My iPad 2 is not charging anymore...

My iPad 2 is not charging anymore when connected to my iMac by original USB cable.  Connection exactly same as before, still syncs and shows up in iTunes etc but just no longer charges.
The cable is obviously fine otherwise I wouldn't be able to see it or sync in iTunes and there's nothing wrong with the USB port as I have tested it with other devices.  It's not going to a hub but directly into my iMac so that means either the iPad is stuffed or someone has changed something in the updated OS X 10.7 or iOS 7...  Have updated to latest versions of all software but still no luck.
iPad in iTunes also shows no battery/charge info in the Summary or in the Devices in the sidebar.
Um, what the...?

After checking my adaptor, USB cable and blowing debris out of iPad connector port, I still got the same message about the unit not charging. After a couple hours of research (and no useful suggestions from the Apple reps) I came across this solution:   Go to settings on your iPad and turn the Airplane mode ON.  Then turn the iPad OFF by pressing & holding the power button. Leave unit off for about 20 seconds.  Turn the iPad back on and it should now show "charging."  Turn airplane mode OFF and proceed as normal.

  • Ipad mini is not charging anymore, what is wrong with it?

i tried plugging in my ipad mini, and it doesn't charge anymore, i tried plugging it in the wall i got nothing and also my computer. Could there be something wrong with the cord?

Most computer USB ports do not prove enough power to charge your iPad efficiently so don't bother with that.
Use the charger that came with the iPad and plug that into a known good wall outlet. If the iPad does not charge the problem lies in one of these areas:
    1. The outlet is not supplying power
    2. The cord is not plugged in correctly at one or both ends.
    3. The cord is defective. You might try a friends cord to see if that makes a difference.
    4. The charger is defective. Try borrowing one from a friend to test that.
    5. The plug on your iPad has dirt or debris in it.
    6. There is a hardware failure in your iPad.
For any of these items you cannot test yourself I suggest making an appointment at an Apple store to have your iPad, cable and charger looked at.

My iPad is not charging anymore. There is a lock sign beside the battery on the screen

How are you trying to charge it, via a computer's USB port or its wall charger ? A lot of computers don't provide enought power to their USB ports to charge an iPad at a sufficient rate.
If you are using the wall charger then have you tried a reset to see if it charges after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If it still doesn't charge then have you tried a different charger and/or cable ? Do you know anybody else with an iPad so that you can try their charger and cable and they can try yours ?

  • My ipad 3 is not charging after update to ios 6

I Just updated my ipad 3 to ios 6 and now my battery will not charge anymore?!?

Just got off the phone with Apple.  At least the wait time was short and the technician spoke clearly, but ultimately the issue is not resolved.
First thing we tried was doing a hard reboot, then reset the phone by going into settings -> general -> Reset -> Erase Content and Settings.  This was supposed to bring the phone back to IOS 5.1.1 and would confirm if it was the iOS6 or a hardware issue.  it still wouldn't charge and so we assumed it was hardware and setup an exchange.  Keep in mind this phone is less than 6 months old.
After the fact, I realized that the restore did not actually remove iOS6 and so made a second call to tech support.  After talking to a senior tech rep we discovered that once iOS6 is fully installed, there is no going back.  Especially since iTunes won't recognize the phone being connected in addition to the not charging.
I'm curious to watch this thread and see if the number of people with this problem continues to escalate.  I think 5 could still be coincidence with literally millions of people upgrading to iOS6 but if there is in fact a software issue causing it I imagine this number to increase exponentially over the next few days and weeks.

  • The iPad Mini does not charge using a laptop

My brand new iPad Mini does not charge using my macbook pro, but it does when is connected to de ac power wall adapter !!!

That is the way is is supposed to work. Your MBP does not supply enough power to charge the battery efficiently. It may be charging, but at a trickle rate and it will show as not charging. That is why a power adapter is included with the iPad. Use it.

Guys, i am actually trying using a solution provided by the article shared by dominic23,
It says "Another option is to get an ionizer to help the atmosphere in the workplace be more conductive and pull charges away from contact surfaces, including yourself."
So in my home, we have such device that could clean the air using ion, and i am using it in my room...
Result: BANG!!! The electric shock on my macbook has gone!! I don't really care about physics but somehow it works! You guys should give it a try.
    Thanks again dominic23

  • New iPad 3 will not charge from a mac. need help on that

my new ipad 3 will not charge from a mac. need help why if any one knows? thk

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • My ipad 4 is not charging I just made it iOS 7

My Ipad 4 does not charge there's a weird thing when I turned it off or my battery is dead i usually am praying for hope that it charges when it dead so I let it dead while my USB port is connected when I turned it off it charges 40% for the last 6 hours my ipad did not have this problems it only started when I was playing it while charging and charging it even it's not yet low battery not even 10% maybe like 50% I am already charging and I just made my ipad iOS 7 but when I was iOS 6 I did not have any problems like this it's started like last week I really need help what can be the possible problems
PS: because ipad 4 s cable is a little weird it can be charged front and back is my USB port working at this problems or not should I replace them

I updated my iPad Air this morning to ios 8.1 and now I also can't get the charger to work.  I have 2 Apple iPad chargers, neither will work.  They both work for my iPhones and for my older iPad.  The cables are Apple Lightning cables and work.  In addition, when I plug into my laptop, the iPad Air isn't recognized so I can't access iTunes for that machine.
Two plus hours spent online with Apple support, and still no fix.  I was instructed to back up my iPad to the cloud, but according to the message I get when trying to back up,  it'll take 2 days.  The machine will be a brick long before that.
    Cupertino, we have a problem.

  • My ipad 3 is not charging when plugged to pc

my ipad 3 is not charging when plugged to pc, and it wouldn't sync in itunes as well, it's been like this since I first got it. it does charge when it's plugged into a wall with a 10W power adapter

  • My iPad air will not charge connected to my monitor or my computer. Why?

My iPad air will not charge connected to my monitor or my computer. Why?

Short answer:  Computer USB ports don't deliver as much power as the power adapter that comes with the iPad.
    Details:
Full size iPads come with either a 10W or 12W power adapter.  The mini comes with a 5W power adapter.
See iPhone, iPad, iPod: Using iPad Power Adapters
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4327
    USB ports on computers deliver 2.5W (USB 2, 500mA x 5v) or 4.5W (USB 3, 900mA x 5v).
Newer Macs with high power ports can deliver 5.5W (1100mA x 5v).
See Apple Computers and Displays: Powering peripherals through USB
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4049
If you connect your (full size) iPad to a computer USB port, it may charge slowly, but since it's getting less than half the normal charging power, it may say "not charging".  It may charge slowly or it may not depending on use (screen brightness, processor load, etc.).  If you really want to charge it from the computer, put the iPad to sleep.
The best charging solution is to use the Power Adapter that came with the iPad.
