My ipad is showing an itunes icon and USB cord and is frozen.
My ipda is showing a USB plug and cable with an itunes icon and is frozen
Is this the first time you've fired it up? If so, what it wants you to do is to attach it to a computer that's running ITunes 10.5. iTunes will then 'see' the iPad and start a dialogue box to activate the iPad.

I downloaded the latest update for my ipad and now it won't open. the screen shows the itunes icon and a pic of the usb cable
That message means that you have to restore the iOS software because something went wrong. Follow the instructions here. I hope that you have a backup.

I updated my ipad 3 with the ios7 update. Now the screen shows the itunes icon and a pic of the plug in (as to plug into itunes) When I do this it wants to restore my ipad, which I have already done. I can't get out of this screen. Any hints on what to do next?
Something went wrong with your update; you are in Recovery Mode.
Follow step 1 to 6 closely to recover your iPad.

After doing the IOS 7.1.1 update on my iPad 4 the screen just shows the iTunes icon and a cable with an arrow. I can't get the device to open. Can someone help me with this issue? Thanks!!
Yes. The phone will be back to default settings.
Once the phone is up and running you can try and restore your backup again.

iPad is not responding. It ONLY shows an iTunes icon and a USB cable in the middle of an all black screen. I have tried to reset it manually and via iTunes (not responsive), linked it to iTunes (not recognized), etc. Nothing works. This happened after an iTunes updated, after I was asked to "restore" my iPad to factory settings.
Thanks, King_Penguin. Yes, I tryied putting the iPad into recovery mode. It freezes in the black screen with the iTunes and USB cable. When I followed the instructions and then started iTunes, I received the following message: "A required iTunes component is not installed. Please repair or reinstall iTunes (-424040)".
I have unistalled iTunes three times already and donloaded and installed three new versions. No luck.
Thanks a billion once again! -
My ipod touch needed to be updated so I did and now it won't turn on all it does is show the itunes icon and says toconnect it to itunes so I did and let it be updated and now it wont turn on and I tried resetting but nothing changed.
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Downloaded late set iOS 7 update and it's been just showing the iTunes icon and charger indicator with arrow for the last 7 hours, is this normal? How long before phone reboots
That means something went wrong with the update and the phone is in recovery mode.
Connect it to your computer and use iTunes to restore it.

After altering the "Processes" list in Task manager, almost all of my programs show the iTunes icon, and when I click on, for example, Firefox, iTunes will load. Uninstalling iTunes restores the normal loading of other programs, but re-installation of iTunes makes the problem recur. Any answers?
First I'd set up a System Restore point. Then try applying the LNK registry fix from the following document:
File Association Fixes for Windows 7

My father was prompted to download an 'update' which appeared randomly while on his ipad2. since then the screen shows an itune icon and plug. Access has been restricted ever since. is that a virus? and how can he rectify it?
No, it is not a virus! Not every unexplained occurrence in life is a virus. Microsoft has a lot to answer for by brainwashing users if its operating systems into thinking anything unusual must be the result of a 'virus'.
It was most likely the recently released iOS system software update that for whatever reason did not complete.
Follow these instructions to fix: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 -
Ipad shows an itunes icon and an arrow
The ipad will not turn on or do anything. It shows an itunes icon with an arrow and that is it.
What can I do?If it's the first time that you've switched the iPad on then you need to activate it by connecting it to a computer that is running iTunes - getting started : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4053 (the iPad manual also has a chapter on getting started which you can download form here http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipad)
If it's not the first time that you've switched it on then have you tried connecting it your computer's iTunes ? -
Starting to wonder if the iPhone's been hacked into. The Iphone was working perfectly fine just a short time ago...only 48 hours ago. I never saw a screen on the front of the front of the phone which showed an iTunes Icon at the top of the screen and a cord going down to the bottom of the screen before. I cannot use the phone, get online to get to the internet, take photos of anything.
The phone was working perfectly the day it started working very very strangely and I was able to use the phone, see the time of day, take photos, get online, etc.
How do you fix the phone? I am not going to "restore" the phone & get ALL my info, photos & everything deleted!
Think we need to change the phone number because we also got a strange phone call from a phone number we never saw before!
Need some help. as I'm sure people CAN hack into smartphones. It's in recovery mode. It's tryijng to tell you to plug it into iTunes and restore it.
