My iPad 1 won't wirelessly sync

I have done a search and found some things to try, but to no avail. I have the checkbox checked in iTunes, I checked my router for various things mentioned, I un-installed itunes and reinstalled, I just can't figure this out. My button on my ipad is still greyed out and it says something about sync will resume when '.....''s computer is found or something like that. Both on the same network, so not sure whatbis going on. Any help? Oh yeah, I am running Windows XP Pro Service pack 2.

Try syncing one more time with your iPad connected to the PC with the cable - the traditional way. Sync that way first, then when the process completes, make sure that the radio button is still checked in the summary tab for WiFi wireless sync, then eject the iPad.
Plug the iPad into a power source and see if the button is black. Once you do get this set up - you do NOT have to plug into a power source to sync. If you do plug in - it syncs automatically. You can still initiate the sync on your own by tapping on the sync button in the settings.
iTunes must always be running in order for you to sync wirelessly - just like when you connected to the computer.

My iPad camera photos will wirelessly sync with my iMac and iCLoud photo stream, but the videos do not, is USB connection the only way to transfer videos or is there also a wireless method?

Videos are not included with the Photo Stream. Photo Stream is for photos only.
There is not a wireless method for importing videos from the iPad's Camera Roll.

  • My iPad 2 won't complete syncing

My iPad 2 won't complete syncing. It gets to step 5 (waiting for items to copy) and won't get past that step. I have tried deleting iTunes and reloading? Any other suggestions?

I am a Mac users and I assume that you are a Windows user. I know next to nothing about Windows - maybe even less than next to nothing, if that's possible.
These may be of some help.
Turn Windows Firewall on or off - Microsoft Windows Help
Disable antivirus software - Windows - Microsoft
These are simply temporary steps that you want to take and you want to be sure to turn the firewall and the anti virus software on again after you try this. Furthermore this may not work at all, it's just a troubleshooting step to see if iTunes is able to communicate now with the Apple servers to download the safe browsing data and complete the sync.

  • IPhone 4S won't wirelessly sync

I have an iPhone 4S that refuses to sync when disconnected from the computer. I have a Mac Book Pro, with iTunes 10.7 (21) and iOS 6 installed on the phone.  I have the two options in iTunes checked, Open iTunes when this phone is connected and Sync with this iPhone over Wifi.  I also have the option on wireless sync enabled on the iPhone.  When I connect the iPhone to the computer things look as they should.  I can choose "Sync Now" on the phone and the sync process works as advertised.  As soon as I eject the iphone via iTunes the "Sync Now" option on the iPhone greys out.  Following the instructions to wireless sync, I connect the iPhone to a power source and Wifi, but the "Sync Now" option on the iPhone stays greyed out. It tells me it's waiting for my laptop computer to become available.  The laptop is available and I've tried with and without iTunes running. What am I missing?

All right, my problem was voice memos.  I had been deleting them from my iPhone and on iTunes but not in the Voice Memos playlist which was automatically defined.  The sync went on forever as it tried to sync the 70+ voice memos on the list.  I tried turning off voice memo sync AND deleting the playlist on iTunes.  The playlist yet remained on the iPhone and it kept trying to sync it.  Finally, I had to restore.  Now it is gone and the sync concludes.   I don't think I will try to sync voice memos again.
Interestingly, it still doesn't say "OK to remove".  That may have just gone away with the advent of wireless sync.

  • Brand new ipad- it won't auto sync with my PC

I expected to pull out my brand new iPad and plug it into my laptop (windows) and it would be a simple automatic process to make them communicate. The iPad comes with this tiny card that makes it sound completely easy and automatic. That did not happen. I've re-booted my laptop and re-plugged in iPad. I've downloaded newest itunes. Nothing happens in my itunes to detect the iPad like it does when I plug in my ipod. The only thing on the iPad screen is a graphic of the USB cord pointing to and iTunes icon. then it goes black again.
Help! I'm very disappointed that I'm wasting so much time searching for help on something I've spent so much money to invest in, hoping it would simplify my life. So far, not so good.

Do you have any other iOS devices like an Iphone of ipod touch that connect to the computer?  Also make sure your computer meets the minimum requirements, and make sure you're connecting to a 2.0 usb port directly on the computer, not on a hub.

  • Maverick won't permit syncing Address Book or Calendar by USB to iPhone or iPad and permits only syncing by iCloud, which I don't want to use.  Any ideas on how to sync without using iCloud?

Maverick won't permit syncing Address Book or Calendar by USB cable from my MacBook Air to my iPhone and iPad and permits  syncing only by iCloud.  Mountain Lion permitted this via the Info tab on iTunes.  I don't want to use iCloud.  Any ideas with Maverick on how to sync Address Book and Calendar from computer to iPhone and iPad without using iCloud?

ymcneil - thanks for the work around. But isn't it amazing Apple forces us to do this to maintain our privacy.
I live in Australia where there are good privacy laws protecting  citizens. I do not want to be forced to use iCloud when the data sits in  the USA with weaker privacy laws and also able to be seen by the US  Government under the Patriot Act. Further I suspect Apple will  interrogate my contacts and calendar for commercial purposes and I do  not want that either.
I  chose to synch my calendar and contacts with my iphone and ipad. I have  relied for years on carrying around my phone with my diary on it. I can  no longer do that.
Whoever  made this decision at Apple has to be someone who knows little about  the world. I can actually see EU regulators getting very annoyed by  this.
I too woud like the itunes mac to iphone/ipad local backup given back.
In the meantime - thanks for the work around

  • New iPod touch and iPad 2 stopped wireless sync

There was a time when I could wirelessly sync my iPad to my Windows PC but now it will not sync and my new iPod touch version 5 will not sync either.  Currently, the only way I can sync is via USB and that isn't convenient.  It is downright irritating, in fact. It seems that Apple did some sort of update either to iOS 6 or to iTunes 10.7 that is preventing wireless from syncing.  My guess is that it is iTunes 10.7 that is causing the problem since both devices are having the issue. Additionally, it doesn't seem to show the devices as being accessible for sync.  Before when one of the devices was available it would show in iTunes. It doesn't ever seem to show either of the devices in iTunes now.
Is there anyone out there with a solution?  Waiting for Apple to pull their heads out and update iTunes isn't the sort of solution I'm looking for.
    I have:
    iPad iOS 6.0.1
    iPod touch iOS 6.0.1
    iTunes 10.7.0.21
    Thank you in advance!

    Additional information:
I managed to get both the iPad and the iTouch to sync once and once only by going to Music -> ... More > Shared and then add the library that is shared over the network from the PC that I wanted to sync.  This proves it isn't a network issue or a Windows issue.

  • IPad wireless sync not working

My iPad stopped wireless syncing. For some reason when I goto Settings/General/iTunes WiFi Sync the computer name for syncing is wrong.  My computer is named "xxxx" and my iPad seems to be trying to connect to "xxxx (2)". I have no computer/user on the macbook named that. When physically connected i can sync, but the ipad and macbook dont see each other otherwise. Is there a way to change the sought computer name on the ipad. This seems to be the way to make it work.

Well thanks all for your suggestions. I have now got it to work but after I restored iPad 2 back to previous version then reinstall ios5 onto iPad 2. Now it seems to be working fine and touch wood it will continue to be good for me lol.
    Thanks again all.

    Hello Thisbemadi,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Please ensure you are charging your iPad with the Apple cable and power adapter that came with the device.  If the issue persists, reset your iPad to its factory settings and try charging again.

  • New iPad 2 won't sync iPhotos without deleting existing photos

I just got the iPad 2 and want to sync my photos from my Mac. It won't sync all of them at once (pop up window says it can't sync) so I tried a few albums at a time, which works but deletes the previous photos with new ones. It shouldn't be this hard, right? Help please!

To add a new album without erasing other existing ones, just leave the current ones checked in iTunes before syncing. You can add photos from one (or more) iPhoto or Aperture events/albums at a time, but DON'T unselect the events you want to keep in iTunes or any unselected album will be deleted.
There shouldn't be a restriction on the number of photos to be synced at a time.  I have loaded 17,000 photos with iTunes from my iPhoto database on my iPad and 24,000 photos from my Aperture database (via iTunes) onto my iPad 2 without a problem.

  • Ipad is not wireless syncing

I have had the ipad 2 plugged into computer and check the "wireless sync" i hace ios on devices, What else do I do? When I now unplug Ipad device disappears from list

    This may help.
iTunes must be running. This works for any iDevice. You will be able to initiate a sync on your own after you set this up. Autosync occurs when the device is plugged into a power source, You do not have to be plugged in to start the sync on your own.
    iTunes Wi-Fi Sync
To activate iTunes syncing over Wi-Fi, plug your device into your computer and open up iTunes.
Under the Summary tab, scroll down to the Options, then ensure Wi-Fi syncing is enabled. Your device should now sync automatically over Wi-Fi when plugged into a power source, but you can initiate a Wi-Fi sync manually using the steps below.
On your iOS device, go to the Settings app and then tap on the ‘General’ tab.
Select ‘iTunes Wi-Fi Sync’ and then select ‘Sync Now’.
