My iPad is dumping email

My iPad dumps my email (ie, they seem deleted) at seemingly random intervals, and then reloads itself. (iPad 1, 4.3.3) I have had this problem for some time, not just since upgrading to 4.3.3. I also have the same problem with email on my iPhone (iPhone 4, running 4.3.2). Naturally I never know when it's going to dump so I can't see exactly how much it dumps, but it's about 1 week; older emails are still there, just the last week or so disappear. It reloads itself no problem and then is fine.
Both are only having the email issue with my corporate Exchange (2003) account, which leads me to think that it's an issue with ActiveSync. I also use Entourage 2008 (12.2.9) on my MBP; it does not have the same problem. No apparent issue with contacts (also sync with Exchange), but appointments sometimes disappear from Calendar (again only my Exchange linked calendars).

It sounds like you sync ota with your iPad and iPhone, is that correct? If so I know I've seen some funky things happen with multiple clients connecting to a single Exchange mailbox. Just a thought, for testing how about disabling Entourage? On A Windows XP machine, for example, the Outlook client caches messages in a cache file and these cached items get out of date. I'm not sure if Entourage works the same way or not, but my thought would be to start by disabling Entourage temporarily and see if the problem is there. I always tell users that they increase the likelihood of consistency errors significantly for each additional client they have running against a single mailbox.

You can edit keyboard shortcuts in Settings>General>Keyboard>Shortcuts>Edit.

I'm trying to not personalize this too much, but it's grandkids talking to Grandma and Mom and Dad trying to solve new machine hiccups. Normally, I could just go in via iChat and control the other machine and troubleshoot, but I can't do it with Facetime only. My buddy list doesn't see the other computer even though we are connected on Facetime right now. My name is not highlighted for the other computer. What could have gone so wrong?

Try sending them via the Messages app as opposed to E-mail.
E-mail shouldn't normally be a problem, but Messages will do as a soloution.
To do so:
. You need iOS 5
1. Go to your Photo Gallery
2. Open up the album/ images you want to send
3. Press the share button (top right hand corner)
4. Select 'Send as Message' (not e- mail)
5. Select your friends Apple ID from your address book for his iPad
6. Voila!
- it's something along those lines...... my iPad is downstairs atm, but the actual way of doing it will be similar...... !

After upgrading to IOS 7.0.3 the problems gone.
There is no mention of this being a bug or a fix so im thinking a software glitch was the issue.
When I look at a message in my inbox and it says "To: JB Manz" - I click my name and it shows my contact info including my 4 email addresses and the address the message was addressed to is highlighted blue, others all black.

I found some resources that I think might help with the visibility of your IMAP email folders on your iPad and Mac.
On your iPad, you may need to follow the steps in this article to make sure your folders are visible:

On your Mac, I am not sure if you have the sidebar enabled, but you can enable it using the steps in the article below. When this is showing, you should see your email account listed near the bottom with a triangle next to it. When the triangle is pointing down, it should show your folders:

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

You can use your gmail account within the native Mail app using IMAP
Make sure you've enabled IMAP in your main Gmail settings
Open the Settings app on your device
Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars
Tap Add Account...
Tap Gmail
Enter your account information, being sure to use your full Gmail address, including '@gmail.com'
Tap Next
Tap Save

If the Reset Ian mentioned doesn't work...
Shut down and restart the Mail app...
- From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
- Tap and hold any icon in this list until they wiggle
- Press the red to delete the Mail app from this list.
- Press the home button twice when done.
- Restart the Mail app

Hi yes that works well when the new ipad hasn't been used. Trouble new one has been used for two months or more, has lots photos email etc etc. I am worried that these will go. When we did iPhone thru same process finished up with two of most things pics and emails. The emails alone were over 2 thousand and wife reluctant to delete them all. I would and just sort pics. Any other ideas

Uhhhhh... Thank GOD... Got all of my files.
Spent some time on the phone with Apple Care... who was great to deal with but actually... not as helpful as I was hoping. It was suggested that I try DiskWarrior 4 to try to recover the files. $108 later, I had no files.
More calls with Apple Care and they were pretty sure that everything was gone since once the External drive was installed, like a moron, I let TimeMachine go ahead and back up my new MacBook... so it overwrote who knows how many gig that was my entire MacBook.
I wasn't giving up so I called Maxtor, the manufacturer of the external drive itself. They suggested file recovery software from I365... which is also a Seagate company (the makers of the drive). The suggested I simply use their demo because the demo version would find the files. If it found them, I could buy the software to restore them.
It found them! Another $129 after and I was able to restore all of them back to my old PC laptop.
NOW, I just need to figure out how to get the 50gig of HD video files off of my old laptop now and into my Mac and IMovie so I can actually make some DVDs out of them!
I get that Macs and PCs are different formats but I think it is ridiculous that formatting still means basically just wiping out or at least treating massive lots of old data as if it isn't there. There's gotta be a better way to do that.
