything, but I was wondering if there would be any benefits of me restoring the iPad or just a waste of time?
My gut feeling is iOS and Apps have grown to take advantage of iPad 2 and the new iPad and my original A4 chip is struggling in the process?

i think restoring your ipad should solve your problem! even i have an ipad 1! and it works absolutely fine ! the only app i have seen crashing is infinity blade( that to works in 2-3 times)!
also u can try hard rebooting your ipad!
and ur worry aboout apps being for ipad 2 and new! there are separate apps for them which you will be told while downloading that are incompatible with your ipad!
so i think restoring shoudl do the trick! first try hard reboot! i.e ipad power off!

  • IPad 2 all apps crashing - LowMemory.Plist

    Hello,
I have had since launch, an iPad 2 and I've always been very happy with it. I have never suffered any issues with it and have not bothered to jailbreak or mess with it in any way.
However, today, the iPad began to operate strangely. Every single application / game I opened would after several seconds crash out back to the desktop, with Safari being the most serious culprit, bombing out repeatedly even after being reopened seconds later.
When the Systems Settings window and Mail apps started doing the same I worried that something was going seriously wrong. I closed all and any running apps and deleted off any unused or unrequired data (videos / documents backed up to iCloud) and then performed a reset on the iPad.
However, there was no change, an app would be fine for a few seconds and crash back to desktop.
Knowing I had backed up all my data I performed a full restore and reinstall of iOS 5.1.1 (which I had recently updated on to the iPad the other day)
The iPad was fine for about 5 minutes but then went back to normal. Every app lasting a random amount of time before crashing back to the desktop.
In desperation I enabled the diagnostics and usage setting and carried on using the iPad. Within 15 minutes I had 8 plist files in the Diagnostics & Usage window and all were titled LowMemory- with a numeric code which I deciphered as a time and date in reverse.
It would seem that my iPad runs out of memory even when only a single app is running, regardless of the app.
I have tried all of my apps now from Plants vs Zombies to Pages, from System Settings to SketchPad and they all last between a minute to five minutes and then crash out. As of this moment my iPad is worse than useless.
I have booked in an appointment with The "Genius" bar on Thursday, but frankly if there is any way to resolve this issue before then I would really appreciate it, given that I use the iPad as much as my desktop computer.
    Thanks in advance

I updated both my Iphone 6 and my Ipad 3 to 8.2. Now both intermittently goes black screen with white apple. Essentially rebooting throughout the day.
I also have a 5S, and not having the same issue.
    Is this is "known" issue?

  • Ipad Pinyin Bug- apps crash and abort using certain characters

I seem to have a serious problem using the Chinese Simplified Pinyin on the Ipad 2. Typing certain characters causes whatever app I am typing in to close on me, bringing me home. Because of this, writing emails and notes is nearly impossible. It works on every app, so I can't write my emails in a notepad and then copy it onto Mail. My "blacklist" of common characters that trigger this problem include at least 10 common characters now. This is unacceptable- it is almost impossible to write Chinese on this thing. I have tried everything (restarting, etc.) except a complete restore to manufacturing settings.
Is anyone else having a similar problem? Are there any fixes available?

There is really nothing you can do to fix things beyond a reset of your device.  Report it to Apple and make sure you always tell people what iOS version you are using, since it is a software issue and they need to know what software is involved.
