My iPad 2 doesn't show up in iTunes.

I want my iPad 2 to sync with iTunes over my Wi-Fi connection, but my iPad doesn't show up in iTunes. I tried the Apple troubleshooter page, but when I try to install the Mobile Device Support driver, my Windows says the driver isn't made for my device. What should I do?
Edit: My iPad does show up in Windows Explorer as a camera.

Got it figured out already. I connected my iPad to the front side of my computer. When I connected it to the back it worked like a charm!

  • Movie purchased on iPad doesn't show up in iTunes

    Hello,
I purchased a movie from the iTunes Store using my iPad2.  I'm trying to find it in my iTunes on my PC, but it's not there.  I recently changed operating systems from Windows Vista to Windows 7, and I'm still muddling thru synching up my music and playlists (any help on that would be appreciated, too!).
My iPhone 4 can see the movie, but there isn't enough room on the phone to sync the movie to it.
I'd like to have the purchased movie on all three devices.  My iPhone and iPad2 seem to know I purchased the movie, but my iTunes doesn't.  How can I make iTunes see the movie?
    Thanks!

    Hi ChristianHelpplz,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It seems like your iPod touch is not recognized by iTunes on your Mac, but your iPhone 6 is working normally.
I recommend starting with these steps to troubleshoot your iPod touch and connection with your Mac:
    Check your USB connections
Unplug other USB devices from your Mac and try again.
    Try a different USB port.
    Try a different USB cable.
    Restart your device
Restart your iOS device or reset your iPod.
    Restart your Mac
Turn your Mac off and back on.
    Update your software
Check for software updates on your Mac.
    Check for an iTunes update.
    Check your security software
If you have security software installed, learn how to resolve issues between iTunes and your security software.
    From:

If you've tried these steps and your iPod touch is still not recognized, try placing it into Recovery Mode next:

  • HT1222 My iPad doesn't show a software update

Under General tab my iPad doesn't show software update to get the iOs 6.1.3.  How do I get this.

That option only appears with iOS 5 or later. Clearly you have an earlier version to upgrade:
See the chart below to determine whether you can upgrade your device and what you can upgrade to. If you do not have a Software Update option present on your iDevice, then you are trying to upgrade to iOS 5 or higher. You will have to connect your device to your computer and open iTunes in order to upgrade.

  • IPhone 3GS doesn't show up in iTunes

(Sorry for the length of this, but I want to make sure that I don't leave out anything that I've done.)
It all started last week when I installed Starcraft 2 on my Mac mini (the new one that came out in June 2010). Starcraft 2 crashed frequently due to the nVidia driver issues in 10.6.4, so the next day I re-installed OS X from the DVD that came with my computer to rollback to 10.6.3. Starcraft 2 worked better, but that's beside the point.
Later that day I noticed that iTunes didn't show my iPhone 3GS when it was connected (I have had zero problems with this since I got my Mac mini last month). (I'm using iTunes 9.2.1, by the way). I searched a bit, and found the instructions to Uninstall and reinstall iTunes (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224). I followed the instructions, and everything worked quite well.
At this point, I thought the problem was either due to my re-install of OS X or Starcraft 2 (I'm using a USB headset, which could somehow be related).
I was having other issues with Starcraft 2 at this point, so I decided to install Windows XP SP3 via Boot Camp. I did this, installed Starcraft 2, and played away.
When I rebooted into OS X, again I noticed that my iPhone wasn't showing up in iTunes. I started to follow the uninstall steps again, and this time I noticed that iTunesHelper wasn't running. It wasn't running because it wasn't in the list of login items to run when my account logs in. Since I was part way through uninstalling anyway, I continued with the process and then reinstalled iTunes. Once again, iTunes saw my iPhone fine. This time I also manually added iTunesHelper to my login items (I had to right click iTunes.app, Show Package Contents, navigate to iTunesHelper.app, and drag it into the list of Login items; I did check the Hide checkbox, since I recalled it being checked during the first uninstall).
It was a few days before I checked iTunes again (I rebooted a few times in here to play Starcraft 2 in Windows; note that I haven't ran Starcraft 2 in OS X since I installed Windows XP previously). However, once again my iPhone wasn't in iTunes.
Since I want to sync my iPhone today, I once again follow the uninstall iTunes process. This time, after installing it and verifying that my iPhone shows up in iTunes (again, I had to manually add iTunesHelper to my login items), I immediately rebooted and connected my iPhone. It didn't show up in iTunes (which I kind of expected at this point). I verified that iTunesHelper was indeed running.
I also tried connecting my wife's iPod touch (first generation), but it doesn't show up in iTunes either (not that I expected it to).
I've tried changing the USB port the dock connector is connected to, but that doesn't seem to matter. I did not change the port during the last reboot attempt, so I do not think that the port itself is bad. I have it connected to one of the ports on the back of the Mac mini, not to one of the ports on my keyboard. Also, my iPhone does charge when connected to this port even if iTunes doesn't recognize it.
At this point it sounds like the iTunes 9.2.1 installer doesn't do something that is required for the iPhone to be recognized by iTunes after a reboot, even though it sets things up properly right after installation. Based on the uninstall instructions, I compared the iTunes related files on my Mac with my wife's (a MacBook from early 2008, if that matters), and everything seems to be in place.
I've seen quite a few other posts here regarding issues with iPhones (and iPod touches) not showing up in iTunes, so apparently this is a common issue, but none of them seemed to help my problem.
Do you have any ideas of anything else I can try?
    Thank you very much!

I think my problem is fixed now.
For the fun of it, I reinstalled iTunes 9.2.1 today (using the exact same installer as I did yesterday), but this time I didn't uninstall iTunes first. As expected, iTunes recognized my iPhone (as I expected it to, until my next reboot).
A few minutes later, Software Update showed up and among the updates is "iPhone SDK Compatibility Update". The description indicates that installing this should fix an issue where iPhones and iPod touches aren't recognized by iTunes. Isn't that interesting?
I installed that update and most of the others waiting for me (including Java, Safari 5.0.1, and a few others - not 10.6.4 though, due to the issues with nVidia graphics cards). After the reboot, I started iTunes, and it saw my iPhone!
So, if you're having this same problem, I'd recommend tracking down this update and see if that does the trick for you. Hopefully it will.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer

  • My iTouch still doesn't show up in iTunes after the latest update...

About maybe 1-2 weeks ago? I updated my iTunes to version 10.1.1.4 since I haven't updated it in A LONG time, then by the moment I finished updating, my iTouch's icon/option doesn't show up in iTunes anymore (before it was all fine).
And an annoying message will keep showing up, with the messages:
    Title: Microsoft Windows
    "MobileDeviceService has stopped working
Windows can check online for a solution to the problem."
-> Check online for a solution (recommended) *which I clicked, and no help*
    -> Close
I have tried connecting my iTouch to my other USB port on my PC, reinstalling iTunes, system restore (tried to get back to the oldest version I used, but failed).
Out of solution, I waited for a new update to come, and it's here, version 10.1.2.17.
But everything is still the same!! (And yes, I have repeated the possible solution I have tried before for the 10.1.1.14 version)
While I asked for some helps on the internet, some people suggested me to reset my iTouch, because they think maybe something in there is broken or corrupted. But if I do reset it and the problem is still unsolved, I'll end up with an empty iTouch that can't sync anything at all...And I still need to use it everyday for internet purpose or whatnot...so I still didn't reset it yet...

Just wanted to say that you're not the only one with the problem: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=13009436
