My iPad is disabled, ITunes did not work, i erased, still disabled.

My iPad is disabled, with many attempts of trying to connect it to itunes it did not work. I decided to log in icloud and erase the iPad since i had no important things in it, but that also didn't work. It's still disabled. HELP PLEASE!

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary.

Without a backup, the use of iTunes or the use of iCloud, your only choice is to restore the device as new to remove the passcode.

  • HT1212 I tried doing  the itunes method to unlock my iphone 4 but i did not work, help!

I did it & did not work i'm still locked out. what can i do to try to unlock it now??

I'm sorry, the only time that you have to restore as new is if you are trying to restore because of a forgotten restrictions code, or if you have never synced the phone via iTunes before. Read the support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212 and makes no reference to not using a backup if you have synced the phone in the past.

  • I have the newest version of iTunes, and I cann open iTunes but I can't open the iTunes store, I click on it and then it says "iTunes is not working. Windows is checking for a solution" and then it closes.

    Please help.
    I can't buy anything!!!!!!

This happened to me after the last iTunes upgrade.  The solution for my problem was to completely uninstall and reinstall my security software PC Tools Spyware Doctor with Antivirus) Just disabling it did not work.
There are however a lot of different fixes on other old threads.

  • I've tried so many things but itunes is not working

I tried to install itunes 5 last monday but it did not install successfully and I encountered many of the error messages people have already detailed. (I'll know next time to check these boards before faithfully clicking on the download button - I could have saved myself so much hassle!)
I followed the instructions in Dimitry's post - uninstalled bonjour/quicktime etc and then managed to do a system restore. The system restore went ok and itunes seemed to be working but it made the computer run incredibly slow and messed up the 'Ahead Nero- Burning Rom' program.
On saturday, we ran a defrag to see if that would speed up the computer - that took nearly 7 hours to run! I then did another system restore which has made the computer run properly. But itunes did not work, so I tried to reinstall it from the disk that came with the ipod. It gets to the end of the installation and says that a newer version is stored on the computer and so cannot install.
I then picked up a download for itunes 4.9 from one of these threads and tried to install that version, but again get the same message that there's a newer version on the computer so cannot install.
I think I have itunes 4.8 on the computer, but when i try and open it, I get a message that itunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing and i need to reinstall itunes! (I don't think quicktime is installed correctly on the computer either as i get an error message - is the standalone download on the apple site safe to use?)
I think i need to completely uninstall itunes and then reinstall it, but i'm scared of losing all my music. I cannot back my music up as the burning-rom program is not working - i tried reinstalling it, but i need to enter a serial number to complete the installation, but i don't have one as it all came in the bundle with the computer.
    Any advice greatfully received!

    Hi B
I meticulously followed the instructions but I still haven't been able to completely uninstall itunes and the ipod.
When I right-click on the bin folder in the ipod folder in program files and then choose delete, I get the following message:
"Cannot delete iPodServiceLocalized.dll: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is currently not in use."
When I right-click on the Quicktime folder in program files, I get the following message:
"Cannot delete QTTASK.EXE: Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is currently not in use."
When i open the windows installer cleanup tool I cannot see itunes/ipod/quicktime in the list.
I suspect this is something to do with administrator rights? How do I log in as an administrator? Only me and my husband use the computer, but we don't log in under any different IDs or anything, we just switch it on and start using it?!
I tried installing 4.9 from one of the other threads anyway, but I still get the message that a newer version of itunes is installed so it cannot continue. The itunes in the ipod program file shows as 4.8.0.
Look forward to your advice again.
    Thanks, Amanda.

What if you have a situation where Restore did not work. I do. The ipad mini says it is disabled, connect to itunes. When connected, it says that it is locked! I have tried using Recovery/Restore but after it completed, the ipad mini still malfunctions. It does not allow you to start the device. The slide image keeps dancing around the screen. The opening page keeps changing in size and the keyboard types on its own! What can be done to fix this????????

Maybe a reset would help, to be followed by trying the recovery again.
To reset, hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.  Then do the recovery.
If this doesn't solve it, I recommend visiting an Authorized Apple Service Center.

  • HT1212 I just updated my Ipad 2 to IOS7, now it is asking me for a passcode. I never set a passcode on my Ipad, so how can I enter a passcode. I tried using the OIS7 passcode I use on my Iphone  and it did not work and now my Ipad is disabled

I just updated my Ipad 2 to IOS 7, now it is asking me for a passcode. I never set a passcode on my Ipad, so how can I enter a passcode. Earlier today I upgraded my Iphone 5 to IOS 7 and it asked me to set a passcode, which now works fine on my Phone. I  tried using the OIS7 passcode I use on my Iphone 5 and it did not work and now my Ipad is disabled. Both devices are on icloud and share the same apple id. The Ipad screen says slide to set up but then there is a prompt for passcode, not for setting up passcode

I called Apple Support and a supervisor helped resolve this for me on my iPad. I suggest calling them for help as this is obviously an issue with the iOS 7 update - she helped me without charge. I could be missing something in my upcoming description, so do not take this as complete - call them.
I had to update iTunes on my Mac Air to the latest version, and I had an iCloud backup from the day I updated to iOS7. Have iTunes open but do NOT connect your iPad yet. Shut down the iPad. Then press/hold the Home key on the iPad while you connect the USB from the iPad to the computer (an image of the USB cable appeared on the iPad). Follow the prompts in iTunes to restore and then backup using iCloud. When the iPad rebooted again to do the backup install, I got the same pass code issue and iTunes would not recognize the iPad without entering a pass code. I disconnected the iPad, turned it off, pressed the Home key while connecting the USB cable. When I did the restore and backup from iCloud the second time, it worked without the pass code issue occurring.

Are you saying that you contacted Apple support and they instructed you to backup and restore your iPad? Or do you mean that you picked up this information from an online support article? If you spoke to an Apple rep or received these instructions via email, contact them again for further help.
I fail to see how restoring your iPad would enable yoyr Apple ID.

  • Why the iPad became blank black when I syn with itunes and it did not work again?

Why the ipad became blank black when I syn it with itunes of the desk top.  It did not work since then.

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
