My ipad 3 won't go to sleep with Smart Cover or no cover at all

AFter installing iOS 7 my iPad 3 won't go to sleep after closing it's Smart Cover or no cover at all regardless of how long it goes unused.

I would suggest you check the settings for the Smart Cover -- perhaps toggle the Lock option on & off.

If that does not resolve the issue, then follow these steps:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

Go to Settings > General > Reset, then choose an option:
Reset All Settings: All your preferences and settings are reset.

The button on the top of your iPad is not the power button, it's the SLEEP button. Yes, tapping that will get your iPad to sleep.
If you're concerned about battery usage, turning off your iPad every night is not the question. Turning your iPad back on may actually use MORE power than just sleeping it all night.
The Apple form of "Sleep" is basically "turn off the screen." What you are describing sounds right. What is a "locked locked", by the way?

IPhone dead after resting on iPad with smart cover

Last night I set my fully charged iPhone 4s on top of my iPad2 with smart cover and went to bed (both powered on). This morning my phone was completely dead. Does this have something to do with the magnets in the iPad/smart cover, or is this just signal interference between the devices?

Probably neither, just coincidence. Plug in the phone to the wall charger for 15 minutes, then hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons until an Apple logo appears.

To resolve issues with sending and receiving iMessages, follow these steps first
Check iMessage system status for current service issues.
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and make sure that you have registered iMessage with your phone number or Apple ID and that you have selected iMessage for use. Learn more about troubleshooting iMessage registration if the phone number or Apple ID isn't available for use.
Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify data connectivity. Learn more about troubleshootingcellular data or a Wi-Fi connection if a data connection isn't available.
iMessage over cellular data might not be available while on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn more about which network your phone supports. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi on to use iMessage while on a call if your network doesn't support simultaneous data and voice calls.
Restart your device.
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
If you are still unable to send or receive an iMessage, follow these steps
Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
Verify that the contact you are attempting to send a message to is registered with iMessage.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.

I use the i-Blason Cushion Sleeve. The iPad Mini fits great and there is a little zipper pouch for a charger and stylus.

IPad 2 won't go into sleep mode while charging

In the past couple of days my iPad 2 will not go into sleep mode while it is charging. The screen will go dim, but never go black. Any suggestions? I know I can just push the button on the top to force it into sleep mode and it will, but I've never had to do that before. I've had this iPad for over a year.

this is a software glitch, i suggest holding the home button and power button together untill you see the apple then let go, do not slide to power off, if all else fails you might have to restore the device to factory settings, still doesnt do that then its a hardware issue, and its probably going to be 250$ or more to replace

MBP won't go to sleep with lid open with Lion OS

I had this same problem with Snow Leopard and I fixed it somehow, but when I upgraded to Lion my laptop won't go to sleep when my MBP lid is open. However, it does go to sleep when I close the lid. When the lid is open, the display goes black, but the light doesn't pulsate. If my power adapter isn't plugged it, it completely drains the battery. I've unchecked "wake for network access", turned off bluetooth, and turned off sharing, but it still won't go to sleep when the lid is open.
Anyone having similiar problems? Anyone fixed this problem?

I have the same problem. I upgraded to Lion and now when I close the lid it won't sleep.
Also my CPU and Virutal Memory are constantly maxed out and I'm not doing anything different then I was doing before Lion was installed. In Activity Monitor its showing my System at 40-50% and my user at 40-50% constantly.
Any have any idea how to fix this?

MacBook won't go to sleep with Lid opened

I have set the Computer Sleep time to 5 minutes. Its connected to a power source. There are no running tasks and a few apps are loaded in memory (Mail, Safari, iChat, iTunes, Numbers and QT X). No devices are connected. It simply won't go to sleep.
It does when the lid is closed but not otherwise as it should after 5 minutes of inactivity. The Display sleep slider is also set on 5 minutes and that doesn't work either.

I have a 13 inch macbook white, and recently when I go to put it to sleep, a message pops up saying you must restart your computer and it forces me to push the power button to shut it off. Then if I leave it alone to go to sleep on its own, when I come back to it, it won't come back on so I have to manually shut it down again. When I do fully turn the computer back on, it says that the Mac software quit unexpectedly. Does anyone know why it is doing this all of a sudden?

I am about to buy an iPad 3rd gen. Do I get a Smart Cover?

I was planning on buying a polyurethane Smart Cover at the same time as the iPad, and this would be the only protection I would have for it.
That being said, I own an iPhone 4S, and have never used a screen protector or case for it. It goes in my pocket basically whenever I am not using it. I have some light scratches on the back glass that you can see only in the right light, and nothing on the screen.
Based on that, would you say that this will be enough protection for me? Also, for those of you who own an iPad and a Smart Cover, do you recommend the cover? I have read on this forum from time to time that the Smart Cover can scratch the iPad where it hinges to it, and that sometimes the screen gets scratches from dirt that is being held there by the cover itself.
I am not really paranoid, but I don't want to be on this forum in 2 or 3 weeks asking what I can do about the scratches on the screen of my iPad.

The Smart Cover only protects the front screen. You'll get scratches on the back plus it provides no protection for a small drop.
I added a screen protector as it was cheap insurance protection.
For my iPad 2, I bought an Adesso case/keyboard model WKB-2000CD http://www.adesso.com/en/component/content/article/49-coming-soon/455-wkb-2000cd .html Works great & looks good. The keyboard is easier to use than Apple's on-screen keyboard. Do a Google search using the model number to get the best price. About the same price as Apple's covers & it covers the whole iPad. Although the new iPad is slightly thicker, it should fit this case.

Ipad sleeve with smart cover

Hi,
I am looking for some type of sleeve for my ipad when I travel to/from work on my motorcycle. The plan would be to have the ipad in the saddlebag, but have a bit of extra protection from vibration and such. I have a smart cover and the thin back protector installed. I would like something with some extra space to keep those on and just slide the ipad into the sleeve.

I would just find a generic neoprene sleeve. Look at office supply stores or the such.

IPad (4th gen) screen scrambled (static) with smart cover.

The screen on my iPad becomes scrambled when connecting/disconnecting smart cover. (image attached) I am afraid that something has been damaged by the magnets. Is there a solution to fix this? I could not find much help doing various searches.

First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

My iPhone5 and iPad Air won't sync by USB with iTunes 11.1.4(62)

Since updating to iTunes 11.1.4(62) both my iPhone 5 and iPad Air do not sync. I am using an Apple USB cable plugged directly into my 27" late 2012 iMac. WIth the phone I get an -50 error message. With theiPad Air it gets up to syncing Apps, and then gets hung up. I have rebooted all of the devices and iTunes multiple times, and it still does not work. Any ideas? I see a lot of people are having syncing troubles with iTunes 11.1.4(62) on different devices too.

It sounds like you have a firewall or virus protection software interfering with the process.

Won't go to sleep with sleep timer set

After upgrading to Snow Leopard have been having the following problem:
When I go to bed, I set my mac to play an iTunes internet stream. I set the Dashboard widget "Minutes" to sleep my computer after one hour or more. I did this procedure all of the time under Leopard and there were no problems. However, in Snow leopard, the computer doesn't go to sleep anymore. The timer in minutes counts down to zero and the computer doesn't go to sleep. If I set the timer on a shorter time period (like 15 minutes), the mac will sleep. I have also tried other dashboard widgets such as Shutdown Timer and they also have the same problem.
Has anyone had this problem? Any suggestions?

Now that I think about it, that could be the issue. While your computer is trying to go to sleep, the internet stream is preventing it. Can you stop the audio before the sleep time? Also, try unchecking Wake for network access in Energy Saver in System Preferences.
I have a feeling that SL new "require password after screensaver/sleep" option is causing the issue.
I doubt it. But you can still try to disable the option and see what happens.
One other thing...try slowly reducing the timing on your widget. What time is the border between when it works and when it doesn't?
