My ipad drop in water

my ipad drop in water need help.

I doubt very much that the Apple techs will do anything other than tell Bancie that s/he needs to pay for a replacement. After an hour in the water (as stated in his/her other thread) the iPad is almost certainly damaged, and the Apple Stores will not disassemble and try to repair a water-damaged iPad, they'll just replace it for their standard charge.
Keeping the iPad from drying out it also just going to increase the chances of corrosion, so I see little benefit in taking steps to keep it wet.
Regards.

If you have a backup, you can retrieve the camera roll pictures, app data and some other items. This will explain what is contained in the backup.

  • Original iPad mini had water damage, then sat around for 8 months.

I have an iPad mini with water damage that has been sitting around for 8 months.
I woke up in the middle of the night and spilled water on it. It was plugged in and in an Otterbox. I unplugged it, took it out of the case, and dried it off. I then put it back in the case, plugged it in, and went back to bed.
When I awoke, it was no longer working. I can't remember anymore details than that, so I have no idea what was the ultimate killer of it. I tried putting it in a bag of rice, but it didn't work. What I want to know is how much would it cost to fix it, if It can be fixed. If not, what would you all do? I loved this thing to death and kept hoping it would come back, but it hasn't.

You can make a Genius Bar appointment at your nearest Apple Store and do an out-of-warranty replacement for $199 or you can buy a new one.

  • My PowerShot SX170 was dropped in water

I have a PowerShot SX170 IS. It was dropped in water for 4-5 seconds, but it didn't go all the way under and the lens was above water. It was off, and I immediatly took it out, took the battery and sd card out. I put it in a bowl or rice for 28-30 hours. I recently took it out and put the battery (fully charged) back in and turned it on, but it wouldn't work. Is there anything at all I can do to save it?

It really does depend what water he dropped it in!
Sea is salty, salt  conducts electricity, my thinking here if it got onto the circuit board or any electrical contact it could cause a leak, a resistive leak - not a water leak.  Maybe a few 100K ohms or less, this would be enough to upset the apple cart and cause digital circuits to 'latch up'.
Salty water can eat away the protective  lacquer on the circuit boards then eat away the fine copper tracks, it would cause severe contamination to them.
Also water can ingress by capillery action.
Apart from what has been suggested to letting it dry out the only option would be to send it in for repair, then there's the question is it worth it.

  • Problems after phones dropped in water.

lately my phones dropped in water for 30 mins long, after i noticed i immediately bring that to service center for repair but after repair my phones not working properly like before.the problem is bluetooth an error comes "Unable to perform Bluetooth operation" then wifi error "System error" i also cant restore the back-up and application settings from my MMC.
what can i do now?is there any way that i can fix my phone specially my MMC for back-up?

Then you will slowly encounter more and more problems with your phone as the electronics corrode. The issue with the memory card is probably due to card reader or mainboard. The service centre will have to check to see which it is and replace as necessary.
Another option would be to try to restore the backup using Ovi Suite. You will need to transfer the backup from the memory card to your pc first and try it from there. This way you bypass the card reader.

  • LG Ally and One Drop of Water

My wife was using her new LG Ally phone (4 days old). She apparently had a drop of water on her finger and when she switched open the keyboard the phone went dead. We tried charging it and it came on but only had 4% charge.
We took it to a store and they said it had water damage. We thought that was crazy but after looking at the phone we realized that when you open the keypad your fingers are right over the connection of the battery to the phone. So one drop of water is all it took (crazy but true).
We let the phone sit for a day and a half while we contacted support. They basically said we were screwed (in a polite way) and that we would have to buy a new phone at full price. They did, however, tell us a canned story about dropping it in the toilet and putting it in rice to dry it out. That made me think I should try charging it again. And this time (a day and a half later) it seems to be charging normally. We didn't put it in rice (but we are talking about a drop of water) but I'll probably do that as well just to be on the safe side. Support also asked if we had the phone in the bathroom while taking a shower which makes me think that this phone (all smart phones?) is very sensitive to moisture in the air.
When we got the phone I looked into getting a cover for it. I found some plastic back covers but I didn't understand why you would want that. But after this I'm thinking that it is needed to keep water away from the battery.
Just FYI. I'd never try to use this phone on a rainy day.

Is it working OK now? Did your indicators turn pink? By the battery, where it should be red X's, it turns pink when it gets wet. If that happens, Verizon will not replace it under the manufacturer's warranty, but I believe Assurion does if you have insurance (which you can still add if it's within 30 days).
Yes, smart phones are definitely more sensitive to moisture. I don't even take mine into the bathroom with me while showering. And ever since I got caught in a rainstorm at a concert, I put my phone in a Ziploc bag if I'm in an outdoor situation where that could happen.
If it ever gets wet, immediately shut it off and pull out the battery. Place the phone and battery separately in a bag of uncooked rice for 1-2 days before even attempting to turn it on. (That's for, say, dropping it in a glass of beer ... a drop is probably OK.) I know it's hard to wait that long, but turning it on and charging are the worst things you can do. The moisture can corrode the battery and insides of the phone when the battery is connected. (Some people suggest using a hair dryer to blow out the water, but I would not do that ... the heat can ruin it, and the air can blow the water farther into the phone.)
I hope it's working and all is well! Thanks for giving others the heads-up.

I have an iPhone 3GS that I dropped in water for a moment. After drying it and everything, it still does everything but get service. Can I back it up and transfer its data to a new iPhone 3GS? I heard something about how loading a backup from a water damaged phone could mess up the new one... is this true? I would truly appreciate the help, please let me know, thanks!

Sounds like your phone is in recovery mode.  In this case, all data on it is gone.  There's nothing to back up.

  • Does it bring any harm or damage to the iphone 4s if let say there is a drop of water drop onto the iphone 4s RECEIVER??

does it bring any harm or damage to the iphone 4s if let say there is a drop of water drop onto the iphone 4s RECEIVER??

Water and electronics are a bad combination. I've seen phones get a few drops of water on them and never work right again. Mind you, I've also seen phones (old flip phones) go through both washer and dryer and continue to work for years.
Does your phone still work? Are you experiencing any problems? If the answer to both of those questions is no, you should be okay.

  • My ipad drops wifi any suggestions?

My ipad drops my wireless connection, this does not happen to other I devices in the house including other ipads.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
