  • IPad 3 and iPhone 5 will not stay connected to wifi although I am close to router and have strong signal

iPad 3 and iPhone 5 will not stay connected to wifi although I am close to router and have strong signal. I have to keep joining the network or restarting devices or forgetting network and rejoining it.  As a side note my 1st gen iPhone which I upgraded to iPhone 5 yesterday always stayed connected!

The steps to try would be to:
    1. Restore the iPhone to Factory.
    2. If that does not solve the problem replace the iPhone.
If Verizon is offering to replace the iPhone for free under warranty I would go with that option.

  • IPod touch - not staying connected to WiFi

Just bought an iPod touch for my daughter. It will not stay connected to wifi. Everyday we are having to reconnect and enter our password. All our other devices are fine (MacBook, iPhones, iPads etc). Any suggestions?

Does the iPod connect OK to other networks?
    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>GeneralReset>Reset Network Settings

    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Since my latest update a few weeks ago, my ipad wont stay connected to wifi networks.  Has anyone found a solution to this? Why would the latest update have impacted this function?

I tried the suggestion, from another post, to reset the network settings and that did not work.

  • IPhone 4S not staying connected to wifi?

I have both iPad and iPhone connected to same wifi, but my iPhone 4S does not stay connected.  I have tried to reset network, restart iPhone and they do connect but disconnects shortly afterwards.  Can anyone help me?

Did you solve this problem? My new MacBook Pro 15" running 10.8.2 has exactly the problem you describe with our new Netgear N600. The other devices in our house (iMac running 10.5, a PC and an iPhone 3Gs) have no connectivity probelms at all.
I have no problem connecting with my MBP at work or elsewhere. The problem is just at home with the N600.

Couldn't find a solution  the problem only when I try to connect through a phone like (Iphone) so the best thing is just pay a plan or connect though a router
I love my BB but  I found out 3 problems
    1. The connection though a another phone
    2. If you have a plan you can't use WiFi
    3. If your plan expired you have to put another sim card than put your sim card to connect thought a Wifi
So I am not 100% happy with my BB but i'll mange

  • My IPad 2 with 5.0 will not stay connected to WIFI

Since I upgraded to 5.0 on my Ipad 2 I cannot stay connected for more than a minute or two and then it loses the signal and I have to completely shut down and power up again. This only works for a minute or so and then it tells me there is no signal. I am in Lima Peru and newer routers are not likely to be here for a year or two, if old routers are a problem. I have tried the Ipad on several routers, different hotspots and the result is the same.

Tried all of the above. My wife's Ipad works where mine does not.  Did restore to factory settings, twice, and still drops Wifi. IPad is under warranty and Apple said to send it in for warranty replacement. Problem is I am in Lima Peru so that is a little tougher to exchange.  The "store" that sells Apple here is only a shadow of a real Apple Store and are of little use or value except to buy new things in boxes at higher prices and limited inventories.
    Thanks for your suggestions however!

  • MacBooks and iPhones not staying connected to wifi.

When Yosemite came out I downloaded it to my Macbook Pro with retina and I've had no problem with it. Now when I did it to my dad's non retina Macbook Pro, he seems to be having trouble staying connected. Whenever he's online he keeps telling me he keeps getting booted off and has to go and reselect the wireless only to be kicked off again. As of lately that same problem has carried over to my iPhone and sometime it will jump back on the wifi or it will eventually prompt me to select the network again and it will reconnect. I'm not sure why this is doing this all of a sudden and wonder if their's any solutions. Also, I have another question up following the same type of question but it has to do with the wireless and I'll leave that down below. But I wonder if it's too many devices? There's my iPhone, my mom's iPhone, her iPad, my Mac, my dad's Mac, his phone, his work laptop, an Xbox One, a PS4, and possibly his cell phone. You could say we're pretty connected. Out of all those devices connected, only my mom's iPad, my phone, the Xbox and PS4, alongside my dad's Mac are the things mainly being used. The other iPhone and work laptop and cell phone aren't on the network frequently and are usually in sleep mode, if not turned off.

    Try the basics first:
Change your router channel number.  Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem.  unplug it for about 10 seconds.  Plug it back in.  Do the same for Apple’s routers.  Wait for everything to reboot.
    System Preferences>Network
    Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.

  • IMac and Mac Book Pro will not stay connected to WiFi on TC

    Hi,
I'm a new Mac owner, and I changed completely over to Apple over the weekend.  Have na iMac and Mac Book Pro with a 2 TB Time Capsule.  Hooked everythng up and all seems to be working, except everytime my computers go into sleep mode when I wake them up they ask me to select my wireless network again because I lost connection.  Once I select my network it works fine until the computer goes to sleep.  WhenI wake it up, it asks me again.  I have it set to automatically connect to known networks, but it doesn't.  I have to click on it everytime I wake up the computer.  Before I hooked up the TC, I was using my old wireless router and it stayed connected.  Now that I put the TC in as my wireless neteork it asks me to select my network.  Is there something I'm not doing that may help the iMac and Mac Book Pro stay connected?
    Thanks.

For that particular WiFi update, yes - it means you can't download it. However, that update may have been included already in M-L 10.8 ...
I feel your pain regarding these anomalies - I had the same problems on my year-old iMac that I just exchanged with Apple for a new one - I had worked these software/network issues on the old one for over five months, and finally, I demanded a new system as a replacement. Just too many problems. For me, Update 10.7.3 for Lion was the cause of my network problems. The WiFi update/patch solved the sleep issue for me, but not the auto-connect problem for system start-up's and restart's. After system start-up's and restart's, I would have to manually select my router address to connect via WiFi. But after manually selecting the address, the WiFi connection would stay-on - it wouldn't drop-off.
Again, with this replacement iMac, I don't even trust its WiFi capability - and with a desktop, why should I ? I simply purchased a Cat-6 Ethernet cable, and wired it into my Time Capsule ... To heck with WiFi ! ... Remember: don't download ANY system updates wirelessly ! Don't do it. ... Apple will rue the day they did away with Ethernet connectors on their computers ... - The same goes for CD-based software, or at least some other "physical" means for software installation ...
But, as for future system updates, and how they affect this new iMac ? - If they screw it up, I'm not messing with it ! - Apple's getting it back, the next day ! I'm not going to go through five months of testing, repairs, forced new purchases, etc. etc. ever again ...

  • My ipad is not getting connected to wifi. It is saying unable to join the network???

    Hi,
My ipad suddenly stopped connecting to wifi. I tried to reinstall IOS 5.1 but still the same problem. Can someone help me?

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
