My IPad just shut down and does not want to start again?

My IPad just shut down and does not want to start again....what can I do?

Assuming that the battery isn't empty (it can take up to 10 or 15 minutes charging before it responds) then have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

my iphone just shut down and i cannot get it started again

    Hey Barry,
It really depends on the circumstances.  If you haven't powered your phone off yourself for quite some time, sometimes kinks can just happen and this sounds like one of them.  Every so often on mine I will have to use this method but it is in the very minority of occasions.

Standard troubleshooting steps in the following order:
    1. Reset: Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the apple logo, then release. Ignore the slide to power off.
    If no change, continue:
    2. Restore your phone from a backup, note: if the problem is related to corrupt data, while this will restore a fresh OS, it will also restore the problem.
    If no change, continue:
    3. Restore as a "new" phone in itunes & re-sync your content. All saved data will be lost.
If no change, make an appointment at an Apple store.

Plug your device into the original charger & block in a wall outlet and leave it alone for a couple of hours. Then, while it is still plugged in, restart it by holding down the home button and the power button for 10-15 seconds until you see the Apple, then let go.

  • DELL Inspiron N5110 does not Shut Down and does not wake up from Sleep

    Hello.
I have Dell Inspiron N5110 which cannot shut down neither in Windows 7 nor in Ubuntu Linux. I specifically booted Ubuntu Live from the CD to eliminate the possibility that  the problem is in the Windows 7. Shutdown in Ubuntu does not work either. This proves that the reason in not a BACKGROUND application in Windows that remains hanging and does not allow the laptop to shut down.
The laptop cannot wake up after Sleep or Hibernate either.
I have tried every solution that you advised to all the other people in the forum that have the same issue.
    1. The laptop cannot shut down in Safe Mode either.
    2. It cannot shut down even after Clean Boot Mode - all non-MS services disabled and all Startups disabled.
    3. I tried changing the Advanced Power Options of "Allow Hybrid Sleep" - both ON for "On AC Power" and "Running on battery" - no change.
    4. I tried installing the latest video drivers for Nvidia. This did not help either.
    5. Running only on battery does not change anything - still cannot shutdown.
    6. Running only on AC adapter without battery - still cannot shutdown.
    7. I tried removing the AC adapter and battery and holding the POWER button for 30 seconds to RESET the laptop - did not work.
ATTENTION: I've been reading your forums all day and saw at least 10-15 reports of the same problem and not a single fixed case.
    8. This is why I have not tried Flashing the BIOS to the latest version - I read other people tried that and it didn't work either.
    9. I loaded BIOS default settings (F9) - still cannot shutdown.
REMARK: Changing something in the BIOS and trying to Exit once caused the laptop to freeze and I had to Power Off by holding the button for longer.
    10. I ran DELL Diagnostics from Boot menu (F12 at startup) - no errors found.
    11. I could not locate IEEE 1394 Adapter in Device Manager to change its Power Management settings.
Actually none of the suggestions you may give for changing something in Windows makes sense because I already mentioned that shut down in Ubuntu does not work either.
The issue seems to be either in the BIOS or a hardware problem. But which component? Is it the CD/DVD drive?
    This is a new laptop.
Please advice how to proceed. If you know which component fails please tell me.

Remove the keyboard and palm rest (guide from dell shows you how) and you should see a small coin cell battery. Remove it for at least 10 seconds, then put it back in. Enter BIOS and make sure there isn't anything weird that was changed. It should work properly now. I have had this working in Ubuntu 12.04 for the last few days, with no problems.

  • My ipad just shut down and doesn't open

    Hi,
Try restarting... hold down the Sleep / Wake button top right side of the iPad until you see the red slider then swipe the slider to the right to power off. Then hold the same button down again until you see the Apple logo.
If it still won't turn on, help here.

  • Playbook shut down and does not power on anymore

My playbook shut down while reading an email and does not power on anymore. Any idea how to fix this?

Try holding power for 20seconds. This will do a hard reboot ofthe device. It's was also mentioned that sometimes leaving it plugged in for awhile can help.

  • My ipad just shut off and will not turn back on.

I was waiting for a youtube video to load up so i sat it down and when i picked it back up a few minutes later it wont do anything. I thought it mite be dead so i out it on the charger for atleast an hour and still nothing happening.

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. Happened to me once, about 6 months ago, and a reset got it working again.

  • PC freezes and does not want to start up. (vista, 64-bit)

I hadn't been using this computer actively for maybe a year, so when I started it up and updated some drivers/windows updates etc. Despite its age (4 years old, which probably is part of the problem) it was running like a champion until yesterday.
What happened was, I was playing the Guild Wars 2 stress test and came to a loading screen. It was taking a suspiciously long time, and i finally had to ctrl+alt+delete, with the intention of restarting the game. I got to the task manager, and that's where it froze. Eventually I did a force reboot, logged in without a problem, and when I got to the desktop it froze again. Reboot a couple of times but nothing changed. Put the whole thing outside to cool for a few minutes, and then back in.  At this point it was quite late, and I really didn't have the willpower to keep going, so I went to sleep. Next morning I start up without a problem. It now runs as it should for a few minutes and freezes again. The more I restart it the faster it freezes. Eventually I start it up in safe mode. Even there, it runs for a couple of minutes, but then the monitor shows an error message ("no signal"). The monitor goes off but the computer is still on.
I am clueless as for what I should do. Is there even hope?

I do not see a model number, but since this is posted in the Desktop section, I assume it is one.  First thing I would do is open the case (with unit off and unplugged) and clean out the dust.  Use a can of compressed air, not a vacuum cleaner.  Then, if all the dust is gone, leave the side off and plug the unit in and press the start button.  Watch to make sure the fans on the CPU cooler, case fan and video card fan all start.  If yes, then proceed with boot up.  If one or more fail, stop the boot up by pressing and holding the start button.  Report back.
If a heat related shut had occurred, there may be hardware failure, but lets hope that is not the case.

  • Ipad will just shut down and not power back on until it is plugged in

Ipad will just shut down and will not reboot until it is plugged in. Any suggestions??

I'm going to guess that your battery isnt just dead?
Have you tried a reset? Hold down the sleep and home keys, past when you see the red power down slider  and until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and see if that helps.
If it won't hold a charge, make an appointment at your local apple store and have them take a look at it.
