My iPad 3 with wifi gets very hot-is this usual?

My new iPad becomes very hot while I'm using it. It's become very difficult to read a book. Does anyone else have this problem?

an iPad will get warm, as the battery is being used, but it should not be so that you can not hold it.
I use a case granted, but I can use my iPad happily even when it gets a bit warm.
Have you had your iPad long?
It is worth a trip to see an Apple Genius if an Apple store is near you. You can make an appointment via the Apple website.

ipad mini charger getting very hot. Not the ipad. What is it? A problem, or normal?

Warm is normal. Too hot to handle, literally, is not. So if you can hold it, then it's probably fine. Mine gets hot when it's charging. But if it's too hot for you to hold then you should stop using it and get it checked out an apple store.

  • I have a new iPad with retina display it seems to get very hot is this right

Should the iPad get very hot ?

I would recomend turning down your brightness of your screen.  It should be put to to 50-60% and now the iPadwill not get warm. Still you can feel the heat but at least it does not get as warm as using 100% brightness.

  • My MacBook Pro with Retina display is getting very hot, is this normal?

I recently downloaded Counter-Strike Global Offensive and Minecraft on my Mac, and after about a minute of playing one of these games, my Mac would get very hot right above the keyboard. The fans get very loud and it seems a bit unusual, Is this damaging my Macbook pro?

Use it and keep it on when it gets very hot take it to your local Apple Store you might be successful and receive a new one, because the unit has to have some type of defect. Take your receipt if you still have it.

  • Itouch 4g in facetime got really hot at the top and then the screen changed to a very light blue.  I restored it and checked for updates, but the screen is still messed up and the itouch gets very hot.  This came on very fast.

Can't get the screen back to normal mode after restoring it, and it still gets very hot at the top when using it in any mode.  Any suggestions?

  • When recharging my "new ipad" the transformer gets very hot and it takes 12hrs or more to achieve 100%. Anyone else having this problem? The transformer gets so hot i am afraid it will melt or syart a fire.

When recharging the transformer gets extremely hot , so hot i am afraid it will melt down. It takes almost 20 hrs to reach 100%. Any ideas?

    This is very unusual.
If you are using cable that came with your iPad than I suggest going to the nearest Apple Store. This does not seem to be a software issue so I can not help you with that

  • When I'm listening to the radio or charging it, my i phone gets very hot, is this normal?

Hello, i´ve noted that my IPhone 4 gets really hot (burn the hand) when i´m listening to the radio, or even when it´s charging the battery.
    Is this normal??
    Thank you guys!!

No, if it's too hot to hold, you may want to have it evaluated by someone at the Apple store. Good luck!

  • TS3274 My iPad gets very hot even with short term use. Is this normal?

My iPad gets very hot even with short term use. Is this normal?

I assume that you mean your new iPad - the 3rd generation model. No - that is not normal. Some users have reported this issue and it may be that you have a faulty device.
It may get a little warmer than the previous models of iPads but it should not get "very hot" under any circumstances. Return it - take it to an Apple Store and let a Genius have a look - contact Apple however you need to do so - and let them know about it - but that is NOT normal.

  • HT4060 When I charge my ipad on some occasions the plug gets very HOT.  the ipad still charges but slower.????

When I charge my ipad using the small UPSpower adapter, the adapter gets very HOT on about every third use.  It still charges but more slowly.  Is any one having a similiar problem??  An sugstions as to how to correct it???

Not staff or owner by a long shot.
I just know that anecdotally I have seen people reporting issues with their mini's charging. Is there a real issue or not? I don't know. Not a day goes by that a person doesn't post here complaining that their iPad won't charge and it turns out that they're trying to do it via USB or with the iPhone block.
But while there are a lot of user fixes sometimes it's good to have the pros take a look at things, and at the very least document that there has been an issue.
the four main reasons an iPad won't charge (beyond being plugged into a USB port)
    Bad cable
    bad outlet
    bad brick
rule those out and it leaves issue with the iPad.

  • How do I get rid of the iCloud Backup alert message?  I cannot do anything with my iPad and cannot get rid of the alert. I have plugged in the iPad with Wifi on, but it won't reset.  Thanks

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Yes you can.  All Ipad's are unlocked and can be used any where in the world. Buy the AT&T version which is GSM in other countries

  • My Thinkpad edge e330 gets very hot with xubuntu 12.10

    Hi,
I own a Thinkpad edge e330. IT is perfect for my use. And I love it alot. but it has some problem. it gets very hot with xubuntu 12.10.
the temperatur goes up to 70 after using it in 30 min. even when it is not hot in the room. I think it is very strange and 70 is very high for a Intel computer.
Can anybody here tell me how to make the temperatur come down? thanks!

For sure that isn't normal temperature. I have E330, i3-3110M, Ubuntu 12.10/13.04: temps stay around 40-45 celcius in idle/low load.
    - what about the temperatures on Windows? If they're high too, I'd really suggest some vent dusting too...
    - what BIOS settings do you mean?
Check that the CPU frequency scaling is working (wouldn't expect the problem to be about this though, but you never know...):
    cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep -i "cpu mhz"
TLP power management might also fix this issue, but regardless of the issue I recommend to install it (easy to install via PPA): http://www.webupd8.org/2013/04/improve-power-usage-battery-life-in.html
I'd also try updating to Xubuntu 13.04... there is always something new and this could be a bug.

Is it getting hot only when charging?
Not normal. Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

  • E4200 quitting every 15 to 24 hours and getting very hot

I purchased an E4200 from a retail store about ten days ago.
It completely quits periodically. Even the managment interface is gone. It seems to just die. The only fix is to unplug it, count to ten and plug it back in.
The router also gets extremely hot. I have tried locating it in several places, no matter where I put it, it still gets very hot. Right now I have it straddling a trash can so that it has about two feet of air space under it. It is still uncomfortable to the touch.
When I contacted technical support all they would do is walk me through setting it up from scratch again. I've done that many times, and I do not want to do it agian. Setting the router up agian will not make it cool down.
    Should I:
    1. Exchange this for another one, probably from the same batch, at the store?
    2. Fight with Linksys tech support to get a waranty return? (Any input on how to get them to do this?)
    3. Return this router altogether (paying the retailer's 15% restocking fee) and look for another brand?
    Any thoughts or opinions?
    Thank you

Unfortunately even turning it upside down and a local cold snap were not enough to "fix" this router.
It did stop completely locking up. I could always get to the web interface.
However, the WiFi still quit accepting clients after a day or two. The radios were still broadcasting the SSIDs, but all clients were kicked off and could not connect.
Very dissapointing. I have read other reviews that also say the radios quit periodically. I wish Linksys would figure that out and/or at least offer real tech support who could work with me on my actual problem and not just read scripts to me about how to reset the router.
I took the router back for a full refund from the retailer. I am impressed that I could get a full refund. If I hear that Linksys acknowledges and fixes this problem in the future I will probably buy another one.
