My iPad froze during upgrade

My iPad froze while upgrading to iOS8. It's two years old, but still qualified for the upgrade. The entire upgrade happened. The iPad then shut down and restarted. The black apple on the white screen came up along with a progress bar. The bar kept loading until to it was over 95% done. It stopped and has been that way for almost an hour. What can I do? Should I just turn it off and start it again?
Thanks!
Pat

I would wait onager to see if the upadate completes. if it remains stuck try a reset of the iPad. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the buttons and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

  • Ipad froze during latest update

during the latest update my ipad froze at the screen with the apple, how can i reboot

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IOS 7 on my 4th gen IPad froze during update.

I was asked after the reboot during the install if I would like to add security questions. I chose not now and hit next, nothing. IPad not responding to touch, home button just gives me a pop up that says IPad is not upgraded. Power button dross nothing as well.
I'm in limbo as I can't revert, or continue. Please help!

Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
    3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button.
    5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad. Data will be lost.

  • Laptop froze during upgrade

I have an IBM Thinkpad a31. I just ran -Syu, and the screen froze while updating. It happened after all the files had been downloaded, and the system was upgrading the files. I couldn't get a terminal to open with ctrl/alt f1, so I shut it down. After rebooting and several fsck's, I have a mouse arrow but no WM, and ctrl/alt #f1 just shows a flashing cursor,  no bash session.

I was using gnome as a window manager. I say "was" because the system wound up being so trashed that I decided to install another operating system. I've had some issues with this laptop and decided to see if it was the laptop, the operating system or me that was causing my problems. I just finished putting Fedora #15 LXDE, because Fedora #15 wouldn't load...and I wanted to see how network manager works on Fedora, as I couldn't get my wireless to work with Arch when I took the laptop on the road.
I've always read that you don't want the system to crash during an upgrade. I can vouch for that, now!  This is what I call a "big" upgrade, looks like the whole desktop gets a fresh install. I had downloaded all the files, and pacman was somewhere between half and three-quarters through the install/upgrade portion of things.  I had upgraded my PC earlier, without a problem, so I think the laptop just got overloaded and crashed. It fought me tooth and nail when I tried to install Fedora.
If this works, I might try going with Arch LXDE, later.

  • My iPad froze during latest update.

I Have an iPad 3, 128 gb, less than 6 months old. I was installing the latest update and it froze with the white Apple logo on the black screen and the download
bar 1/4 of the way finished. I have no response from the power button or the reset button. Any suggestions?

You've tried a soft-reset, pressing and holding both the home and sleep buttons for 10 to 15 seconds ?
If that doesn't work then try recovery mode and then restore to your backup : If you can't update or restore your iOS device

  • IPad Froze During iOS 6 Update

I went to update my "The New iPad" today(3rd gen) as iOS 6 was released. It downloaded fine, rebooted and filled up the progress bar, then restarted again. After the second restart, the loading bar came up once again, but after sitting there for 30 minutes it hasn't made any progress and remains empty. Do I have a bricked iPad on my hands? Anyone have any ideas of how to fix it(preferably without losing data?)
    Thanks!

Same here... Almost an hour.  I'll be okay as long as it actually finishes, but as anyone with an iPhone knows, it ***** having to go this long without being able to use it!  At least there's iMessage on the MBP.

  • My iPad froze during the latest update,

I've tried to reset it and turn it off but it just keeps coming back to the same screeen with the cable and the iTunes logo. I backed it up immediately before updating but I can't get my laptop to recognize the device

The iTunes icon and cable means that it's gone into recovery mode. If your computer's iTunes isn't recognising the iPad so that you can reset it back to factory defaults and restore to your back then try the troubleshooting on one of these pages :
PC : iPhone, iPad, or iPod not recognized in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support

  • My ipad froze while updating cant turn off, any suggestions

my ipad froze during update. cant turn off. any suggestions?

If you're sure that the update isn't still happening then have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I Don't know that recovery mode would work, but did you try it?
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
IF that fails, have you considered erasing the device using Find my iPhone in iCloud.com? I'm not sure what good that would do either of the iPad continues to freeze, but if nothing else is working .....
