My ipad battery and home button are broken but I have no insurance

I got a keyboard for my ipad and since using it the battery has gone. It takes around 8 hours to charge and the drains in 1 hour. You can't use it whilst it is charging either. Also the button has stopped working so I can't use that. Does anyone have a rough idea on how much this will cost as I have no insurance on it? Thanks

If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5s. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.
You may take your device to an Apple retailer for help or you may call Customer Service and arrange to send your device to Apple:

  • Issues with battery and home button replacement programme

    Hi!
I've just found out I'm eligible for iPhone 5 battery and home button replacement programme. I have replaced screen after it broke, 2 months ago in an unauthorised service. Every single authorised service I've called refuses to replace them for free with an explanation that my phone is no longer eligible for free batt. and home button replacement due to unauthorised screen replacement that leads to warrantee loss .
My iPhone's warrantee has expired long time ago, since I've bought it in 2013. , but this mistake was made in a factory, prior to my screen replacement. What shall I do?

Yes, that is correct. You can try asking if you can pay to replace the screen and see if they will then handle the other issues. But, I doubt they'll agree.

  • My IPad screen is grey even after I tried pressing the sleep and home button for reboot but turns out it stays grey.

My IPad screen is grey even after I tried pressing the sleep and home button for reboot but turns out it stays grey.

You can try to reboot a few more times. If it doesn't come back and you normally sync to a computer, hook it up and see if the 'guts' are working even if the screen isn't.
Beyond that you should make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out.

my iphone's sleep wake and home buttons are not working

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

Firstly, I purchased my first iPhone a few years ago, since then there have been a lot of apps released, a lot which I downloaded for free, tried and deleted from both my phone and my iTune 'Apps' Panel. What bothers me is when I do get a new iOS device, iPad and/or iPhone 5, and I don't want to just copy the back-up of my current iOS device to the new one, then to get the apps I want I will have to scroll through countless useless 'trash' applications in my purchase history to 'cloud download' the ones I want.
Just sync the apps you want from your computer. You don't need to redownload them directly on the iPhone Purchased list.
Will Apple be employing such a feature, a 'permanently delete/un-purchase' feature?
    Dunno.

  • IPod Touch won't turn on and Home button is broken!

I tried to restore my iPod touch with iTunes, then I got error 1601. From this moment, the device won't turn on. The home button is broken and warranty is expired, so I don't know how to solve this problem. I know people who press power and home button at the same time, (and it works) but as I said, the home button is broken. It was broken long before the restore attempt, and I already tried every single way to fix it.

If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
    Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you checked your connections and are still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues.

  • Phone isn't working but lights on back and home buttons are on

I'm not sure what's happening with my phone. I can't get anything to come up on the screen. I hold the power button down and the home and back buttons at the bottom just blink. I tried plugging it in to charge but nothing happens. Anyone have any ideas?

This is what happens when the screen is locked.  If you can swipe up to unlock the screen (or enter your passcode, or do whatever you have set as security, default is just a swipe up), then hold the power button down, you should get options to power down, start airplane mode, etc....  If the power button is held down and the main screen is locked, the blinking home and back buttons are all you get.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. The appointment is free. No warranty required

  • My Ipad is stuck on the connect to itunes screen and I cannot get it to work even when I connect to itunes. I have tried switching it off and plugging it in while the home button and on button are switched but nothing works.  Please help me.

My Ipad is stuck on the connect to iTunes screen, I have tried plugging into iTunes but it makes the necessary noise but the computer does not recognise it and nothing alters on the Ipad screen. Have tried various computers and leads and it still does not work.  Have also tried the switching off, plugging in to computer and turning on again using the on button and then the home button but nothing works.  This happened while I was downloading software update.   Please help me.

I suggested several things to GeekyNerdGirl in her first post here. Take a look.
My iPad is in what seems like permanent restore mode after iOS 7.2 update?
It can take more than a few attempts before Recovery Mode will work and you have to follow the steps exactly. DFU mode is even harder to perform correctly beside of the 10 second hold. Don't stop trying. Eventually one of these methods could work for you.

  • How do I power off my phone when both the lock button and home button are malfunctioning?

My home button and lock button don't work. My screen is frozen and I need to know if there's a way that I can power off my phone or reset it.

Hold both down at same time for about 10-15 seconds and see if it restarts.   If not, the battery will eventually die at which point it will shut down.
You'd need to get the phone repaired/replaced if your buttons are truly broken.

I have tried several fixes to no avail. The buttons worked until recently. Not sure when exactly they stopped.

Back/Forward Home don't work in 7.0.1 due to '''network.http.max-connection'''s being upped to 256, reduce back down to 32.

  • My iPod touch 4G home button is broken, but i live in Puerto Rico, what should I do?

I got my iPod touch 4G for almost 4 months. Apparently I got one year of warranty from Apple. My iPod touch home button do not respond very well. I keep pressing it a lots of times but this don't resolve anything. I live in Puerto Rico and when I was doing the waranty process in the Apple.com, when I put my adress, it said to me that the type of service that I'm trying to do, doesn't work in my location. This is the first time that I try to do this and I don't know what to do. This is not my first iPod, and everytime I bought one, thay say that I got one year of warranty with Apple. If someone know what should I do, please let me know. Thanks. (me pueden contestar en ingles como en español)

If AppleCare is not available in Puerto Rico and the same for an Apple retail store, you can contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
