My iPad is trying to download 15000 old emails, how do I stop this?

I recently set up an iPad 2 for my mom and am having trouble with her email. Her Verizon account is trying to download 16000 old emails dating back to July and I'm having to download them in groups of 1000 & delete them. All of her email settings match my email settings and my account never prompted me to download old emails. How do I stop the email from wanting to pull in these old emails or is there a way to delete the 16000 in mass?

Delete them en mass from her computer. That deletes them from her  e-mail provider's servers. Then her iPad can't download them. I know of no way to delete them en mass on the iPad. Nor do I think you can delete them from her iPad without deleting them from her computer. They both 'talk" to the same server!.

  • I am importing 1000's of images into iPhoto and somehow have 5700 trying to download to Photostream. How can I stop this from happening?

Setting up a new iMac and importing 1000's of pic's from various backup sources.
Right now I have about 5700 images trying to download into Photostream as soon as I turn it on on the iMac
I've tried logging into icloud.com and clicking my username to go to the "advanced" setting but the advance button is gone!
Any suggestions? I still have a lot of pics to upload
    Thanks in advance

Go to iPhoto's Photo Stream preference pane and uncheck the Automatic Upload checkbox.
    Then close and reopen iPhoto.

Downloading the right file for XP?  Check to make sure that you are running XP SP3.
    AirPort Utility 5.5.3 for Windows
AirPort Utility is required if you need to set up or change the settings on an Apple AirPort router.  It is not required if you are simply connecting to the wireless network from a PC.

    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
You will probably need to restore using Recovery Mode.
iPad: Unable to update or restore
    Recovery Mode Instructions
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for iPad to turn off.
If you cannot turn off iPad using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the iPad turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPad. When you reconnect the USB cable, iPad should power on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the recovery mode alert that iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.
    Use iTunes to restore iPad.

  • Have 2  yr. old original iPad that continually asks to be reactivated.  How do I stop this short of doing a Restore and reseeting everything to factory settings?  I do not want to lose apps, mt cellular setup, etc that I have

I got a good solution yesterday on this forum on reactivating with iTunes, which was successful.  I was able to see iTunes communicating with the iPad.  All of the info on the home screen reappeared, and even my cellular was restored, which by the way was how I got into this mess in the first place.  I had lost my cellular ability (the iPad was not recognizing) so I had powered down and back up again; that is how this whole problem started.
However, this morning, I awoke to no cellular recognition (I know I was getting a good cell signal), and when I tried to reboot the iPad to see if that would restore my cell signal to the iPad, the whole "Activation Required" loop started again.
This time however, connecting to iTunes did not automatically help.  I had the choice onlt to Restore, which I only wan t to do as a last resort. Anyone able to give me an assist on this?

I changed my email address, which then changed my userid for itunes.   however, on my ipad, it still comes up old userid email address. how do i change this on the ipad

Tap on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and log out of it, and then log back in with the updated version of your account so as to 'refresh' the account on your iPad

  • My iPad keeps kicking out of an app. How do I stop this?

How do I stop my iPad from kicking out of an app while I'm using it. Like while I'm playing Angry Birds it will kick back to my main screen.

I have the original iPad & have been having the same issue for weeks nowb I am really getting frustrated.
At first I thought maybe it was just the app & I needed to update it.
-- Nope. Not it. Not only did it not show up as 1 of the apps that needed an update, but it started happening to alot of my apps. Nothing worse than finally beating a level of your game & having it suddenly quit & lose everything.
Then I thought maybe I didn't have the right IOS.
-- Nope. Not it. I've checked in my settings & it says I have the latest (5.1.1).  Still not convinced, I plugged into my laptop to sync & hope there was an update. Nope. Says I have the latest version.
Then I think it's a memory thing. So I start going thru & deleting apps I don't really use anymore.
-- Nope. No help. Turns out I'm not even using half my available memory.
So I start researching what the Internet says latest IOS is. I find out it says the latest iPad operating version is IOS 6.
-- I get excited because I think I found the reason. Nope! Turns out that the original iPads can't update to the IOS 6. :(  They can't go higher than the 5.1.1 that I already have. Now I'm really not happy.
I decide to google my problem & see if I'm the only one this is happening to.
-- Nope! I find this is happening to a lot of people. I see all the different advice: clear the app tray, restart your iPad, check your memory... Though I'm grateful for people trying to help, none of it works. :(
I am really getting frustrated!!!! It's taken everything I have to not throw the dang thing off a balcony. I can't really enjoy doing anything on it anymore. Almost every game I get into, it randomly quits. Especially aggravating when it's a game that has limited play.
I really hope Apple fixes this!!!! I love Apple & all my gear is Apple products. But I don't really have the funds to just drop money on a newer one that does actually work. My iPad is still in perfect shape in every other way. I really can't afford to just go out & buy one because they don't want to give us a functioning updated operating system.
APPLE, please help!!!! I beg you!!!

  • HT4972 i have the oldest ipad and i am trying to download ios7 from ios4 how can i do this? i can not loose all pictures and apps! please help me! thanks a bunch!

i am trying to update ios4 to ios7 i cant loose my pics and my apps! help me! thanks a bunch1

If you have an iPad 1 then you cannot upgrade to iOS7, you can only go to iOS 5.1.1
to update, connect your iPad to the computer you normally sync with. Update iTUnes. Do a full back up of your device onto that computer. Then download and install the update. Once the update is done the computer will restore your iPad from the backup that you just made and you should lose nothing.

  • HT5114 My child needs an icloud account for school for her iPad.  She is 8 years old.  How do I set this up?

My children's school requires iPad use next year and each child is to have an ICould account.  How can I set up an account for each child, still monitor these accounts as the parent, and have the accounts linked so that I am not buying duplicate software/bookds for my kids?

This dilemma is a consequence of US law conflicting with your school's desire to use iPads. You should ask the school for guidance since many of them have not considered its implications.
The only way to reconcile the problem and remain within the law is to create a new Apple ID for yourself, for your child to use.
When you create that new Apple ID, you might want to carefully follow the instructions for Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card, which follows:
Step 3 is important, no matter whether you do this on a Mac or the iPad:
Important: Before proceeding to the next step, you must download and install a free application. ...
Important: Before proceeding to the next step, you must download and install the free application by tapping Free followed by tapping Install App. ...
To summarize, you must first download a free app from the App Store. When you are asked to sign in with your Apple ID, select "Create new account". Accept the terms and conditions checkbox, then click Continue. After you enter all the requested personal data, click Continue.
When you are asked to select a payment method, select "None".

  • HT1725 I have an error (-50) on my computer as I'm trying to download an HD movie, how can I fix this?

    Need help...Apple is useless.

Try deleting the partial cached downloads in the iTunes media folder.
That error is outlined in this Apple article -> iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting
    "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023"
These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.
If you encounter this issue while accessing iTunes Store:
See iTunes 9: "One Moment Please" or "Error (-50)" message when accessing iTunes Store
If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
    Mac OS X:
~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads   Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~)  refers to your Home directory.
    Windows  Vista:
  \Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    Windows  7:
  \Users\username\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
    Windows  XP:
  \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My  Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\
After locating your iTunes Downloads folder:
    Quit iTunes.
Delete the Downloads folder on your computer.
    Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Check for Available Downloads.
Enter your account name and password.
