My iPad Can't rotate

My ipad won't rotate even though i unmark my lok rotation. Why?

pjl means the volume up and down button, a.k.a. the volume rocker. Below that is the switch he is talking about. Undo typing appears if you shake the iPad while a keyboard is displayed.

Normally, the page will rotate when you rotate your iPad.

Double-tap the home button and then swipe it to the right. Along with music and brightness controls, there will be a button with an arrow in a circle. If there's a lock in the middle, tap it.

If there isn't a lock symbol then try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

if you go to settings-General
You can select between using the side switch to lock rotation or mute. If you select one mute, then the lock rotation icon will show up in the control center. If you select lock rotation, then the mute will show up. THe side switch is then used for the other option.

My ipad rotates everywhere else but when mail mode. I can only view mail on landscape, two columns, mail boxes to the left and mail content to the right. Ios 7 screen can't rotate

I am using iOS 7.0.2 for my ipad 4, sometimes the screen can't be rotate, the lock button was off, so sometimes it become frustrating when the screen can't rotate, this problem didn't exist in iOS 6, I believe it is a bug.

If you are sure that the screen is unlocked but still will not rotate, reset the iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the button.
If that doesn't work, reset all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. No data will be lost but all settings will have to be entered again.

Hi there, my iPad's auto-rotation frequently stops working and the only way I can get the screen to rotate gain, is to reboot. It used to be once in while but now happens every day which is very frustrating. What can I do to stop this? Thanks, Siobhan

I know you already stated that you have to reboot, but make sure you're doing it this way. I've found some that do it differently and the results can be different.
Make Sure iOS is updated to the latest version
Reboot the device by pressing and holding down the home and sleep/wake buttons (power) at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
If that doesn't work then reset the device by going to settings/general/reset/reset all settings

My iPad will not rotate. I have the solutions that were on here and none of them work. It is not locked I have checked.

I have searched for a possible reason to why my iPad will not rotate. I found this forum and tried the solutions posted but they did not work. This is not my first apple product, so I am not completely ignorant to this. I searched in the ad it self to see why but apparently no settings were changed. It worked fine, i pluged it in so I can take care of the baby and when I went to pull it off and use it, it would not rotate any more.

That's your problem. You gave priority to the baby! What's wrong with you?
Seriously, despite your comments, I strongly suspect that the issue is an incorrect setting. It's easy to accidentally mess it up if you're new to the iPad.
The side switch is the key. Depending on your settings, it may affect the mute or it may affect the rotation lock. This support article from Apple provides detail.

In case you're wondering, here is the history. Originally, the mechanical switch affected only the rotation lock and the mute was a software switch elsewhere. In IOS-3, it was changed to be the mute switch and the rotation lock became a software switch. This was done to ensure consistency among IOS devices. Unfortunately, a large quantity of users complained loudly, alleging that they turned the rotation lock on and off several times every hour and the convenience of the mechanical switch is essential. In IOS-4, Apple bowed to the whiners and made the switch function selectable and now we're stuck with a mess.
