My iPad 2 won't power up and will not recover in iTunes

My iPad 2 will only power up to the Apple screen and then after around 60 seconds of being on that screen it switches itself off and starts again.
I have tried to recover the iPad through iTunes by pluging the cable into the laptop, pressing and holding the home button and then connecting the cable to the iPad. iTunes detected that the iPad was in recovery mode and started a software download, even though it said the software was up to date. About halfway through the 25 minute update iTunes gave a message stating 'iTunes could not connect to Terrie's iPad because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter the passcode before connecting it to iTunes'. I can't power the iPad up to enter the passcode, so I can have iTunes restore it! Any idea how I can get around this?

Hi,
From what you've said, I can only suggest two things:
1) Do a reset by holding the on/off and home buttons together until the Apple logo appears, or in this case, for about ten seconds.
2) If that fails, visit an Apple Retail Store or an Apple Approved Service Retailer.
Hope this helps, and good luck!

  • Since downloading iOS 8 on my iPad 2 it has stopped working and will not connect to iTunes

Since downloading iOS 8 on my iPad 2 it has stopped working and will not connect to iTunes to do a restore.  I have tried to do a reset using the sleep button and home key and all I get is a white band across the screen and then it boots into the main system but it is just a series of white lines going across the screen, how can I do a restore on this?

    Hey dbwithers,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with your iPad after attempting to update to iOS 8. To isolate these issues, let’s try placing your iPad in recovery mode and attempting a restore with iTunes:

    RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad

    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug

    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
    3. Repeat the process if necessary.

I have a MacBook pro that has power issues and will not start but the hardrive is fine.  I do not want to lose all of my files so I was wondering if it's possible to transfer my hardrive from a older Macbook pro to a new one if I were to purchase a new one?  Also, the software is not updated as the computer hasn't worked for about 2 months.
Also, if it is possible to transfer the hardrive, would my iTunes music transfer as well?  It is not saved in the cloud.
Thanks for your help, it is much appreciated.

You computer is probably perfectly repairable, but if you want a new one anyway, it is perfectly possible to transfer the data from the faulty one.
But it would be a mistake to simply put the old HD in the new computer.
    These are the steps:
Remove Hard drive from faulty computer. (very easy on Unibody MBPs, do-able but not so easy on older MBPs)
Put it in a cheap enclosure
    Connect it the new computer
    Boot up new computer.
If the new computer has never been run before the Setup Assistant will ask if you want to import your apps, data, settings etc from either another mac, another HD connected to the Mac or a Time Machine back up.
Obviously chose the second option (another HD connected to this Mac) and follow prompts.
If the new computer has already been run (so Setup Assistant doesn't run when you boot it up), you will need to use Migration Assistant...or run the installer again so that Setup Assistant runs again.

my ipad screens apple picture keeps blinking and will not open. I have tried pressing both top and bottom button together, pressing just the top, etc. and nothing...it just keeps blinking the apple?

    Hello llp03,
Thanks for the question, that definitely sounds frustrating. The following troubleshooting assistant provides steps that may lead to a resolution:
Apple - Support - iPad - iPad Troubleshooting Assistant
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/assistant/ipad/
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes
    - Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
    - If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
    - If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode.

  • Ipad frozen in off/on loop and will not reboot

ipad frozen in off/on loop and will not reboot, tried accessing itunes but needs my code on the ipad which is frozen

    I Found a solution:
this requires itunes, first plug the charger cable into the computer, then hold the home button on the iPad and plug the cable into the iPad, you should see the iTunes logo on the iPad. You will then receive prompts to restore. This assumes you backed up the device to iCloud prior to the problem.

  • My iPod 4th-gen charges just fine in any wall outlet, but when connected to my brand new ASUS Windows-8 laptop's USB 3.0 port the charging process just keeps "blinking" on both the iPod and the laptop and will not connect to Itunes...

Hi, I HATE to ask for help with this, but I HAVE looked everywhere and Google searched different wordings and have not found anything similar nor a solution to my problem!                                                                                                                                                                                                                               My good old iPod 4th-gen charges just fine in any wall outlet, in any house, but when I connect it to my brand new ASUS laptop that has Windows-8 and 3.0 USB ports using the charging/data cable, the charging process just keeps "blinking" BOTH the iPod and the laptop and it will not connect to ITunes and I get "A Device is Detected" message that keeps popping up and going away over and over right above the Windows desktop toolbar.                                                               When I go to control panel and select "Devices" it does show the iPod, but for only a split second and than it disappears, but than it comes back again for a split second and than it disappears again and just keeps doing that over and over and over!                                                                                                                  I have tried resetting the iPod while it is plugged into the laptop by holding the power and menu buttons, that did no good.                                                             I also tried uninstalling iTunes and any other Apple stuff listed and reinstalling it all, that did NOT work!                                                                                          The iPod, the laptop and iTunes ARE all fully updated!                                                                                                                                                                I AM using a brand new charging/data cable that I just opened up an hour ago (I've learned to keep a few brand new ones around at all times since these piece of garbage rip-off cables hardly last a week, even when you baby them!). I also tried a few old cables, they all do the same thing!                                                       I would like to get this piece of junk to connect to my new laptop, even if only once, so that I can change/delete some songs and transfer a few dozen photos, since I haven't been able to do any of that stuff since my old laptop (that NEVER had any problems connecting) died way back in May! lol.                                                                                                                                                                                                 I hope somebody knows a fix or solution! Thank You!
