My iPad froze during the latest update,

I've tried to reset it and turn it off but it just keeps coming back to the same screeen with the cable and the iTunes logo. I backed it up immediately before updating but I can't get my laptop to recognize the device

The iTunes icon and cable means that it's gone into recovery mode. If your computer's iTunes isn't recognising the iPad so that you can reset it back to factory defaults and restore to your back then try the troubleshooting on one of these pages :

  • My Ipad 2 (after the latest update) now runs out of battery every day....and I am not on it very much. I have tried turning it off and on again...no better.

My Ipad 2 (after the latest update) is burning through battery...even when I am NOT on the Ipad2....I have turned it off and on again....no difference...what else can I try...seems like I live with it pluged into power.

recalibrate the battery, let the device run out of battery to where it shuts off and then fully charge it without using it.

  • I updated my iPad 4 to the latest update...7.0.4...and now it says not charging when plugged in.

My iPad charger worked fine before I updated to the latest version. The only change was that I updated to 7.0.4. The reason I know this is because I had to plug it in to do the update. It will charge a little bit overnight but very slowly. 28% to 69% in about 6 1/2 hours. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

Follow these steps if you receive an error or alert message when attempting to update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iTunes.
Using these steps, you can resolve most restore errors on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch:
Install the latest version of iTunes.
Verify that your computer operating system is up to date. If an update requires a restart, check for updates again after restarting.
On a Mac: In the Apple () menu, choose Software Update. Install all available updates.
On a Windows PC: Go to the Microsoft Windows Update page.
Check your security software: Note: Most restore issues are caused by out-of-date or incorrectly configured security software, firewalls, and network router settings or firmware.
Isolate the issue to third-party software.
    Update security software.
    Properly configure your security software.
Temporarily disable or uninstall your security software.
Temporarily remove any unnecessary USB devices, leaving only your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, the USB cable that came with your device, and a keyboard and mouse, if necessary.
Restart your computer and try again.
    Hope this helps ...

  • IPad Froze During iOS 6 Update

I went to update my "The New iPad" today(3rd gen) as iOS 6 was released. It downloaded fine, rebooted and filled up the progress bar, then restarted again. After the second restart, the loading bar came up once again, but after sitting there for 30 minutes it hasn't made any progress and remains empty. Do I have a bricked iPad on my hands? Anyone have any ideas of how to fix it(preferably without losing data?)
    Thanks!

Same here... Almost an hour.  I'll be okay as long as it actually finishes, but as anyone with an iPhone knows, it ***** having to go this long without being able to use it!  At least there's iMessage on the MBP.

  • Ipad froze during latest update

during the latest update my ipad froze at the screen with the apple, how can i reboot

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iPad froze during latest update.

I Have an iPad 3, 128 gb, less than 6 months old. I was installing the latest update and it froze with the white Apple logo on the black screen and the download
bar 1/4 of the way finished. I have no response from the power button or the reset button. Any suggestions?

You've tried a soft-reset, pressing and holding both the home and sleep buttons for 10 to 15 seconds ?
If that doesn't work then try recovery mode and then restore to your backup : If you can't update or restore your iOS device

I accidently unplugged my I-pad 2 from my computer during the latest software update and my screen is stuck on the "apple with update bar."
    Suggestions?

Try and force the iPad into Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.
