My ipad is not recognizing my sim card

my Ipad 2 is about 2 years old, i have downloaded IOS 7
and now i keep getting a message that i have no sim card ... i am travelling and require my 3G when not in wifi areas
anyone else had this problem ?? is it related to the IOS 7 ??
thanks ...
i have tried to reinsert the sim card ,,,,, but have no paper clip !!!

I hope I'm not jumping the gun, but after having the same "No Sim Card" problem after installing iOS7, trying the various "fixes" ... removing and replacing Sim Card, turning Airport Mode off and on, etc., without a permanent fix, just now I removed the Sim Card and cleaned the inside of the Sim Card slot on my iPad2.
To do this I took a thin flexible piece of plastic ... it's actually one of the removable collar stiffeners from a men's dress shirt, but a sized strip of cardboard would also work.  I folded a cut-to-fit strip of paper towel ( I used heavy duty Bounty paper towel so it wouldn't fall apart ... a piece of clean cotton would work as well) over the plastic strip, soaked it with isopropyl alcohol, and carefully slid it back and forth in the slot a couple of times.
Then I reinserted the sim card and turned the iPad back on.  At first I got the no card message again, but after simply turning Airport mode off and on, then wi-fi off and on, it started working again.  This was a few hours ago.  I've gone back to the iPad several times now and when I've turned it on, it continues to work properly.  Only time will tell if this will work permanently, but since I've had the no card message non-stop for 2 weeks now, it's definitely encouraging.
It makes sense, because one of the fixes was to clean the Sim Card.  Why wouldn't the Sim Card's receptacle be just as likely to get dirty or have a tiny bit of dust on it, stopping the connection? Wish me luck.

iPhones require a SIM card for activation.  The SIM does not need to be active, but it must be for the carrier the device is locked to.

  • My Iphone is not recognizing my SIM card...I've tried two cards but no luck...please help...

I tried putting two SIM cards in my iphone. It intially recognizes it, but it can't text, 1 out of 5 call attempts are successful. The rest is all good, but it's not like a phone anymore..

Are thses actual microSIMs or regular SIMs that have been cut down?
IF they have been cut down, it's possible they were not cut properly and are not making contact resulting in marginal performance.
If they are microSIMs then it's possible the iPhone is experiencing a hardware issue.

  • ITunes not recognizing my sim card after iPhone update

    Hi,
So I just updated my iPhone software to the iOS 4 version on my 3G and connected it to itunes. Everything got backed up fine but when connecting to the itunes store, it says that my sim card is not supported.
I've tried turning it off and switching it back on, but nothing seems to work.
If anyone can help me in this, it would be awesome!
    Thanks!

  • HT201415 My ipad 2 running iOS 6.0 will not recognize my SIM card

My ipad 2 is not recognizing my SIM card what can I do to fix this probllym

I would try closing the app.  Double tap the home key to open multi-tasking.  Hold the app you want to close (facebook) for about 2 seconds and it should start wiggling.  tap the x in the top right corner and it will close.  Then open the app and try again.
After that try rebooting the device.

  • Pearl not recognizing sim card or media card

Well my old pearl broke so i ordered a new one on ebay, it was a t-mobile phone, but its not recognizing my sim card? and when i put my media card in from my old phone it says ''media card inserted contains encrypted content which will be unaccesible  by this devise. please place the media card in origional devise to acces the content" but i cant because my other phone is broken. any ideas or helpfull advice is greattttly appreciated...

Yes, using DTM you should be able to backup the contacts, calendar, etc. http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB12487
For the media card, if you plug into the computer, does it show up as a usb drive? If so, you may be able to save the data.
Normally, you would go to Options>Media Card, and set:
    Encryption to "Off",
    Mass Storage Mode to "On",
Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode to "Yes"
If your trackball and menu buttons partially work, you can try to do this. If not, you may have to  format the media card in the new phone and lose the stored files

After upgrading my iphone4 to iso5 the phone didn't recognize my sim card to activate it please what can i do t get it back to work. its factory unlocked. don't know why its not recognizing the sim card after upgrade

Look under the Store menu in iTunes for the "Check for available downloads" command and run that. You may find the track there to be downloaded. If not, and you're in the US, just look under the Quick Links on the main iTunes Store page for the Purchased link. Click that and you should be able to find and re-download the track.
If it's not there, or you're not in the US, contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department from their contact page and explain the problem to them.
    Regards.

    No.
    Apple can do nothing.
You cannot block it from being "registered".
If you did not set up find my ipad before it was lost, then there is nothing you can do but change your passwords.

  • My 5S does not recognize the SIM card although the card is recognized by another phone

I bought a new SIM card in Brazil for my 5S after it was blocked because I had lost it for about six weeks.
The phone did not recognize the SIM card. Thinking it was a hardware problem i took it to an Apple store in the US where the assistant showed that her sim card was recognized by my phone. However my SIM card continued not to work in Brazil. A colleague's SIM will not work either in my phone but my SIM card will work in her phone. What could be the problem?

What is the EXACT message you get?

I have an ipad2 with wifi and 3G.  My wife and I are traveling in France (Nice) then into Italy.  We are unable to purchase a data plan because our Verizon IPad will not accept a sim chip...we are told.  An Apple store employee here said this model is good only in the US. The iPads here take a sim card. We were advised by an Apple Store Employee at home that this model would work in Europe and that we could buy our service here.  That does not seem to be the case.    We have been told that we must invest in a modem at 200.00€ and then purchase a separate service plan for each country. We can use the free wifi wherever it is available but we cannot connect to the outside world when out of range. Is there anything else we can do?
    Thanks, John

Unfortunately, no other solution is available.
    Hope this helps

  • Ipad1 with WLAN and 3G but WLAN does not work without SIM Card

I do have that Problem too.
    Ipad1 with 3G and WLAN.
But... I do not have a SIM Card. I only use my home WLAN.
I am sure WLAN works and is correct installed (I did the same to my iphone and it works there), AND I can controll my Samsung TV with the Ipad, which only works when both use the same WLAN. So it is installed perfect for sure.
But: when I use safari it shows the URL, but than says there is no connection possible.
    Why this?
Do I have to install a SIM Card? How is that? I did not mention to do.
My iOS Software is 5. something (the newest that was possible) since this was a original iPad, never used before.
I installed it with iTunes. iTunes says that the connetction failed BUT all my apps, music and anything else I have from my iPhone are now on the iPad.
Do not understand whats going on.
Again - sure it is on the wlan, but the iPad won´t let my out to connect the world.
Bad since I wanted to use it in the house to read/write emails and for my schedule.
    please help soon.
    Thanks

A blinking blue dot on a grey screen. In my opinion it doesn't work if that's all you get.
As mentioned in the above thread, there are app store apps (TrackThing, gpsCompass) that will read out your actual position, speed, direction, in numbers, so you can see where you are on a map. (You remember maps? those quaint old world methods of finding where you are?).
This is quite useful in the back country, where cell signals may not reach. I've used gps Compass in the mountains where there was no cell signal. In my case it took about 2 minutes to find the satellites the first time but after that it was very fast.
Its not a substitute for a Garmin, but with a paper map you can still find exactly where you are, and were you are going.
(If you don't know how to navigate with maps, compass, and longitude/latitude numbers, you probably don't belong where there are no cell signals.)

  • N9 Can Not Detect the Sim Card

    Hi Guys,
I have N9 which was dead due to some reasons, I just gave to Nokia Care and they have reinstalled the software and returned to me.
I insereted my microsim and it didn't detected, they Nokia people used their sim card and that worked. I just bought another new sim card and put it in, it worked let's say 2 hours but now again showing the icon of "No Sim Card". I tried restarting, removing sim and inserting again etc...but till now no Luck.
I am extremely angry as I paid a huge some for this device and it didn't work for me. I just bought it 2 weeks back.
Any Idea what could be the problem, I am going to sue the mfs if they are not going to give me a new device or money back.
    Thanks.

If it stops recognizing the sim card after a while it could be due to wear and tear, but since it's new and you have tried a new sim card I would say it's obvious that there is a hardware fault with the device. Could be the contacts reading the sim card.
Get it replaced or take it back for repair. They should be helpful fixing this.
Hope you get it sorted and you become a happy camper as I am - so far
