My ipad is no longer playing sounds on some games

My ipad is not playing sounds for most of my games but for apps like netflix it does. i have checked settings and vol is all the way up. i also noticed that when i slide the bar to unlock after it goes into rest mode i don't hear the clicking sound anymore. anyone have anything like this happen? i tried shutting it down and started it back up its still not working

You have system sounds muted.
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

  • Kid Art for iPad app:  no longer plays the music.  Any suggestions?

    Kid Art for iPad app:  no longer has sound?  It used to play a jingle on the home page and make sounds when coping objects into the drawing pad.  Any suggestions please.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled it but no change.  I have repurchased it on my iPhone and it works correctly but I don't seem to be able to repurchase it on the iPad - it reverts to the original purchase which seems to be faulty.  Help?

    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.
    Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
    If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

I've restored the phone using iTunes on my laptop and checked all the volumes are turned up and the button at the left hand Side of the phone is in the correct position.

    Try inserting and re-inserting your headphones 7 or 8 times. Also try cleaning out the headphone jack in case of debris that might be interfering with the connection/disconnection.

    For Safari you could try clearing its cache and history via Settings > Safari.
    For Safari and your other apps you could close them all completely and then see if they work when you re-open them : from the home screen (i.e. not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
    If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Some of my older itunes tv shows no longer play sound?

    I recently reformatted, installed my operating system and files and have noticed that some of my previously purchased itunes tv shows no longer play the sound, i tried redownloading one or two and those have no sound either which leads me to believe it's a problem with my machine somewhere.
    Now, I did lose power today for about 5 mins and noticed this problem *AFTER* the power came back on, but every thing else about my mac seems fine, any thoughts?

    Hi I have an apple tv 2.  I don't recall the last time I updated, but I was always advised against it.  I was turning on apple tv but had tv on wrong output and I guess I accidently hit update.  It says not to unplug or turn off, so I went ahead and let it update.  I have a collection of old movies that I owned before RedBox came out, so I downloaded them to my itunes library.  Now a lot of my newer movies will not show up on my playlists.  Movies that were there before.  Anyone know what happened, but better yet, please tell me there is a way to undue this new update?  PLEASE! 
    I know it's not the internet connection, because I can go to my computer and airplay it to the apple tv with no problem.  But this will be such a pain.

    My iPhone will not play any sound (music, podcasts) through my earphones.  The speakers on my iPhone work but not the earphone piece.  I have tried several earphones but none of them work.  It's as it my iPhone does not register them.  It continues to play sound via the speakers even when earphones are plugged in.  Do you think the iPhone is broken or did I do something to turn off the earphones.

    How do I check if the volume setting is on.  I thought the volume button was the same for both.
    Everything was working fine on my iPhone yesterday and then suddenly today the earphones don't work.

  • 60gb no longer plays sound!

    So all of a sudden out of the blue, my 60gb made this god awful screeching sound and quit playing any sound out of both the headphone jack and port. The ipod still plays the song and everything on the screen looks normal, but just no sound will come out of it. I tried resetting multiple times and still nothing. Is it shot and now I need to buy a new one?

    I have had the same problem with my 30 gig iPod video. It started having some problems about 2 weeks ago (mid May) here and there with a screeching noise, but would later clear up. Then one day, it just quit playing sound. It was playing songs, but no audio. No headphones, no sound dock - NADA! I did my 5 R's etc., but no luck. This went on for 2 weeks, then I saw a post from someone that said it started happening to their Ipod when the weather got warmer. So, I know it sounds stupid, but I decided to put it in the refrigerator for about 25 minutes or so. It was nice and cool, and bibbity bobbity boo! It immediately worked on the sound dock for about 3 songs, then a nice screeching/static sound, and no sound again, but it was still playing. Back to the refrigerator again for 10 minutes, and as if Whirlpool manufactures fairy dust, I am hearing Octopus's Garden (that's the Beatles BTW) in beautiful full sound. It would seem, if common sense is a reality, that there is an internal cooling problem. Try it out and let me know if this works for you.

    All of the sudden I can't play any of my games, EA or any other games. I get the following mssg. "Could not write license data, please contact customer support for further instructions". EA games can't help me. I have not made any changes on my computer as I'm technology challanged. I called my anti-virus people, I was told that my computer is "clean".     Here's what happened to me, and how I resolved it. In my settings, (Settings->General), I had "Use the Slide Switch to:" set to the default, "Mute." I had the slide switch in the mute position when I went into settings and changed the control for the slide switch to "Lock Rotation." This caused the slide switch control to change to rotation locking, but it left the volume control in the muted state.
    This is where King_Penguin's response comes in: if the slide switch controls rotation locking, you have to use the home button to get to the mute setting. Double-tap the home button to reveal the application switcher bar at the bottom of the iPad. Then swipe from left to right in that bar to reveal the audio controls. The icon on the far left will be of a speaker. If it has a slash through it, audio is muted. Simply tap the icon to toggle it to a non-muted state. Also, you can verify that the volume level itself is not all the way to the lowest setting. The volume slider is on the right side, next to the Music icon.

    Have you got notifications muted ? That will mute notifications (including games), so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, will still get sound.
    If its an iPad Air 2 then notification mute and rotation lock are controlled via Control Centre : Turn on Mute and Orientation Lock on iPad Air 2 - Apple Support
    If it's the first gen iPad Air then depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via Control Centre : swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and it's the right-most of the 5 icons in the middle of it (if the icon is white then it's 'on', tap it to turn it grey and 'off').     I bought an iPod. When I play some games I get no sounds. The same games on my old iPod 3 do have sounds. Anybody have the same thing happening?

    The answer i think (don't no if its technically right but it worked and makes sense)
    there are 2 individual sounds the game and the ringer/alarm sounds.
    The games makers use the ringer/alarm channel for sound so the player can turn on/off music and on/off soundeffects.
    So... thats it: I turned the ringer/alarm on highest volume. And now I got sounds in my games!
    Problem fixed but I still find it weird that there's a relation between my alarm/ringer and game sounds. Should be seperate channels

    i had the same problem after i updated my iphone yesterday. today the phone did not wanna play any songs that i downloaded from i-tunes. the song i copied from my cds worked fine. i connected my laptop to the internet and played some songs from itunes and synchronized my phone after that.
    that seemed to have solved the problem. i can play all my song again
