My iPad is mixing up photos between albums

Hey there
iPad2, iPhoto 11, 10.6.7
I'm syncing a bunch of smart albums from iPhoto to my iPad. The smart albums are based on events, with photos that are 5 star rankings.
Anyway, in iPhoto, they all work great. But when I load the albums on the iPad, they're about 90% right. 10% of all albums have photos mixed in from other albums. It's frustrating as **** - I want to show people my photos, but I can't because they're not in any order!
Help!
-- james

I got it - go to where your iPhoto library file is (typically
~/Pictures/iPhoto Library
Right click on the iPhoto Library, click Show Package Contents
DELETE the iPod Photo Cache
Next time you sync your device it will take a very long time (recreating the photo cache) but the photos should be correct

  • My iPhoto stopped letting me move photos between albums.

i used to be able to move the photos i uploaded to my iphoto between the different albums i have and now it wont let me. does anyone know why or how to fix it?

What version of iPhoto do you have?
as to moving photos between albums just open the source album and drag the photos to the destination album in the source pane on the left
And you do not "upload" photos - you import them - typically an import does not create an album - it creates an event - how are you importing your photos?

  • How to transfer photos between albums?

I am a new user, I loaded many old photos and want to move them into smaller albums,

Albums are just lists of picture files. They are similar to a playlist for audio files, which means you can include a given picture file in as many albums as you want. So, you don't 'move' files between albums, you add or delete those picture files. Let's say you have a big album you want to 'split' into smaller ones. First create the destination albums. Select your big album. Highlight the files you want to transfer to the small album, and drag and drop them on that small album. That will copy the files (add them) to the small album. If you want to delete them from the big album (it's your choice), right click and choose 'delete from album' and specify which album you want to delete from. Remember that pictures can be included in different albums and that 'moving'  files between albums is a bad metaphor. You add, you delete, you don't move.

  • Unable to move photos between albums in search mode

I am unable to move picture between albums when I have done a search for a title etc. eg. search for 'Leeds' brings up 20 pics one album and 15 in another, but the two albums are several years apart (possibly 100's of rolls!).
Why am I unable to then drag the pics from one roll to another? Is this a known issue? Very annoying when dealing with various project over various years and the only way is to drag the pics all the way down, often getting lost!!
    Any advice?
    Thanks

You may be able to do it as follows:
1 - assign a unique keyword to each of those files. Something like "AAAAAAAA" will stand out when you're looking for it.
2 -set the view options to View keywords only.
3 - set the sort option to sort by keyword.
4 - now look for that unique keyword, select them all and create a new roll. To see the new roll you'll have to reset rolls to be viewed.
If there are more than one keyword for those photos, the the first keyword assigned to that photo will determine where it falls in the listing of photos. So it's best if there are no keywords other than the unique one.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Moving Photos between Albums

When I drag a photo from Album 1 to Album 2, it copies the photo while leaving it in Album 1. Then I have to open Album 1 and delete the photo, so that it resides only in Album 2.
How can I move (not copy) a photo from Album 1 (delete it) to Album 2 ?

When I'm in an album and drag a photo to another album I'm still in the first album where I can then delete the photo when the drag is completed. Dragging a photo to another album in the Source pane does not put me in that second album. I have to click on the second album to get there. Not sure what you're experiencing. Here's what it looks like for me dragging from Album PDF to Profile test. I'll remain in the PDF album until I click on the other one.

  • Transferring photos between albums

I want to transfer photos to other albums on my Phone without having multiple copies of the photo

Photos in albums transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync/transfer process are stored in the Photo Library. Photos in the albums below include a pointer to original photos stored in the Photo Library. Photos in the albums are not duplicated as in taking double the storage capacity.
The same applies to photos in the Camera Roll that are placed in a user created album. If you delete the original photo stored in the Camera Roll, the photo in the album is removed as well. Photos in albums include a pointer only to the original photos stored in the Camera Roll.

  • IPad/Photostream mix up photo's

    Hi,
I want to present photo's of a reportage to a client using my iPad.
I have the series of pictures on my Macbook.
One serie in color and same serie, but converted to Black and White. The series are in seperate maps.
The color series filenames are: BG_KL_xxx.jpeg
The BW series filenmames are: BG_ZW_xxx.jpeg
I have imported the two maps in iPhoto.
The pictures are streamed (using Photostream) to my iPad.
On the iPad they show up side by side (color version aside of BW version, regardless theye have different filename)
I made two albums on the iPad
    -BG_KL
    -BG_ZW
and flled the BG_KL album with the color version
When I fill the ZW folder with the black and white version of the pictures, the iPad grabs the color version and put it to the black and white map.
What is wrong here? Doens't the iPad look to the filename? Or are the files renamed once in the cloud?
    Your help is welcome...
    Kind regards
    Ivo

I guess you'll have to repost all your renamed photos to the stream rather than just rename them on your 'local' mac. They stream, not sync. Like you sync your photos to your iPad via USB or wifi, that is sync, file name changes on iPad once you edit it on mac. But, photostream works more like a 'picture blog', in my opinion. Good luck.

  • Mixed up photos in albums on iPhone

I sync a few select albums from my Mac to my iPhone. I noticed just this week that in one album, while the number of photos was correct, some of the photos came from another album! I unchecked the photo albums, synced, then rechecked them, and the correct photos were in the album again.
    I'm just wondering what happened!

How things are displayed on the Phone is a matter for the Phone software. I'd ask that on the iPhone forum.

  • How to move photos between albums

Simple question, I know. I'm embarrassed to even ask. I tried Command key to select several images, then dragging the photos to targeted folder. No dice. Help?

You have to drag by the image, not by the border.

  • What's the difference between photos and albums

I'm trying to figure out what the difference between photos and albums is on my ipad 'photos' programme.
What I'm really trying to do is to delete photos from my phone so that I'm not going over 5GB on my icloud and I don't want to lose them, so I'm checking to see where they are stored on ipad.

    Hello julian
As far as what iCloud backs up, it is backing up the photos and videos in the Camera Roll. If you want to ensure that your pictures are backed up, then follow the steps in the last article to import them to your computer. One thing to note is that you cannot import your albums that you create. If those photos are not in your camera roll, import the photos to your camera roll.

  • Organising/Syncing photos between iPad & folder on Mac mini

    Hi folks.
Hoping somebody out there can help, though judging by the sheer volume of complaints I've seen here with similar problems, I'm not too hopeful...
Trying to keeping my problem simple & to the point here:
    1) I regularly import photos (which I have painstakingly re-named) from a designated sync folder on my Mac mini, via iTunes
    2) No matter what I've re-named my photos, they are obviously not organised by name when viewed in the 'Photos' app on my iPad3. From what I have read, apparently they are displayed by modified date... (VERY helpful Apple!!! Not).
    3) Following some tips here, I purchased 'Photo Manager Pro'. However, when I import the photos from an album on my iPad, into 'Photo Manager Pro', all the file names are different, so using its extra organising options is hopeless, as my original filenames are gone! Now, are my photos being renamed from the initial sync between iPad and Mac mini (via iTunes), or between the import between iPads 'Photos' app and 'Photo Manager Pro'???
    So my question(s) are:
    A) When you sync photos between a chosen folders on a Mac, and the iPad (via iTunes), are the files renamed when transferred to the iPad? If they are, is there a way to retain the original names?
    B) Why are the filenames shown within 'Photo Manager Pro' different to the ones I named/imported? (i.e. should say 2013_06_12.JPG, but instead will show, IMG145.JPG for example). Is this a fault of Photo Manager Pro, or the initial Mac/iPad photo sync process?
    C) Is there any way I can EASILY do something as simple as wanting to import photos into iPad, WITHOUT have to use iPhoto to organise things so they at least display in the correct order? (Sorry Apple fans, I do NOT like iPhoto, and want to keep it out of my work-flow...)
ANY help or advice would be truly appreciated, as I'm soooo close to giving up on my iPad now. Something as utterly simple as this should not be so complicated to work around, surely?! On the iPad I miss the drag & drop conveniance of Finder on the Mac, and the ability to just simply hit a menu button and organise things they way I want to see them (being as I own and paid for the gear!). I am stunned it is so 'messy' on the iPad...
    Thanks muchly folks.
    - John

This can be done but its a bit tricky.
If you want to retain files names when importing photos into photo manager pro you need to use iTunes not the "photos" app.
    1) open itunes
    2) click the iPad button
    3) Apps tab
    4) at the bottom of the pane look for "File sharing"  select the PhotoMgrPro icon
    5)  the the pane next to it should now be called "PhotoMgrPro Documents. Click the add button.
    6) Slect the desired images for import, click "add."
I need to manage multiple large collections of sales photos in PhotoMgrPro and I found that importing one collection at a time was the easyest way to manage.
    7) Open PhotoMgrPro
    8) create a new folder
    9) Open it and then click the import button on the bottom left.
    10) Select itunes.
    11) import. ( original file names should be intact )
    12) the images should remove themselves from the itunes que after import.
    13) repeat

  • How can I share photos between my iphone and ipad?

I want to automatically share photos between my iPhone and iPad.  I use iCloud and I setup Photo Stream but my photos are not moving from one device to the other. My goal is to have all my photos on both devices- automatically. How can I accomplish this?
    Thank you!

Photos will Not go between iPad & iPhone..they have to go thro' iCloud as a provider or sync via your computer individually...you need Wireless on both or a direct USB connection..
On each iPad and iPhone you can initialize via the Summary/Photos when they are connected via iTunes..
