My ipad 3 keeps on downloading all my emails that is already downloaded, why donwload it again if I already downloaded it.

My ipad constantly download emails that is already downloaded in my ipad.
I never delete any mails as I use my ipad for business and need to go back to confirm emails and orders.
A 1000 emails gets downloaded every day at least 3 times, why download it again if its already downloaded.

Does that means that if the developer have 2 version, on for iPad and another for iPhone, i have to pay for both copy?
If the developer makes two versions of the app, one for the iPhone and one for the iPad, rather than a universal app and the developer choses to charge for both, you will have to pay for both if you want both.

  • My iPad keeps trying to authenticate an email that isn't mine, what should I do?

It also does it on my iPhone. And recently all my contacts disappeared off my iPad. I recovered them but I feel like there is a virus or something messing with my apple products and they say they don't get viruses. Any helper?!

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.

Use your PC to sign-on to your mail service using the browser interface they provide. Delete all the e-mails you don't want on the server. That will prevent the iPad from downloading them.

  • IPad keeps crashing on all apps...safari, games, weather

iPad keeps crashing on all apps,,safari, games, weather,. After opening something about a minute it crashes. Very frustrating. Anyone with the same problem?

Well, what Nick wrote won't solve the issue. In fact, nowhere in the Apple discussion forums would you find the right answer; and I can guarantee, no Apple rep will be able to tell you what the issue is. Except me of course. Now that the self-boast is over, here's how to solve the problem once and for all (guaranteed zero crashes post this).
The basic crashing problem occurs because iPad 2 has an operating system that unfortunately opens up all apps automatically (unless instructed not to) and keeps them on the standby mode. This, combined with the fact that the iPad 2 does not have unlimited RAM (and neither does it have an intelligent process to use the hard disk when the RAM runs out), would lead to almost all iPad 2 units to crash, but only when users have loaded more number of apps than the RAM can handle.
There are three methods to resolve this issue for users (for developers and Apple tech personnel, the solutions are given later; you can contact me for the ex gratia OS source code updation to resolve this issue in case you wish):
SOLUTIONS FOR NEW USERS (warning: experienced users may find these instructions drawling out):
    1. The first method involves five concurrent steps, which I'll describe as 1a to 1e. Of course, this can be done in a shorter way, but I guess for people not conversant with shortcuts, this is better.
1a: Go to Settings > General > and switch on the "Multi tasking gestures" tab.
1b. Go to the home screen (by clicking on the Home Screen button on the iPad screen) and swipe four fingers from the bottom of the screen upwards. Do this once or twice and you'll suddenly see a new bench pop up below that contains many applications. These are the applications that are running on a stand by mode and eating up your RAM. Optimally, all of these should have been shut and only those which are being used by you should have been open. Anyway, move to 1c.
1c. On any of the app icons that you see on this new bench, keep a finger for a few seconds. Now lift your finger. You'll see all icons on the new bench start shaking - and they will additionally have a "-" sign too on their left. Click on this "-" sign and close all applications on the new bottom bench. Return to the Home Screen (click on the button on the iPad screen).
1d. The apps on the Home Screen are allocated the maximum RAM by the new OS. So, shift all downloaded apps away from the home screen into the subsequent pages. In other words, leave only the original Apple supplied apps (like Settings, Safari etc) on the main first page of the Home Screen. How does one shift other apps to subseqent pages? On any of the apps on the main Home Screen, keep a finger for a few seconds. Lift it the finger for god's sake :) Again, all icons will start shaking and will get a "x" sign on their top. DO NOT touch that "x" sign, which of course, is for deleting the app altogether. Rather, on any one of the non-original Apple apps that are present on the Home Screen, just  place your finger and without lifting the finger, slide the app to the top right corner of the screen and keep it there. You'll notice that the app suddenly gets shifted into the next page. Return to the Home Screen; repeat the process till "all" non original apps are shifted out.
1e. You can starrt working in peace right from this moment onwards without the ipad crashing. Just keep checking from time to time, how many apps are on standby (swipe four fingers upwards at any time on the iPad) and ensure that those that you are not using are closed.
1e rejoinder: Impotant instruction: NEVER work on your iPad2 while it is being recharged. The RAM gets screwed as in some iPads, there is no protective interface provided to insulate the CPU from the electrical currents. In fact, switch off your iPad while it is being recharged.
    SOLUTIONS FOR APPLE STAFF:
    1. Diret users to this thread.
    2. Offer users an upgraded RAM.
    3. Provide a protective interface to the CPU and RAM boxes from the electric charge.
    4. Recode the new OS (no need to copy what Vista does; just advise the OS to use the hard disk intelligently when app uage exceeds RAM; or do what Blackberry does - advice the users through a warning message to close down extra apps)
There you all go. (pardon the spelling mistakes; this was entered through a speech recognition sw)

  • I need to download all my emails from an html server account and archve them on my PC. How?

I have a paid email account on Spamcop, which will be shut down in a few days. I want to download all my emails, inbox and sent-mail, to my PC and archive them -- before deleting them from the server. I currently have a "mirror" of the server in Thunderbird; but I don't want to lose any of those emails when I clean off the server.
What do I need to do to accomplish this?
PS: I'm a new user who hasn't had a PC-based email client for at least 8 years.

Move all messages to your 'Local Folders' account. You can create folders underneath 'Local Folders' to mirror any folder structure you may have on the server.
To move messages to Local Folders:
Select the messages to be moved on the server.
Right-click the selected messages - choose 'Copy To'
    Select 'Local Folders' as destination.
Once the messages have been successfully copied to your disk you can delete them on the server.

Go to Mail Preferences>Accounts, click the '+' button below the list of accounts and insert the settings, username and password as instructed. Some account types can be set up automatically as soon as Mail knows the emails address (because the server settings are built in), in other cases you will have to get them from your ISP.

Try going to the web based site and see if you can set up a temporary folder there. Move anything you don't want to download to that folder.

  • If i have one iPad and I want all the apps that are there how do I copy that so i can have them on another iPad the same way as i have them on the first iPad?

if i have one iPad and I want all the apps that are there how do I copy that so i can have them on another iPad the same way as i have them on the first iPad?

If you want both iPad to be identical .....
Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
Now connect your iPad to your Mac and start iTunes.
When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases.
After it finishes transferring all your apps to the Mac, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
Sync the iPad and eject it when it is complete.
    Quit iTunes
    Connect the second iPad.
    Launch iTunes
Right click on the iPad name on the left side and select - Restore from Backup
Select the backup of the first iPad and let it restore from that backup.
When it finishes restoring - sync with iTunes to transfer all of the apps and any other content that you want onto that iPad
Eject the iPad when you are done.
Check the second iPad and if all of the content did not sync as you wanted - or you want to remove some of the content - connect it again and then choose the content that you want - uncheck what you do not want - and click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.

  • If I download all my emails from my gmail acct to thunderbird, can i then export those emails to a new gmail account? or do they stay in thunderbird?

''re :my gmail acct was recently comprised. and i was exposed to a phishing/fraud thing ''
Did someone actually gain access to your account or did you just get someone abusing your email address without your knowledge?
There are unscrupulous idiots who abuse other peoples email addresses and send emails using it. This is actually more common than you would like and has happened to me as well. Do not respond to these emails.
Tell you friends you have had someone abusing your email address and I suggest you create a HTML signature file to use in emails that you send. Tell your friends that genuine emails from you will alwways have the signature, so that they can tell the difference.
After a while the abuser gets bored and moves on to their next victim.
Usually, your account has not been hacked; just the email address abused.
To check there is no malware/virus on your computer logging keystrokes or similar, download malwarebytes:
    https://www.malwarebytes.org/
then restart your computer in Safe Mode and perform a scan using your Anti-Virus software and the malwarebytes program.
Once you have the all clear, then update your passwords.
Do not post personal information & email addresses in public forums as this is typically where abusers find the info. I notice that phillipp had to edit your question to remove personal info.
It is easier to forward emails from one email address to another via the gmail webmail account.
You do not say what type of mail account you are using.
If Pop then the emails will be downloaded from the server Inbox to Thunderbird Profile account name Inbox. Ususally, the copy is deleted off the server, but settings can be modified to leave a copy on the server.
If IMAP then you see a remote view of emails on the server.
you subscribe to see folders. email headers are downloaded and when you select to see an email, it is retrieved from the server and stored in a temp cache. These emails are not stored in Thunderbird, they are on the server.
If you synchronise those subscribed folders, then a copy is downloaded to your Thunderbird Profile, but these folders are constantly updating to match the server. If you delete any email via Thunderbird or webmail, it will be removed from both as these folders are one and the same.
So if you have IMAP then they are stored on the server then you will only have a copy at best.
If you want to get a copy into Thunderbird and delete everything on the server, you need to synchronise your subscribed folders to get full up to date copies in your Profile folders.
Then go into 'offline' mode to stop further synchronising, then move all emails into 'Local Folders' mail account. Local Folders is a special mail account - emails in this account are not efected by the server. Remember to create folders to keep your emails organised.
Once you are happy that all emails are in Local Folders account, you can delete the mail in the IMAP mail account and then remove the old gmail account if desired.
You can create a second gmail account in Thunderbird regardless of whether you delete the first one or not:
    * File > New > Existing mail account
If you put them in Local Folders then you can move/copy emails back onto server after creating new gmail account
    OR
simply create the new gmail account and move emails between
    Or
Leave the emails in Local Folders to read/store. But these emails will then be only on your computer, so creating a backup would be advisable.

  • TS3276 i am having trouble with my exchange emails. I use the latest exchange 2010 and am having trouble downloading all my emails on the macbook

I use a microdost exchange 2010 in my office.  I just bought a macbook pro and try to syn my office mail.  While it has been set up properlly and it has started downloading some of my older emails, it is taking very long and does not download all the mails especially the new ones.  The ones it has downloaded take a long time to load and open.
I bought the laptop to use it on the go. What is the solution? Please help.
    Thanks.

Startup your Mac while holding down the Option key. That should prompt the Startup Manager window where you can select the startup disk then click Restart.
If the startup disk is not available from that window, you may be able to repair the disk.

  • Re-Downloading all my email and then copying?

I just opened mail and noticed that the activity window in the lower left was going pretty nuts downloading THOUSANDS of emails. I opened up the Activity Window and it showed that it was downloading over 2500 emails from my .mac account. My two other email accounts were not effected. What was odd was that all the emails it was trying to "download" were already on my computer. It was going back to 2005. I thought maybe it was just syncing with the server or something and let it go.
Then it proceeded to cache all attachments. After that it started to COPY all my emails. At that point I had enough not knowing what was going to happen. I have to force quit to get it to stop.
So it was this a normal occurrence or something I should be concerned about? It took over a half hour and was eating up quite a bit of my processor.

Hi, Mulder. Thanks for your reply.
I was on .Mac so everything's been transitioned to MobileMe by the software updates. (I decided not to touch any of the settings for fear of upsetting anything.) I also have two Gmail accounts with Mail and they're both POP.
It started yesterday, when I got back home from work. I didn't do anything extraordinary with my MacBook while I was there.
My incoming mail server is still mail.mac.com and the outgoing server is still smtp.mac.com with server port at 587.
It appears to have stopped now but I'm curious as to how it came about in the first place.
