My ipad is not recognised in itunes

I am struggling to recognise my ipad in itunes. I have tried everything from updating, rebooting etc. Help please?

Are you plugged directly into your computer's box? The iTunes doesn't seem to like hubs much anymore and prefers the device to be connected directly to a computer

  • IPad mini not recognised by iTunes after updating to iTunes 11.1. All other devices are recognised...

After upgrading to ios 7, adn iTunes 11, I had some problems with both airplay and having my ios devices not recognised by iTunes. After a few fixes (re-installing Apple Mobile Device support ) manually, all is now looking good, apart from my iPad mini.
Windows recognises it when I plug it into any of the USB pports on my PC, however iTunes does not see it. The device is recognised by iTunes onother windows and Mac computers I have.
Is it posible to isolate which driver is being used by the mini, and uinistall it? I guess that if Windows sees the device as a "new one", it will re-install the device driver, and probably fix this issue.

  • My iPad is not recognised in iTunes despite all suggested troubleshooting. Any suggestions

Can anyone give me any suggestions as iPad will not show up on iTunes despite all suggested troubleshooting

    Peter-
Did it ever work?  What version of iTunes are you using?  (The latest is 10.3.1 as of today.)
You might have a defective cable.  I suggest you try carefully disconnecting and reconnecting it to the iPad, to be sure it is making good contact.  If you have the iPad 2, there is a slight compatibility problem with the old dock due to the shape of the iPad 2's bottom.

  • My ipad is not recognised in itunes over wifi anymore..

if i connect direct to pc everything is ok...just wont connect and sync over wifi...
    anyone can help?

Usually it's because you are not making internet connection via wifi.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

  • TS1538 I have just installed Windows 8.1 and now my ipad and iphone are not recognised in iTunes, can anyone help?

    Hi everyone,
This is my first post so if I've made any mistakes please forgive me. I have recently upgraded from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 8.1 Professional however, now my iPad and iPhone are not recognised in iTunes. I have checked Device Manager and the iPad is listed, I also asked it to update the driver but it informed me that I have the most up to date version. Can anyone help please?

    Hi Skydiver119,
Many thanks for your prompt reply however, I found this post and it worked perfectly. I hope it helps other users.
Plug your Ipad USB cable into USB port.
Go to your Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, then click Device Manager.
Click on Portable Devices, and you should see Apple Ipad shown (or whatever apple device your using).
Right-click the Apple Device your using, and choose Update Driver Software..
Click "Browse my computer for driver software."
Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer."
Click the Have Disk button. (If the Have Disk option is not present, choose a device category such as Mobile Phone or Storage Device if listed, and click next. The Have Disk button should then appear.)
In the "Install from Disk" dialog, click the Browse button.
Use this window to navigate to the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
Double-click the "usbaapl" file. (This file will be called "usbaapl64" if you have a 64-bit version of Windows. If you don't see "usbaapl64" here, or if there is no Drivers folder, look in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers. instead).
Click OK in the "Install from Disk" dialog.
Click Next and finish the driver-installation steps. Open iTunes to verify that the device is recognized properly.

  • IPad not recognised in iTunes and showing not charging from wall charger

I have had my ipad a year and today it is not recognised in itunes, also when charging from a wall socket 10A ipad charger it shows Not Charging (however trickle charges). I have tried resetting (holding both buttons for 10 sec) with no benefit, i am reluctant to resset everything as if this does not work I have a dead iPad.
No other items have changed and there does not appear to be any visable damage in the conector on the iPad, note an ipod conects in itunes, so it is not a Mac side issue. This feels like a software issue on the iPad.
Any help appreciated if anyone else has had this issue.
    Thanks

Update: Apple agreed to a replacement iPad even though I did not return faulty one to dealer till 2 weeks outside of warranty.  The replacement looks brand new.  Dealer told me Apple does not repair iPads as they are a sealed unit.  I am doubtful that is true.  Suspect they do 'refurbish' and use as replacements.  Am grateful to Apple for the new iPad.  Two thoughts as to why they agreed to it despite faulty one out of warranty: 1) Consumer Guarantee Act in New Zealand - which trumps manufacturers warranties and says among other things that goods sold must be of an 'acceptable quality' (and I did mutter to the dealer about the CG Act); 2) It stops owners blabbing on forums like this what component failed on their iPad... and hmmm maybe Apple recognises a problem with the lifespan of the dock connector/cable.

This is the third time of writing this on your Apple Support Communities!
Not with your current user id.
Far too much uneccesary information in your post, which only confuses things, a vast amount!
    Let's start with iTunes.
Have you updated iTunes to 11.1.5, because the previous version did appear to have an issue about seeing iPods?
With iTunes 11.1.5 installed, look in Edit/Preferences/Devices, (or use the ALT key, followed by the E key and then the F key) and make sure that the box named Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically does not have a tick in the box.
Once you have doen those two things, check to see if the iPod is seen by iTunes.

By the way, what does IOS mean? (I thought IO stood for operating system, but am flummoxed by the S on the end.
    Really?
OS stands for Operating System. (In computer speak, IO means Input/Output.)
iOS originally stood for iPhone Operating System, but it now refers to the iPod Touch and iPhone. The iPod Classic, which you have listed in your profile as your iPod, does not use iOS.
I assume that you have been listening to the Podcast in your iTunes on the computer as you cannot transfer it to your iPod. It's what I'd do.

  • IPhone and iPad no longer recognised by iTunes

I have just upgraded iTunes, but now both my iPhone and iPad are not registering on iTunes. They are recognised by my laptop, so the cable is working (and have tried all 3 USB ports as well) but neither are coming up on iTunes. I have un- and then reinstalled iTunes on my laptop, but still not working. Help!

iTunes won't recognise my iPad since the latest update. I have tried the solution on http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538, twice over but with no result.
I have repaired each of the iTunes elements and restarted both the computer and the iPad several times.
I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit operating system.

  • My ipad does not appear in itunes

my ipad does not appear in itunes but the computer recognises it

I had the same problem. found a dozen different solutions in various forums. None worked.
One of the official responses TS1538 came very close and sounded promising. I found that the usb device did not appear in device manager. The ipad appeared only in the imaging devices.
The instructions were to right click on the entry in images and update the driver, pointing at
    program files\common files\apple\drivers\usbaapl.inf.
This told me that my device was not found in the driver. date on the files was 2009. date on the files in another pc which worked was 2011.
I had already re-installed itunes, which I thought should install the necessary driver.
Decided to fool it. copied the files in the above folder and then deleted them. Then re-installed itunes again.
    Fixed.
So why doesnt itunes installation over-ride the old files?
Why doesnt apple tell us about this fix.
Why did I buy and apple?

  • IPad3 is not recognised in iTunes (10.6.1.7)

    Hello,
My iPad3 is not recognised in iTunes (10.6.1.7). I tried to re-installed iTunes 2 times but it didn't work...
I also restart my iPad and my computer but I always have the same problem. Do you have a solution?

Try another USB port on your PC - do not use a hub or a port on the monitor if you have a desktop. If that doesn't work, start going through the troubleshooting steps here.
