My IPad just went blank/black/gray sometimes lines cannot force close as the red bar does not come up
The blank screen color travels up and down or side to side
What is causing this
Either way when plug in or not the battery level is at 70%
Try this.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Plug it into an electrical outlet let it sit a few minutes. Then try performing a hard reset, by holding the home button and the lock buttons at the same time until an apple logo appears.

You really don't need to do "secure Empty Trash." Just empty the Trash. If you don't have permission to access some items that means you shouldn't be trying to delete them or you are trying to delete a file you don't own.
If your external drive is used only on your Mac, then it should not be formatted ExFAT. It should be prepared as follows:
Drive Partition and Format
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Try restarting the computer. Then again try to Empty the Trash. Do you still get the error? What are you trying to delete? -

You can recover any purchased songs that are on iPods using the procedure here.
If this is not available, you can ask Apple to allow you to download your music again. Note that, first, they DO NOT HAVE TO DO THIS. Purchase of music from the iTunes store entitles you to one download of that item. Second, note that if Apple does allow you to download a second time, they have to pay royalties on each download, whether you pay for it or not. Last, if they allow it, please back up your purchases.

I've tried and tried several times to Connect my device to my PC and follow the onscreen instructions in iTunes to download the update from Apple. Problem is iTunes doesn't connect to my iPad so that I can update to iOS 5. I don't see the iPad icon when iTunes loads. I have looked in my computer and see the iPad is recognized. Please helpWell the term "hotlined" I have never heard before. In any case many states (like NY) just passed regulatory powers to the State Public Service Commission of which it may be called something different in your state. You could file a complaint with them. Or file a complaint with your state attorney generals office, they also take on wireless providers.
The problem here is the staff you speak to are poorly trained, in days gone by it took one call to them and they pulled up your account and see the error and had the authority to remove any errors. They did not remove legitimate account actions, but used their heads instead of putting a customer off or worse lying to the customer.
Its a shame you have to go through what you going through.

I redirected iTunes to an external drive and moved my iTunes library and folder, but my hard drive is still low on space. How can I be sure that my music is all on the external HD ONLY, especially with the new iCloud technology? It doesn't look like I created any more space by doing this, AND I totally lost all my iTunes playlists. I'm not sure if because I added old library materials manually if this messed up my playlists, or if the new location is just not reading my moved library. In any case, I followed step by step instructions and found a few holes and thought I'd just "figure it out" but I guess I'm not as smart as I thought since I'm still scratching my head many hours later.

EaglerockerQuick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder.
If this is to a new computer and you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

When a pop up window comes up it is - search bookmarks and history window! I cannot log into my bank as login button should open new window to log in but I get the search page. I cannot see larger images as again I get the search bookmarks and history page etc. Happens on all options that should open new page. I was just wondering if when i export a file directly from iphoto onto a website, is the quality better than if i first save as a JPEG then export? Don't you have to make it a JPEG first when uploading to most websites, or can you leave it in iphoto?
