My ipad 2 suddenly stopped connecting to my home network..

I was browsing the internet on my ipad and suddenly it stopped connecting to wifi. I wondered if there was a problem with the router but I was able to connect with all the other devices. I treid restoring my ipad to the latest version (ios6.1.3) and resetting network settings but they did not work. Any help would be much appreciated.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • My ipad has suddenly stopped connecting to the internet. The settings have not been changed. Why is this?

My ipad has suddenly stopped connecting to the intenet via my home wifi system. The settings have notbeen changed. why is this?

The first thing to try is to power down your modem and router for about 30 seconds, then repowering by plugging them back in.
Also, if that doesn't work, on your iPad you can try going into settings/safari/clear history/clear data and cookies.

  • I have the new iOS 6.1.2 on my iPad.  My wifi connects to my home network but keeps dropping it and won't reconnect.  Did not have this problem with previous iOS.

I have the new iOS 6.1.2 on my iPad.  My wifi connects to my home network but keeps dropping it and won't reconnect.  Did not have this problem with previous iOS.  Apple, you have a quality assurance issue.  Don't be like Microsoft where they send out pieces of junk with testing it.

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

My MACbook pro stopped connecting to my home network out of the blue. Keeps on asking me for the password although it is saved on keychain . Haven't changed anything, all of my other apple devices have not been affected.

  • MacBookPro suddenly stopped linking to my home network by Wi-Fi.

Without me making any system updates or changes, my MacbookPro today put up the following message
"Another device on the network is using your computer’s IP address (192.168.0.5).
Try connecting again later. If you continue to have problems, change the IP address of this computer or the IP address of the other device. Contact the network administrator if you need more information."
A little later my MacbookPro stopped communicating with the internet and with my printer, both of which it normally does by wi-fi. The internet connection was previously via my small home network which also incorporates an iMac, a Time Capsule, a Canon printer and a router.
When I attempt now to communicate via wi-fi from the MacbookPro I cannot access the internet or my printer. However, the MacbookPro is still able to communicate with the iMac by wi-fi.
The MacbookPro can connect to the internet if I connect it by an ethernet cable to the Time Capsule.
I've tried setting up a new wi-fi connection in Preferences/Network, but can't do so as I don't know what to enter for the IP address and the Subnet Mask. The message under 'Status' in Preferences/Network when I select 'Wi-fi' in left panel is "Wi-Fi has the self-assigned IP address 169.254.85.222 and will not be able to connect to the Internet."
So I still can't use wi-fi to connect to my Home Network, the internet or my printer.
I have reset the Time Capsule, but the problem persists.
The iMac appears to be operating normally. It is connected to the Time Capsule by ethernet cable, as usual.
Any suggestions about what has caused this to happen and how to fix it?

I'm a bit surprised I have had no response to this question. Have I supplied too much information?
NOPE!  We need all the details we can get! You can never supply too much info.
Sometimes, we don't know the answers or the answers may be already supplied in previous threads and/or Knowledge Base.  You will have to do a forum & KB search if you have not already done so.
That being said, will give it a shot...
    Try the basics first:
Change your router channel number.  Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem.  unplug it for about 10 seconds.  Plug it back in.  Do the same for Apple’s routers.  Wait for everything to reboot.
    System Preferences>Network
    Click the Assist Me button.
In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button & do the necessary.
Research Knowledge Base for network problems that pertain to the OS that is currently installed on your computer.   See these basic networking KB Articles:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1401 AirPort troubleshooting guide

  • HT4262 My iPhone and iPad have suddenly stopped connecting to my apple router?

My iPhone and iPad have all of sudden started not connecting to my apple router; but they connect fine on the guest n/w I've created on the same router?  I've restated the router, changed channels but I'm now a bit lost to understand why after years of use and no problems why devices are now struglging to connect.  The wireless network is there it just seems these particluar devices can't now connect.  I've tried "forget this network" but nothing seems to work - so any help and suggestions welcome - thanks.

What version of Outlook? What version of iOS do you have on the iPhone? What version of iTunes? Can you think of anything different that you did in Outlook when this ability to sync stopped, i.e. new appointment, recurring appointment, etc.?  Have you recently done any updates or installed new software to the computer? Are you aware that all support for XP stops in about 60 days? What troubleshooting steps have you taken?

  • Imac and Macbook Pro suddenly stopped connecting to my wireless network

I am having the strangest problem. I've had a linksys router for years and my network has worked fine. I have a 2008 iMac, a new Mac Book Pro, Xbox 360, and a PS3 connected to it. Yesterday, the Apple products stopped connecting to the linksys, however the Xbox and PS3 connected fine. I thought it was my router being the problem so I went to Apple Store and bought an airport express to just set that up as my primary router. I could not set it up the normal way wirelessly as neither my iMac or MBP would pick it up via the Airport Utility tool. I had to hardwire it to my iMac to get it set up. It seemed to not be working however the green light did eventually come on. My xbox connected to it fine, however the iMac and MBP would not connect. Both did end up connecting but only for a short time and now neither can find the Airport Express. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what my problem is? It just doesnt make sense that both mac computers stopped picking up the linksys at the same time, and neither will really pick up the Airport express either. I'm just so distraught over this because I had everything working fine such as sharing files, wireless printer, Apple TV, etc.

Hi there, I have exactly the same problem, one year with imac and a few months ago my wireless network disconnected and kept disconnecting and connecting on and off, it's not the Internet because laptop and other aps are ok
Today I tried contacting Virginmedia to see if they could help and they told they are not trained for mac! Anyway they suggested to try to use the "renew DHCP lease" button in the TCP/IP page in network settings and it seems it is working better now, lets see if it lasts...

  • Why did my iPhone suddenly stop connecting to my home wi-fi network?

I have had the phone for about a week.  It connected to my home wi-fi network perfectly.  Yesterday, I suddenly lost connection and when I went to rejoin the network, it took me several tries and various methods recommended by other forums before it would finally connect.  Today the same thing happened, after working perfectly fine for the first part of the day.  Except now, I can't get it to rejoin at all.  Just wondering if anyone has ideas as to what the problem might be, before I contact technical support.

By the way, I didn't have any software updates, nor did I change any settings prior to this happening.

    Hi there,
I've had my iMac for about 2 years and had no problems up to now.
About two days ago my wireless network disconnected and kept disconnecting and connecting on and off, it's not the Internet because my iPod and pc are fine.
I was just wondering what could of caused this, a virus? Dodgy update install? Also how I can fix this? If I reinstall my os will it wipe my files, I'm a filmmaker so I need to keep pretty much everything on my computer
    Thank youuu!

  • Imac suddenly stopped connecting to network

sorry if this topic already exists somewhere. i've been searching these forums for an hour and can't find any useful help on the subject.
we bought our first mac almost 1.5 yrs ago. this beautiful 27" imac worked fine for 1 year and then suddenly stopped connecting to our wireless network. distance to the wireless router isn't an issue. doesn't matter where i move it to in the house, it sees the network, but won't connect anymore. 6 other laptops/video game consoles/pc's all continue to connect w/o a problem. this happened once approx 3 months ago and i figured our old router had kicked the bucket, so i bought a new router and it worked fine for several months and now it's happening again.
i've gone thru all the preliminary steps of unplugging the modem, the router, the imac, and renewing the dhcp but nothing helps. it will work fine if i wire it directly to the router, but i don't want to run a 75ft ethernet cable thru the house.
i'm so frustrated with this supposedly wonderful imac! can anyone help me?

Here's something to think about... I know my AT&T DSL Cable Modem will only allow a certain number of connections. A few years ago that might not have been an issue, but now with wi-fi cells, gaming systems with netflix, other laptops/ipads, you might be exceeding that limit. It could be they are all connected and you don't have a spot on the router.
This might be elementary, but thought I'd throw that out there.

  • Iphone 4s wifi suddenly stopped connecting to home network

My iphone 4s suddenly stopped connecting to my home wifi 2 weeks ago, now it won't even bring it up on the list of available networks. I have tried resetting network settings, have tried manually connecting but it says "unable to locate network". Why would this all of a sudden start doing this when I have had this phone for over a year. My husbands iphone 4 has no problems whatsoever and connects to our home network just fine so I know it is not the router. This is so frustrating

I'm currently suffering from this problem as well. If you or your husband can get your iPhone open, there may be a screw in the upper antenna area of the iPhone that is loose (this screw grounds the antenna to the chip/mainboard).
    http://www.iphoneshopusa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/top-shield-iphone4- wifi-problem1.png
It's pointed out in the image above. Many have tightened the screw and said their Wi-Fi optimally again. Having a phone for a year does mean a lot of wear-and-tear: dropping, vibration, heat, all accumulate so that the delicate components inside get knocked around and, in this case, loose. Try this method! (If you can, of course.)
    Good luck!
