My iPad 2 3G/WIFI won't turn on.

Hello all,
I have a problem with my iPad 2. It wont turn on.
The problem happen when I was in iTunes and wanted to update to the newest firmware. iTunes just gave me 2006 unknown error, after a while when installing the new firmware. It didnt finnish the installation.
I have tried to plug in and out the USB cable from my iMac 27 (mid 2010 version) Ive tried different cables, sure not for iPad 2, but for iPhone 4. (seems to work the same way?) I have even made another account on this iMac to try and connect it from there, but its just giving me the same error.
I have tried holding in power+home bottons for 10 secs to reset the iPad. Dont work.  Its just black.
In itunes it shows up on the side , it says "iPad", and then I'm prompted with a window that its in recovery mode and needs to be restored.
So I have tried installing TinyUmbrella, that I read on google, could kick the iPad out of recovery mode. But it wont work.
I have the latest Mac OSX Lion installed on my iMac.
Please anyone, what should I do, this is so frustrating and sad.........

Oh Just to avoid confusion, I did at first use the USB-cable that I got with the iPad 2.
And when that didnt work, I tried two different USB-cables for iPhone 4 too. But it was the same error in iTunes.
I just thought if it was something wrong with the cable for the iPad 2, maybe some other cable would work better.
But I donno, it should work, because its only a few weeks old.

  • Hello... can anyone help, my late 2010 MBA's - OS X Lion 10.7.5 wifi won't turn on after a deep sleep

can anyone help, my late 2010 MBA's - OS X Lion 10.7.5 wifi won't turn on after a deep sleep.. thanks..!

    Hi John,
Thanks for the additional information.  What I would try next is resetting System Management Controller:
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

If this still doesn't help, it would be time to take it in to be looked at.  You can setup an appointment at a Genius Bar by clicking on the following link:

My IPhone 4S wifi won't turn on. Wifi button is gray. I have tried restart and very briefly the wifi will work. Any ideas??

My 4s also grayed out the wifi setting a couple of weeks ago.  I called technical support and the guy _insisted_that there is no known problem with phones with respect to IOS 6.  He told me to reset the phone and restore and that would probably solve all my problems.  Really, there is nothing wrong with the phone, he told me.  I had tried just about everything else I had found on-line.  The complete erase and restore did not work.
Then I went to the Genius Bar and they tried a few things (more resets) and they concluded wifi is not functioning but since it is out of warranty, they want $199 to replace it.   $199 is not the cost of a new phone so obviously there is some concession here but not a complete acceptance of responsiblity. The Genius Bar told me that - in fact - that there is a known firmware problem with the phones and IOS6 that crops up randomly.  Not with a lot of phones, just the unlucky few.  If it is out of warranty, you have to pay.  Fortunately, I had an extended warranty with my credit card so I can get reimbursed.
My next purchase is going to be an android tablet. I'm going to wean myself away from the Apple orchard.  I want to expand my options for my next phone purchase.

  • TS1398 My WiFi won't turn on...on my iphone4s. What should I do?

My WiFi won't turn on....on my Iphone4s. What should I do?

Common problem with iPhone 4s.  You upgrade to IOS7 recently?  It killed my WiFi and bluetooth...  not happy on this end.
Apple thinks this was acceptable to have older devices be affected by the fall out...
I was able to get it back for a day by toggling airplane on and off, resetting network settings several times.  You MUST let the phone first remain off for a bit before trying this, seems its a heating issue as well.. but dont let them fool you into thinking its software.  It is NOT.

Turn your phone off and connect your cable to the computer, but not the device just yet. Start up iTunes. Now, hold down the home button on your phone and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a phone in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings.

  • VGA adapter crashed my ipad now it won't turn back on again

I connected my iPad to my Panasonic plasma TV's PC port using the VGA adapter. I was watching a youtube video. I left the room and when I returned a few minutes later after the video had finished and the TV was blank (no problem there as the video had finished), but my iPad had switched itself off and now won't turn back on again. It's completely unresponsive. There was about 35% battery left.
Can anyone help?! I've used the adapter with this TV many times before with no problems whatsoever... weird.

try holding both buttons until the apple logo appears and then let them go and wait for phone to restart

My iPhone 4S wifi and bluetooth won't turn on.  Any fix for this?  I tried remote wipe and then restore from the PC but the issue is still there.  I've also tried to reset all settings and reset network settings but the issue is still there.

  • HT201210 The apple logo is flashing on my iPad but it won't turn on since upgrading to i OS6.  Any advice?

I upgraded my iPad as directed, connected to iTunes and now my iPad won't turn on.  I've tried the reset option, but still nothing.  Any suggestions?

    Recovery Mode:
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
    3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
    5. Release the Home button
    6. Open iTune
    7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
    8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

  • Wifi won't turn off during stand by

    Hello,
although I said so in in Wifi setup ("always turn off wifi during stand by"), wifi will not go off in standby. All account sync is disabled, all stamina options are disabled. Also, there should be no apps downloading or connecting to the internet.
    Can someone help?
    Thx a lot

Yes and no, if you sync multiple accounts and you had them set up to sync every few minutes, then your phone wont be idle

    Can anybody help me

    Hey Birdie1001,
    I see that you came from the following link;
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
If you haven't already, I would troubleshoot the issue following the steps within that article.
If that doesn't apply, and when you say it won't turn on you are seeing that the button itself appears grayed out or dim, try the steps in here:

ok.. somethins really messed up.. it's a 2012 model but when after i've tried installing a new SSD card, it won't let me turn wifi on (boot from external Hard drive) also, SSD isn't showing up...

It sounds like you opened up your MacBook Air and tried to install a new solid state drive in the machine.  Is that right?  if so, you have voided your warranty, as the MacBook Air is not supposed to be opened by customers.
