My iPad doesn't ring when someone calls on face time. Any idea why?

I have two iPads... both are brand new. When I use face time to call from iPad "1" to iPad "2" everything works fine. When I call from iPad "2" to iPad "1" iPad "1" doesn't ring. The screen lights up with the 'accept call' or reject call buttons, and if I hit accept, it works fine. But it doesn't ring.
Both iPads have the exact same settings. I have turned face time off, powered down, restarted and turned face time back on... nothing. And no offense to Apple's website, but I can't find anything that helps.
Any ideas out there? Or will I end up having to restore the original settings and re-install all of the apps and data?
Thanks...

  • Iphone 4 doesn't ring when someone calls

My iPhone 4 does not ring when someone calls. I have checked volume and it is turned on. Left side button is up for ring sound. Volume buttons don't do any good. I updated my phone to IOS 5.1 but no difference. Please help with this issue. Thanks

I had the problem a few times. I had a faulty toggle switch (between vibrate and sound). I took it into the apple store, and I was covered under apple care. I walked out with a new phone, free of charge.

My iPad doesn't ring, when I get a FaceTime call. How do I turn on the ringer,...???

This is very easy to resolve in 3 easy steps. goto
    1. settings
    2. general
    3. where it says 'Use Side switch to'  you will see two choices
    a) Lock rotation
    b) Mute
Mute will be ticked if you are not getting a ringtone when someone calls you on Facetime
    Simply Click on 'Lock Rotation'
Lock Rotation will now be ticked
    Mute will be unticked.
Facetime calls will now ring your iPad2

Thanks so much but none of that helped.  It was driving me crazy because it would back up another external drive.  I just changed the name of the drive from iPhoto/iTunes Library to Media Libraries and IT WORKED!! I guess for some reason it didn't like the drive being called iPhoto or iTunes ???? I don't understand but I have tried so many solutions and exchanging things out but the name change did it????!!!
Thank you for your help and replying to this.  Guess I made my own issue!

  • I have a IPhone 5 and Iphone 5s. Both are set up with the same account ID and running IOS 8.0.2. When the phones are connected to the same Wifi at home, both phones will ring when someone call in to one of the phone.  Anyway to solve this problem?

I have a IPhone 5 and Iphone 5s, each phone is activited with a different service provider. Both are set up with the same account ID and running IOS 8.0.2. When the phones are connected to the same Wifi at home, both phones will ring when someone call in to one of the phone.  Hence you do not know exactly which line the caller called.  If you answered using the wrong phone, then anyone calling the other number will not get through.  Anyway to solve this problem?

    Hey David Koh TP,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like your devices are set up to use continuity together. Specifically, it sounds like you are signed into the same Apple ID in FaceTime, and have iPhone Cellular Calls enabled. To resolve your issue, simply disable this setting:
Connect your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch using Continuity
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6337
    Turn off iPhone cellular calls
To turn off iPhone Cellular Calls on a device, go to Settings > FaceTime and turn off iPhone Cellular Calls.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • I gave my husband my I-phone 4s when I bought a 6.  his phone rings when someone calls me.  What do I do to stop this?

I gave my husband my I-phone 4s when I bought a 6.  his phone rings when someone calls me.  What do I do to stop this?

    Hi Mforesman,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  The article below will explain what steps to take when you give your iPhone to someone else.  Your carrier can help you transfer your husband's cell phone number to the iPhone 4S.
If your husband does not already have an Apple ID, you will need to create a new one for him, so that your contacts, calendars, notes, etc. in iCloud are separate from his.  Once he has his own Apple ID and telephone number, these will be linked on the iPhone 4S and he will no longer receive your telephone calls.

    What is an Apple ID?
An Apple ID is a user name you use for everything you do with Apple. Creating an account for an Apple service, such as the iTunes Store or the App Store, creates an Apple ID. Apple ID allows you to access other Apple services. You don't have to create a new account for each service—just use your Apple ID.
How do I get an Apple ID?
You may already have an Apple ID, and you only need one for everything you do with Apple. If you aren't sure, visit My Apple ID and click Find your Apple ID.
If you don't have an Apple ID, you can create one at My Apple ID. You can also create one by signing up for an Apple service (such as an iTunes Store or iCloud). You should use your primary email address as your Apple ID.
iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201349
Your iPhone telephone number is linked to your Apple ID when you sign in to FaceTime or iMessage. This allows you to use your iPhone number with FaceTime and iMessage on other iOS devices.
This feature isn't available on iPod touch (3rd generation) and iPad (1st generation).
This feature is available with OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 or later.
You can sign in to your Apple ID on an iPhone by tapping Settings > FaceTime and Settings > Messages > Send & Receive.
On iOS devices, find out which addresses are enabled with FaceTime and iMessage by tapping:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You can be reached by iMessage at:
Settings > FaceTime > You can be reached by FaceTime at:

  • My IPhone4 doesn't ring when people call me, but rings for alerts, texts, calendars..etc.  What's wrong?? Also, it plays music through the speaker too....

My IPhone does not ring when someone calls me.  This started happening a few days ago.  It will ring if I get a text message or an alert of some sort but it just won't ring when someone calls me.  It vibrates, just doesnt ring...Why is that?

  • After upgrading to iOS7 I lost all sound for my 4S except for the ring when someone calls. I can't listen to music, I don't get text or email notifications. I have tried rebooting?

Following upgrading to iOS7 I lost all sound for my 4s except for the ring when someone calls. I can't listen to music, I don't get text or email notifications. I have tried a wipe and reinstall, I've tried hard rebooting, I tried erasing all of my music and reinstalling it, I checked my Do Not Disturb, and I tried the AssistiveTouch mute button. Nothing. I can't even play music through bluetooth or headphones. Can anyone help please as its driving me mad!

I experience this problem too. I am using iPhone4 and just upgrade it to iOS7. And now I can not make outgoing call. I checked all the setting, and nothing wrong. I even replaced my sim card with the new one, still can not help.

    How can I fix this?

It might be a good idea to reset network settings & reboot your modem:
Open Settings->General->Reset->Reset Network settings.  You will have to enter your wifi passwords again.
Also go to Settings->Safari->Clear History & a Website data.

  • Swatches saved to library changing when used in another file. Any idea why?

    Hello,
I have saved a couple of swatches by applying the colors to squares, then saving them to the library and afterwards loading them in another file. One of the squares changes color when imported onto stage. In the library preview it looks ok.
Any idea why and how to solve this?

    Hi Parth,
I saw the option in the maintenance screen of the datasource "Delivery of Duplicate Data Recs"; it was set to Undefined but following your guide, I changed it to "Allowed" and activated the datasource.
Remember the problem was not with the datasource, I was able to execute the infopackage to get the data in the PSA. It is when I try to take it from the PSA to the DSO with the DTP that is where I get the error.
Does't is mean that everything is ok with the datasource?
Any way, after changing to "Allowed", I deleted the load in the PSA and reloaded.
The data now looks good in PSA as before.
Now, a load to the DSO, by executing the DTP gives same error message.
    Any more hints?

  • Re: Help please!! ipad do not rings when someone...

How to set the notification is the way to go, but this does not work on my ipad 3thd generation with ios 10.1.2.
I did go to apple and everything is set correctly and skype does not make the ipad ring.
So the problem is with Skype and Microsoft.
So there there is no solution unless microsoft make it.
Skype is continuouly less convenient to use.
Microsoft is expert to take something working well and complicate it so much that  there is always a bug. Then  they make sure to create a communtity to tak about it but they do not solve the problem. They think the problem is in the user when they are creating problems.

    Hi, Mikros,

How do I receive calls and instant messages in Skype for iPad?
You only need to be signed in to Skype on your iPad to receive Skype calls and instant messages.
You can have Skype running in the background and receive calls and instant messages, while you have other applications open.
If you don’t hear the Skype call ringtone when your friends are calling or instant messaging you, simply enable the Skype notifications:
In your iPad’s main menu, go to Settings.
Tap Notifications > Skype and set Sounds to ON.
If you’re signed in to Skype on your iPad and on your desktop computer at the same time, both of them will ring when you receive an incoming call.
You can also receive incoming calls to your Skype Number. The Skype Number will allow people to call you on Skype, even if they’re not on Skype themselves. You can set up Skype Number from your Skype account.
My iPad is on OS 7.0.4, and I confirmed the above settings before copying and pasting here.  If you are still on an older version of the iPad OS, check your audio settings in the Settings -> General or Sounds tab.
    Kind regards,
    Elaine
