My iPad 2 screen went black
Last night, the screen on my iPad 2 went black. At first I thought it was because it froze up. The music that I was listenting to was still playing so I decided to let it continue to play to let the battery run down. I plugged it in this morning to charge and the screen doesn't come up. How do I fix this?
Plug it into the wall charger for at least an hour.
Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

My 13 month old Ipad 2 screen went black while sitting on the table. NO drops or damage. Tried both reboots, synced with itunes (it was there, fully charged) and rest to factory settings. still no screen. now the store wants to charge me a minimum of $80 just to look at it. Any ideas?
Found this thread by searching the forum. I hope it helps.

IPad 2 screen went black all of a sudden while i was using it. what do i do
i recently bought an iPad 2 its been working fine since. but today i was using it and i was putting an app in a folder then all of a sudden the screen went black, iv tried pressing the home button and on/off but nothing works
Assuming that the battery isn't empty (and it can take up to 15 minutes of charging before it will respond), then have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I installed ios7 on my iPad 2 yesterday, this morning it wouldn't open the weather channel app. I thought maybe I should power it down. When I held down on the power button the screen went black and now it won't do anything. What do I do now?
Try a reset: Press and hold both Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the Apple logo appears.

The following is how to do a proper reset of an iDevice:
Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally. -
When I added a contact to my contacts, took a picture and added Ringtone, pressed done, the screen went black and I am not able to access contacts. I turned off the ipad but still cannot access contacts.
I don't fully understand what the System Reset does but I've found that it cures many ills. It's easy, quick and harmless:
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.
A System Reset does not remove any apps, music, movies, etc. nor does it cause any settings to revert back to default.
Also, you might wish to download the iPad-2 User Guide. Pay special attention to page 162. Note that this Guide also applies to the iPad-1 with IOS 4.3 except for those functions that are not supported by the hardware.

Finally, the User Guide can be downloaded at no charge via iBooks and a less comprehensive version of the Guide is included as a Safari bookmark. -
I updated my ipad today. right after it updated, the screen went black. Since then I have not been able to turn on my ipad. I am recharging it. It has been recharging for 55 minutes. I have tried to reboot, nothing. I have tried everything i know to do. Nothing What else can I do?
You may need to try recovery mode now. Read this.

Hello. I dropped my ipad, first gen, from my chair to the floor. The screen went black and I can't start it again. I have tried to hold both buttons down at the same time, but nothing happens. Any help?
You will probably have to contact Apple for repair but before you do try this:
Turn your iPad upside down on your lap and give it a hard smack on the back. -
Attempting to download IOS6 onto iPad2. Two minutes after download began, the screen went black. Over two Hours since download began and I still cannot get the device to power back on. Battery was 90% when download began. Is there a way to force the power on?
worked for me, then general software update showed "ios 7.0.4" is up to date. awful long and frightening update but all well that ends well. this Sleep/wake AND Home worked to shut off.

Hello, miller.lala78.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that your daughter's iPod touch will not respond. I would start with going through the troubleshooting steps in the article below.

new i pad 3 was working via setup then screen went black can hear it working but no picture please help
If this is a brand new iPad - and I don't know where you can buy a brand new iPad 3, I would take it back to the store before going any further. It sound like the screen dies from what you are saying.

I have an ipod A1285, I have 2,858 songs on it. The screen went black and i can barely see it now. Can apple fix this for me? Or can i get my songs off this ipod and put on a new one?
Hey BlueEyedDude,
Thanks for the question. I’m sorry to hear about your iPod nano! If you believe you have isolated the issue completely to hardware, you can learn more about servicing your device at the following link:
Apple - Support - Service Answer Center

If you’d like to attempt some more troubleshooting tips, see this link:

If you do decide to service your device, you’ll want to make sure all of the music and information is backed up. If you regularly sync your device with a computer, this music should be on the computer. If not, you can learn about what purchases you can transfer from the iPod to a computer:
