My iPad 3 has no volume.

My iPad 3 has no volume when I play any multimedia with audio and airplay indicates that it is connected to a dock. There is no iPad option as there should be. The volume slider is missing the volume control knob. There is no dock connected. Interestingly the system sounds are fine. Anyone any ideas?

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
I saw this work for a couple of other users but YMMV. You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered.

I have tried the mystical swiping upward on the screen with 4 fingers to get some special sound menu (which I never succeeded in getting). My headphone jack doesn't work all the time either so some times my kids can hear their games and sometimes they can't. I am super frustrated at this point. So any suggestions would be great. Am I missing something basic or do we just have a soundless iPad now?

New iPad has no display in Camera app how do I fix?

Camera app has been working fine. Turned it on tonight to photograph something, and there was/is no display. I've backed out of app numerous times and select it again... same problem. Both Face Time and Photo Booth apps have proper display but not Camera. Tapping any part of screen does nothing while in Camera app. By using side volume up/down switch, I can take a photo and then look at it in Photos. Of course, not being able to see the display while taking the photo makes it difficult to aim or compose photo properly. My iPad has not been dropped or otherwise abused.
Have any suggestions how to fix? Thanks...

To solve some sound problems, just follow these simple steps
1. Go to Settings
2. Tap on General
3. Tap on Reset
4. Tap on Reset All Settings
What this effectively does is to reset some of your Settings to factory default. It’s not a complete removal of settings. It removes all of your preferences for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do No Disturb, Notifications, General, Sounds, Brightness & Wallpaper and Privacy. It doesn’t affect your data. All of your email accounts will remain intact, as well as any SMS text or iMessages.

What you describe is pretty typical of system sounds being muted, with the exception of the fact that you still have sound in FB videos, but take a look at this anyway. System sounds and screen lock use the same pair of settings. When one uses the side switch, the other is controlled with a software switch.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.

If you are running iOS 5 or iOS 6, the system sound control is in the task bar at the bottom. Double tap the home button and swipe all the way to the right in the task bar to get to the speaker icon on the left side. Tap on that and the sounds will return.

It says : "Email address is already verified for another Apple ID" I haven't really been aware of this as a problem until I tried (for the first time) to sync my iPad to the computer and became aware that certain things wouldn't transfer. What is the solution to this?

This post was about having updated the primary email address on an iTunes account via a computer - if you do that you might need to log out of the account on an iPad by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then log back in with the updated version of the account for that email address change to be recognised on your iPad. If you don't log out and back in then an iPad (or iPhone or iPod Touch) might continue to show the old version of the iTunes account id.
