I take a lot of photos and all my devices (iPad, iPhone, and MacBook Pro) have little storage left. Am I correct in thinking that "Imported Photos" are the ones I have downloaded from my camera's memory card and "Photo Stream" are the photos shared among all my devices? Can I disable Photo Stream without deleting the photos that I've downloaded (imported) from the memory card and in the future just import from the memory card to the device of my choice? It's the redundancy that's eating up all my storage space.

You can disable PhotoStream but that will not help much with your storage problems. What you need to do is backup photos from your iPad to a computer or other location and then delete the photos from your iPad.

If it's not on your computer, you can still view it on the AppleTV under TV Shows - Purchased. It will stream from the cloud to your AppleTV.

You can press and hold a film or tv show on the selection screen in the Videos app and after a second or two you should get an 'x' on its top left corner, tap that and it should be deleted. Have you got copies of them on your computer's iTunes (File > Transfer Purchases) ? Films and TV shows can't currently be re-downloaded in all countries, and even where they can be there is no guarantee that they will remain in the store for future re-downloading.

You should be able to copy the apps (and any other iTunes purchases) over to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. And as long as apps remain available in the store, and you use the same iTunes account as you originally used to purchase them, you should be able to re-download them in the future : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
If you are already on iOS 5+ on your iPad then you should be able to update the iPad directly on the iPad via Settings > General > Software Update .

Hi - I have had iCloud photos turned on for about 2 weeks. My old iPhoto library of around 22k pics uploaded no problem. My issues are with now viewing them on my iPhone and iPad, which are set to optimise storage.
On the iPad I used to have a folder of about 1200 pics which I'd use as a photo frame by chucking on as a slideshow on my desk at work. I don't connect to the wifi there. Since iCloud photo I can't do this, as the pics are mostly low res, if there at all (two weeks after upload the vast majority of my library appears as just a sea of grey squares on both i-devices - thumbnails have not appeared for huge swathes of the library at all. Is this going to right itself?). I read about using Favourites to ensure local full res copies are kept, so I've gone through and favourited each pic (no option to do this in bulk on the iPad?) and this has ensured at least that each pic of those selected have thumbnails now, but no guarantee that the full image will display. Even when I run the slideshow connected to wifi the low-res pixelated placeholder is what's displayed for most of the time the image is on the screen. And if Favourites is the way to force local hi-res copies I still have no need for these to be also stored in full resolution on my iPhone.
Basically, I want a way to force folders to be available in full, offline, and specific to the device. Is this possible? Big step back for what I use this thing for if not.

Is there anything ornate in the frame images. Or are they more or less just made with strips of standard framing molding. If nothing fancy just molding then an action that uses patterns and a little bit of scripting can frame your images orientation does not matter a little scripting handles that. To scale you images to the proper size will take some scripting and the spread sheet exported to a CSV file containing filename width and height.
My crafting action package contains 12 scripts to be used in actions. Two of which would be very useful for your project. If you create you script to size the images so they have the correct print size. The framing of these would be easy. The action would first run two of my run twice scripts for action. The first scripts saves the documents current resolution so the action can change it to what it need the document to have for its framing patterns. The second script will rotate portrait images to landscape orientation. The action can the add the 1" frame. once the frame is in place the action the runs the two scripts again. The second time these action run they will restore thing. One will rotate the documents it rotated to landscape back to portraits and the other will restore the documents resolution. My image visualization package has framing actions and a script to make a 1" mitered selection to be filled with the framing pattern.

Ipad memory full of photos even after all photos deleted

Hi,
My daughters ipad is saying it is full of photos 10.24gb on a 16gb ipad.
I deleted all photos out of photo roll and used space went up a little!!!!!!!
i deleted all 3rd party apps not change!!!!
Restored ipad and reinstalled back up,problem still there.
i've read lots of post's about loading and deleting photos from pc but thats not worked either!!
could all the photos from instagram/message apps be hiding some where?
also a setting for HDR photo was set to save normal as well as HDR, so could these be hiding some where..
all help welcome as ipad is useless now as it say there is no space left on it to do anything really

Did you remember to empty the Trash? All deleted photos will be saved for 30 days in the "recently deleted" album. To delete the photo or video permanently before the days expire, select them in the Recently deleted album, tap the item, tap Delete, then tap Delete Photo or Delete Video.

IPad 2 full of video

In iTunes my iPad 2 shows it is almost completely full of video however, there are no movies, no tv shows, & no videos being stored on it. I cant update my apps when the memory is full of video that I cant even find. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks!

I had a similar situation some six monnths ago. In my case, there was a fixed 6G of phantom videos.
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work (and it probably won't), try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."

photos that were synced to the pad can only be deleted by re syncing. When you do the resync, on your computer running i tunes, select the photo tab, and uncheck anything you do not want put back on your pad.

Does the ipad preserve full resolution and exif data on imported photos?

And, yes, the full photo and it's info is stored/copied i.e. they are the same as on the memory card.

How do I troubleshoot sudden iPad "Memory Full" condition?

My 64GB iPad was only 60% full, now after turning on iCloud, it is suddenly 99.9% full. There's no way that I could have added 25+ GB of data to my iPad! I used to have over 900 songs and over 250 music videos at the 60% full level, now I only have 12 songs and 1 music video at 99.9%.
The same thing happened to my new 64GB iPhone 4S and my wife's 32GB iPhone 4 (which even froze up because the memory is supposedly full). This all started within a few weeks of upgrading to OS 5.1 and turning on iCloud. (Which I wrongly assumed would save memory and make my life easier!)

This should not be. In iTunes (on the MBP, iPad connected) when you see "other" having a large amount of GB's (more than 1 or 2 GB) there are a lot of "faulty things" on your iPad, restore from a somewhat older backup when connected to iTunes MBP..
But more probable you have a lot of "doubles" on your iPad, because there is something gone wrong with the first sync with iCloud: look in your iTunes Music Library (as well as in your iTunes Library in your computer). There are several threads on this forum for that issue.

My ipad storage is almost full. I have 4gb + of music I would like to put in cloud. I have purchased extra icloud storage but see no way to store the music there?! How do I manage the storage. My times newspaper app is also using 5 gb is that normal?

If you want to be able to play it on your iPad then yes, you will need the music stored on it. Does the Times newspaper app allow you to manually delete past editions.

iCloud is for backing up your data / documents / photos e.g. it's an alternative to backing up to a computer's iTunes. But iCloud doesn't include everything e.g. audiobooks and ringtones can't be redownloaded, and an iCloud backup doesn't include your own music (and any item could be removed from the store at any time, so restoring to an iCloud backup might not be able to restore eveything e.g. if an apphas been removed from the store then it won't be able to reinstall it and its contents)

Run on iPad at full resolution?

Are you able to run an app at full ipad res? I have created a 1024x768 app, runs in adl fine. When I install ipa on iPad it shows it in the iPhone 320x480 box which obviously crops the remaining content on screen.
Am I missing something?

How many hour need to recharge an ipad in full cycle

I bought a new ipad 2 and recharge first time after power running out, need 6 hours to complete a full charge. just fast charge to 100% spend 5 hours 35 mins. Then on the next time doing the same recharging the power. This time spent 7 hours 24 mins. Is it a normal processing ????

Are you using the iPad's AC charger or an iPhone charger?
The quickest way to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter. When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge, but only when it's in sleep mode. Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

IPad HDMI full screen?

Tried the BT Sport app for the first time tonight via HDMI to my TV and was disappointed to find that the picture appeared in the middle of the screen, surrounded by black bars. Just to be clear, I am using an iPad 4 with the digital av connector and have selected the full screen icon in the app.
I googled this issue and it seems that apps need to support full screen output, so why doesn't the BT sport app and will it be updated?
Or am I doing something wrong?

You are right - the App doesn't support full screen via HDMI. The best you can do is use your TVs zoom function to minimise the black bars.
I found that the iPhone app was slightly better, and fills the screen if you use 'Caption Zoom' on my Sony which cuts out the Clock/WiFi bar in Portrait mode.
I don't know which app gives the better picture however on a full size TV - they both had noticeable artifacts on the TV even when seemingly at best quality on the idevice screen. Not surprising as the app streams are not designed for TVs. I suspect plugging a laptop in via HDMI and running the Silverlight player full screen is a better bet.
BT don't want to make it too easy to display on a large screen TV - they would rather you took out a BT TV subscription you see!
