My ipad 1st generation has a bunch of lines on the screen.

I have tried the hard reset and it didn't work.  I want to repair it myself.  I have changed out a screen on an ipod touch before but I need to know what parts I need to order.  Can anybody tell me?

Work down the the following until it is cured:  Restart / reset / restore / restore as new / take it to Apple.
Reset fixes 90% of problems.  You don't get into risking your data un less you get to the restore as new try. But you sound like a sensible person who would regularly back up....

  • MacBook has a bunch of lines on the left side of the screen.

Hello all, how are you doing?
Anyways to away from all the bullcrap, my MacBook is having issues with its screen and I really don't know what to do. I didn't use it for a few days when SimCity came in, and when I finally decided to use it, it had a bunch of lines in the screen that are quite annoying. For the most part I ignored the problem because at one point all I had to do was open and close it and the lines would go away, but now there not going away and as of yesterday my entire screen has been having problems. Like a few minutes ago the entire screen was going white so I closed it and it went away, but I just want to fix this now before my screen is completely broken. One thing that I did find out with my natural curosity or experminting to fix things was that if I bent the edge of the screen on the left side, the lines go away so hopefully that's telling somehow.
Any help will be appreciated and I'll post two pictures below.

The screen or the graphic card are damaged. In your case, you have to take your MacBook to an Apple Store or reseller to have the computer repaired, because it's not a software-related issue

  • My new iPhone 5 has black and white lines on the screen. It's not been damaged. I've tried turning it off but this does not solve the problem? Please help.

My new iPhone 5 has black and white lines on the screen. It's not been damaged. I've tried turning it off but this does not solve the problem? Please help. I can't find my answer on the Internet.

By far the most common problem hardware-wise seems to be scuffs on the aluminium. Yours is the first report of a faulty screen I've seen.
If you use the same Apple ID on both devices it'll sync whatever you want it to - music/apps/photos/messages/etc.
I've just switched from a Galaxy S3 to iPhone 5 (having already owned an iPad for a while) so I'm in a similar position!

  • My iMac has extremely small gray lines on the screen?

My iMac has extremely small gray lines under the screen? There are 3 of them and they are right next to each other, have any of you guys experienced this? What did Apple do about it? BTW my computer is 4 months out of warranty, because i did not get the extended Apple Care, will they still fix my computer? Im really worried, but its not that noticeable, unless you already know its there.

They won't fix your computer because it's out of warranty, perhaps an AppleCare lesson learned here. Of course you can try which doesn't hurt. The longer  you wait though and the less chance they will help. Can you attach a picture so we can see what they look like?

  • My ipad 1st gen has loads of coloured lines going across the screen so I can't see any ideas ?

My ipad first gen has loads of coloured lines going across the screen so I can't see any ideas ??

Try a reset: Press and hold both Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the Apple logo appears.
If that didn't fix things, do a restore:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If that still didn't fix the issue, then there is probably a hardware problem.

  • My ipod touch 4 has frozen with multicoloured lines on the screen, what does that mean?

my ipod touch has frozen with multicoloured horizontal lines on the screen, what does this mean??

    - Try here:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and yu can't furrly turn the iPod off, let the battery fuly drain. After charging for at least an hour try again
    - If not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iPad 1st gen has a large grey stripe in the middle of the screen. Any help would be appreciated

It was not dropped and has no other damage and works fine EXCEPT i cannot view the middle part of the screen.
From other posts and searching the web this seems to be a "KNOWN" 1st Gen issue and I am ot the only one.
Anyone had any luck with getting this solved ??
My solution was I just bought a new iPad 4th Gen because I did not want to be without my favorite device but am discouraged by the fact Apple is NOT commenting on this issue or offering a fix
I am hoping that this 4th Gen did not come with a 2 year expiration date - for almost $800 bucks it should last until I decide - not until it is completely disabled by a manufacturer defect as in what happened with my 1st Gen
I still expect my 1st Gen to work and need any suggestions in dealing with the issue as (OF COURSE) the device is no longer under warranty

    $100 you can buy a replacement screen => http://www.ifixit.com/iPad-Parts/iPad-Wi-Fi-Front-Panel-Assembly/IF180-000?utm_s ource=ifixit_guide&utm_medium=guide_intro&utm_content=required_items&utm_term=ip ad_wi-fi
Then use the guide to swap out the screen => http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing+iPad+Wi-Fi+Front+Panel+Assembly/4174/1
I had a similar issue last year when I bought my new Samsung HDTV. There was a strip of discoloration going down the middle of the screen about 3 inches wide. Samsung replaced the screen as there was nothing that could be done to fix it.
I imagine this means the crystals in the screen are somehow damaged. It may not be your fault, they could have just gone bad from bad manufacturing or whatever. There is software for desktop computers that runs through series of tests for attempting to correct issues with an LCD screen, but it would be difficult to run this software on an iPad screen. I doubt there is an app that does anything similar, but you can check the app store or the Cydia market if jailbroken.
    Good luck

  • My iPad has a big colors line on the screen!!! Please help me!!!

My iPad has that line crusing in the middle of the screen, can i do something?

If the reset mentioned previously does not work have a technician examine your iPad. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.

  • My iPad2 screen has 3 blocks of lines across the screen

    Hi,
Has anyone else encountered this? The blocks of lines appear to be aligned with the spaces between the smart cover and go vertically across my screen. I am using a ZAGG invisishield cover and have wiped it clean. It's most visible when the screen is white.

    Simon-
My first thought is that the invisishield cover has reacted to the pressure of your smart cover.  In other words, the lines may not be in the iPad, but between the invisishield and the iPad.
I'm not familiar with the invisishield.  If it can be removed without ruining it, you might see if that makes the lines go away.
If the lines are actually in the iPad, it may be a defect.  If convenient, show it to an Apple Store Genius.  If not, look for an Apple Authorized Repair Center near you.

  • My MacPro 10.6.8 has a thin green line on the screen.

My MacPro is just over a year old now and I have a thin green line on the screen. I hooked it up to my TV and on the second window (the TV) the green line wasn't there. Whats the issue? How do I fix it?

From what you are saying, sounds like a line of pixels out on the display.
Did the TV use the same connector on the computer? If not, swap the display with the TV. If you still have the line, it is one of the items that you swapped across.
Have you tried connecting the display to another computer? If so, is the line still there?
What kind of display is it? Can you swap the data cable and try a different cable, could be a cable issue.
Any adapters in use? If so, try swapping those to rule them out as a problem.

i got my ipod a day ago. i havent dropped it or anything and when i play a video there is a thin, blue, vertical line on my screen. is it broken or what!?

It could be a problem with the way the videos were encoded. Where did you get them from or did you encode them yourself.
If you encoded them yourself, what program did you use?

I have an iPad 1st generation that no longer has working volume buttons but every once in a while the sound turns on.  So I know the speakers still work.  I have tried resetting all settings and made sure that my side switch was auto lock not auto mute. I have tried the mystical swiping upward on the screen with 4 fingers to get some special sound menu (which I never succeeded in getting).  My headphone jack doesn't work all the time either so some times my kids can hear their games and sometimes they can't.  I am super frustrated at this point.  So any suggestions would be great.  Am I missing something basic or do we just have a soundless iPad now?
