  • My iPad is no longer communicating with my printer

My iPad is no longer communicating with my printer. I get a message that it is contacting printer and then eventually it tells me that my printer is off line but it's not.

    First, follow these steps:
    Turn off internet modem (DSL)
    Turn off wireless router
    Turn off printer
    Turn off iPad
WAIT THREE MINUTES BEFORE TURNING THEM ON
Turn on previous items in the EXACT order they were turned off
    Allow Third Party Access
After the rebooting, go into your computer or printer's network connection, and make sure that third party devices have permission to have access to the printer.
If you're having problems after that, I deduct that the problem is not with the iPad, but with the printer itself.
Is the printer connected to Wi-Fi? Or, is the printer directly linked to your wireless router?
In the event that the printer IS connected to Wi-Fi, either refer to the user's manual that came with it, contact customer service, or let me know below!
In the event that the printer IS NOT connected to Wi-Fi but to a wireless router, resort to the following steps:
Check the (ethrnet) cable linking your printer and wireless router for any damage.
Make sure the ethernet cable is connected.
Check the wireless router's lights. The cable that was plugged in should have a matching light that turns on and off when plugged in, and removed.
If the light is off, try plugging the ethernet cable into a different port. Repeat this step until a light turns on.
If none of the port lights turn on, your wireless router is the problem.
If the port light does turn on, a connection between the printer and router is established.
Try to connect your device and the printer again.
After following these steps, and it's still not working, post another comment and let me know! My life is now dedicated to helping you get your iPad and printer connected!

  • My computer is not communicating with my wireless printer

My hp computer is not recognizing my wireless HP 8600 printer. The printer has worked fine for the past year. The message says that the printer is off line and to check the cable or network. The printer is working fine because I can print from the two other computer that are connected to the wireless network. I went through the trouble shooting procedures for the network, but the network is fine. Anyone have this problem with the software on their computer?

  • Airport does not communicate with my wireless printer

    Hello all,
I can really use some help here.  We have a Canon wireless printer and an Airport Extreme.  The printer was working wirelessly until recently and I called Canon for tech support.  I was on the phone with Canon for an hour.  We have trouble-shot the printer every which way.  They are now telling me that the airport is not communicating with my wireless printer.  Is there someone that can help me check this?

Earlier G5s had an external T antenna I believe, besides the antenna wire inside...

My iPad Mini with retina display suddenly will not connect to the Internet. It shows full wifi bars, yet no web pages will load. My Internet is working with all other apple devices in my house. The iPad also no longer works with celluar data. I'm not sure what has happened. It was working fine a few hours ago. I have tried resetting it, ive restarted my browser etc. I tried to erase all data from my Ipad but I can't do that because it needs to sign into my Apple ID and use the Internet!

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Can i print from my ipad with an wireless printer and an apple app or do i have to have an airprinter?

Can I print from my ipad with an wireless printer and an apple app or do I have to have an air printer?

It depends on the printer and if it is shared on your home network.
I have a wireless HP printer, but it is not an E Printer and cannot print directly from my mobile device.  I purchased an Epson all in one E Printer so that I could print from my tablet.  THe printer cost me less than $90 at Walmart.
(Epson 600 series all in one)

The problem is not the router.. the issue is the vpn has put your computer in a different IP range with a different gateway. When you turn off the vpn the computer returns to local lan and can print.
Some vpn software allows you to set gateway to use local net instead of remote gateway or access to other webistes or local lan.
    Read up the issue.
    http://stevejenkins.com/blog/2010/01/using-the-local-default-gateway-with-a-wind ows-vpn-connection/
    Cisco vpn client..
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/239113
I did not search much.. just grabbed the first article I could find that explains the issue.
The whole point of the vpn is whilst it is connected your computer is NOT part of the Local Lan .. it is part of the Remote LAN via the vpn tunnel.
It is also a security risk using split tunnelling so often it will not be allowed.
Plug the printer directly into the computer via usb or whatever.. Local connection will work.. not local lan.

  • Ipad can no longer find my HP air printer although was perfectly fine before. Have tried turning both printer and ipad off and on - no joy. Printer says that it is connected to my wifi.

Just returned from holiday and my ipad can no longer detect my air printer, although working fine prior to that.
Have tried switching both off and on again - no luck.
The printer says that it's connected to my wifi as does the ipad.
Would appreciate any suggestions as I have found it very frustrating trying to get any help from the HP support sites.
    Thank you

You're welcome. It's amazing how many problems can be sorted out simply by restarting ALL devices involved. That's my first troubleshooting step when I have issues like that - restart everything and try again.
I'm glad that it worked for you.

  • IPad 2 can't pair with iMac wireless Keyboard (late 2009)

ipad 2 will not pair with wireless keyboard that came with iMac late 2009.
I've read countless ways to do this in support forums, but no matter what I do, I can not get the ipad 2 to work with my wireless keyboard.
In settings>bluetooth, I UNCHECKED discoverable for the keyboard, as I've read many times.
I then clicked the minus button and a box came up ( I can not recall what it said but it basically asked if I wanted to ?remove? the device, and I clicked OK.
Then, I went to the iPad 2, into bluetooth, and went to pair it. The keyboard was discoverable, and then something with a code came up on the iPad screen, and I clicked OK.
NOTHING happened, even though it said it was connected.
I looked at my iMac screen, and there was something there with a code that had to be typed in? This is where I get confused. I disconnected the keyboard, yet I got a box on the iMac screen, asking me to put the code in to pair it with the ipad 2 !  I figured it must be a mistake, because I disconnected the keyboard from the imac.
well, I tried to key in the code and it worked on the IMAC...which, technically, it should not have been able to do.
I've watched countless Youtube videos, read through the support forums here and...I can't find anyone with  this same problem and so, I toss it out to you all in Apple Support.
What could I be doing wrong??
    Thanks.

Spoke with an Apple Care Tech today on this issue:
Apparently, this is how it works : First, you have to go to BLUE TOOTH and when you see your keyboard, delete it or remove it, and then shut down the computer.
Then, you must go to your iPAD. (initially, your blue tooth on iPAD should be TURNED OFF- now, turn it ON.
Press and hold the button on the right side of your keyboard for 5 seconds, and watch for it to blink then go off.
Next, push the button on the side of the keyboard again, it will go on.
On your ipad, under Blue Tooth, you will see some numbers and it might say NOT CONNECTED. Click that.
Be patient and then under that, something like YOUR NAME KEYBOARD will appear. Click it and it will give you a code to type in. Type it in. Be patient. Might not take the first time. Do it again. When the code comes up again, type it in again.
This worked for me as suddenly the keyboard was paired with the iPAD 2.
When you want to unpair it, turn blue tooth on the  ipad OFF. Turn your computer back on. Initially your screen will come up to sign in (if you have it set up that way). In a few seconds, you will see that your keyboard has reconnected to your Mac. Sign in and that's that:)

  • How do I connect my new MacBook Pro with my wireless printer?

New to Apple products, and can't figure out how to wirelessly connect to my printer.  I am assuming that it has that capacity....but can't find a way.  I have an HP officejet 4500 wireless printer.
    Appreciate the help.

As you will come to discover and appreciate in this new world, most common and mundane tasks have been designed to be simple, easy and, often, self-evident. But we've had to put up with Windoze's Weird Ways for way too long and have had our instinct to do things naturally blunted. Fortunately, the brain damage is curable...
    Cheers!
P.S., in time you'll come to appreciate and benefit from the Mac's minimalist design, as was the Will of Steve throughout Apple's products.

  • Any one having problems with the calandar within the last two days?

Having problems with iPad 2 calendar , anyone else with this problem?

What kind of problems? I am having no issues. Have you tried quitting the app completely and then restart the iPad?
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Or reboot the iPad?
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If those don't help, post back with your specific issues.

  • IBook printing with Belkin Wireless Print Server

    Hi Guys
Ok, I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction. I am a windows user (groan!, get a proper computer, yes, I know. lol lol) But trying to set up a simple network consisting of three pcs, one laptop all running windows xp/vista and one IBook. Not the best on macs but can find my way round!! All works Ok as far as seeing each other on the network and communicating/internet etc. Have introduced Belkin wireless print server to network and all ok for windows regarding printing wirelessly over the network. However, the IBook I set up as IP printing and set the appropriate address in the ibook printer setup screen. But when printing from the IBook it says the print has gone but it is actually stuck in the queue and never prints. Can anyone help with what may be a simple entry in the setup or is it some black magic IBook setting that evades us windows users??
All help will be gratefully received and promise to look at conversion!!
    Thanks in anticipation of help..........

Your printer is a non-postscript printer and requires a CUPS driver in order to use the network printing protocols which are part of the CUPS system in OS X. Except for Brother, no manufacturer of non-postscript printers is providing CUPS drivers. The printer model doesn't show up because the OS X driver only works for USB. Apple tried to get around this by including open source Gimp-Print (CUPS) drivers with OS X. But very few HPs are supported. You should try HP Deskjet 900 Series, Gimp-Print driver to see if it "might" work.
For PPC Macs, there is another open source driver set that supports most HPs, including yours:
    http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/hpijs/
But, these aren't Universal binaries, so they don't work on Intel Macs. The source code is available, and I think it will readily compile on your Mac, but I don't have an Intel Mac to try that on.
Next issue - print server setup. We don't have auto-setup software, so we have to read the manual closely and decide which protocol to use. If it's IPP (=internet printing protocol, not IP printing) or LPR/LPD, you need to find the print server's queue name (sometimes called port name), and enter that in Add printer dialog near IP address.
There are other ways to do network printing. The Airport Express print server from Apple allows you to use the USB driver because it uses Airport-Bonjour software to redirect USB output, instead of using standard protocols.
    Hope this helps.
