My ipad is frozen on safari

My new IPAD2 is frozen while using Safari.
Any suggestions?

If the YouTube app freezes entirely - meaning that the controls will not work - you get no response from the play button or the done button - this might work for you.
You could try quitting open apps to see if that helps. Double tap the home button to bring up the task bar, hold down on any app icon until the icons begin to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the corner of the icons to close the apps. If you have a bunch of apps in the task bar, close them all. Then tap the screen (outside of the task bar) to close the task bar. Restart the iPad. Hold down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and slide to turn off. Hold down on the sleep button until the Apple logo appears to restart.
If the videos in YouTube will start and then stop while you are playing them, but you can start them again successfully, that sounds more like a slow Internet connection causing the videos to not load fast enough.

  • My iPad has frozen in Safari  & is showing a pop-up - what can i do?

I just went  into Safari  & got  this window + a pop up that says it is from"http://www.prizegiveaway.org" & I should click on "OK" to claim  the iPhone 4s i just won (yeah, sure)
but I can't move to any other window, or to any  of my bookmarks. I've tried closing down & restarting but it is still there.
Mail, facebook etc are still working
    any ideas??

Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data (Clear Cache on iOS 4) and also Clear History (you might also want to turn off pop-ups to try and stop it happening again)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

    Hi Demo,
Yes, I have not made myself clear, I apologise.
I have tried downloading apps from itunes in order to set up a game for my son, when I go to click on a link, be this in itunes, or on the web, Safari revolts back informing the address is invalid. I read by coping a link and pasting into the URL, this would do it, but not so.
My goal then, is to install Minecraft for my son, I would then download an app to allow this but I am unable to get this far due to Safari insulting the address I ask it to go to
    The iPad is first generation
OS 5.1.1 Software up to date.
Thank you in advance for your time

So what I have gleemed from this thread - is that Apple will not help me if an iPad mini is dropped and the screen breaks.  I would have lived without the insurance if I could have simply bought a new screen and then had it replaced by Apple.
On something so fragile I would have expected a piece of glass to be a replacement part. But I am glad I made this post because now I no for sure if I break the screen there is no way to have it fixed by Apple and keep it in Warranty.
Yup, kind of like anything else you accidentally break that is more cost effective to replace than to repair. Keep that iPad away from the toddler

  • Ipad mini retina display safari crashed with ios 8.0.2

After updating my daughters iPad Mini retina display, safari crashes as soon as anything is entered in the search box. This started after IOS 8.0.2 update.
I have rebooted and reset the iPad. I have cleared the history and website data, but nothing has helped.

    Try some basic troubleshooting:
    (A) Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    (B) Try reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
    (C) Setup as new (data will be lost if you do not have backup)
    Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings

  • My iPad s frozen with only iTunes icon and usb cable showing and cannot access anyhting. Can anyone help? - Apple won't

Since receiving a iOS software update (6.1.2) my iPad has frozen and only the iTunes icon and a usb cable show on screen. I am unable to access any App. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction. this was raised with Apple and ticket number advised on 3rd March but not a word from Apple since.
    Thank you

Try and turn off iPad/iPod and proceed to step 3 of Recovery Mode.
    Recovery Mode
    1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
    2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

  • Can I stop ipad from flipping to Safari every time I click a link in an email? I like to open everything first and then go through my Safari tabs.

is there anyway I can stop my ipad from flipping to Safari every time I click on a link in an email. I would like to be able to go through all my email and then go to Safari and go through the tabs that have been opened. Currently I click an email, Safari opens, I go back to mail, delete said email, read the next email, repeat.

No. If you simply click on a hyperlink in pretty much anything, Safari will open since it is the default browser. The only option you have is tap and hold on the link, and then select Add to reading list. It will then be stored int eh reading list in Safari.

  • My ipad is frozen with a black screen with a picture of a cord leading to the itunes logo.i tried to shut it down and the app;e icon comes out but again the cord leading to the itunes icon keeps on coming out. what should i do ?

I hope you have a backup if you don't want to lose your iPad contents. You have to restore the iPad now using iTunes on your computer. That's what the message on the screen means.
    Take a look at this.

  • My ipad is stuck on safari

my ipad is stuck on safari only

If pressing the home button does nothing, try powering the iPad off and on and/or do a reset, which is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release. A reset is similar to a computer restart.

  • My iPad is frozen with a white rotating circle in the center. How do make the circle stop rotating?

My iPad is frozen with a white rotating circle in the center.  How do I unfreeze it?

OK if I understand whats going on.
You have to restore your ipad.
If you backed it up prior to this problem you may not loose everything.
I can tell you how to restore it.
Hold the on/off button and the home button at the same time until the device turns off.
Once the device has turned off without letting go of the home button release the power button and keep holding until the connect to itunes logo appears.
It should be rather obvious now that you have to connect your iPad to the computer.
iTunes on your computer should open automatically if it doesn't open it.
on the side bar of iTunes your ipad should appear.
    Click on it.
Then in the centre of the window there should be a restore and/or  restore and update button.
    Click restore.
the rest of the instructions should appear on the screen.
    Assuming the restore was successful.
Leave the iPad plugged in and If you backed up the iPad before it stopped working then you should see a restore from back up there if not you may have to start from scratch.
