My new iPad mini will not charge when plugged into adapter. Any suggestions?
my new ipad mini will not charge when plugged into adapter. What should I try?
Does the charger get warm at all? Plug the cable into your computer with iTunes open. Does it say not charging.? If it does, the cable is good. The iPad will charge very slowly when pluged into your computer.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. Ipad mini will not charge or turn on
ipad mini will not charge or turn on, I have tried rebooting and also charging from wall. Apple icon doesn't appear even if I leave plugged in for an hour
Well my problem is now solved, both devices are bricked, Apple Store replaced both devices today, After talking with my daughter had the iPad mini was charging and it updated iOS8.1.3 and then bricked, tried all the things you suggested with both devices. Yes, I agree about not letting my devices die, this was the first time my phone had died in 5 months but I firmly believe iOS 8.1.3 was the cause of both devices demise. Apple checked both devices and promptly replaced both in about 30 minutes. I hope this is not the way Apple is planning on continuing with software updates. I have 10 apple devices and have been a strong supporter of their company, but these kind of half done updates are the reason I removed all Microsoft products from our household 7 years ago!

my daughter's i-pad mini will not charge up from the wall socket and it will not show itself on i-tunes via my pc... i substituted the power charger from my i-phone to no avail with the wall socket... seems like i read that the earlier i-pads have some problems with the lightning socket but can not remember exactly...there is no apple retail shop in the small city where i live but would travel to one if the fix is relatively quick or easy...otherwise, what can i do for diagnosis and repair?
Most likely your cable is bad and you need to get a replacement.

My ipad mini will not charge from my lap top, it will sync.
I can charge from a wall outlet. When I plug into my laptop, (upper right) states battery not charging. Plug into a wall outlet works fine.
A lot of computers don’t provide enough power to their USB ports to charge the iPad at a sufficient rate - it may still be charging slowly, and should be a bit quicker if the iPad's screen is off (if you leave it for a while and then disconnect it from your computer you may find that it's battery percentage has gone up). The wall charger is usually the most efficient way to charge an iPad.

My iPad 3 will not charge. It will only charge if I keep it powered off or on the lock screen. What do I do ?
You probably using a 5W charger. Use the 10W charger that comes with your iPad.

My Ipad min was working fine this morning when I noticed it need to be charged along with my Iphone. Put them both on chargers. Now Ipad min will not power or come out of sleep mode. tried pushing home botton and the sleep/awake button on the to right to no avail. Any Ideas what to try next?
Thanks
TomStandard troubleshooting...
1. Try a Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the slider. Slide to power off. Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the Apple logo.
2. Try a Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider if, it comes up. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
3. Remove all apps from Recently Used list...
- From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
- Tap and hold any icon in this list until they wiggle
- Press the red (-) to delete all apps from this list.
- Press the home button twice when done.
4. If still a problem restore with your backup.
5. If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
6. If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue. -
iPad mini will not let me access mail after latest software update, 6.1.2, seems to want me to sign in, but whenever I type my Id ad password it just says that the mail account already exists.. Still can't open my mail!

I Have the same issue on a brand new iPad mini 2. My battery is only lasting up to 5 hours. I went on chat with Apple last night and they said my battery is fine and its a Safari issue. I'm literally losing 1% every 3-4 minutes. I tried recalibrating my battery, signing out of iCloud, shutting off all locations, turning off background app refresh, restoring network settings, restoring all, and finally restoring from iTunes with no luck. This is just awful. I got this iPad so I could use it on my long flight for a trip I have coming up, and unfortunately, it's not going to last that long, plus I'm concerned about how many times i will be recharging my battery because of this since battery's do have a life cycle dependent on the number of charges. This is frustrating and needs to be fixed ASAP and addressed by Apple.
By the way, Apple told me to bring my device to the Apple Store because it's still under warranty. That's great and all, but I'm going to waste my time if there is no fix for this issue.
Ok so you want Apple to address the problem, but yet you don't want to take it to them just in case they can't fix it? What if they can fix it? Complaining here certainly won't fix it. -
The iPad Mini does not charge using a laptop
My brand new iPad Mini does not charge using my macbook pro, but it does when is connected to de ac power wall adapter !!!
That is the way is is supposed to work. Your MBP does not supply enough power to charge the battery efficiently. It may be charging, but at a trickle rate and it will show as not charging. That is why a power adapter is included with the iPad. Use it.
Read more about charging the battery here.

My iPad air will not charge connected to my monitor or my computer. Why?
My iPad air will not charge connected to my monitor or my computer. Why?
Short answer: Computer USB ports don't deliver as much power as the power adapter that comes with the iPad.
Details:
Full size iPads come with either a 10W or 12W power adapter. The mini comes with a 5W power adapter.
See iPhone, iPad, iPod: Using iPad Power Adapters
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4327
USB ports on computers deliver 2.5W (USB 2, 500mA x 5v) or 4.5W (USB 3, 900mA x 5v).
Newer Macs with high power ports can deliver 5.5W (1100mA x 5v).
See Apple Computers and Displays: Powering peripherals through USB
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4049
If you connect your (full size) iPad to a computer USB port, it may charge slowly, but since it's getting less than half the normal charging power, it may say "not charging". It may charge slowly or it may not depending on use (screen brightness, processor load, etc.). If you really want to charge it from the computer, put the iPad to sleep.
The best charging solution is to use the Power Adapter that came with the iPad. -

ipad mini will not alert for facetime or skype calls. Yes everything is on. No, mute is not on. Fed up!Hello, pleaseacceptthisalias.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would first start with forcing all applications to close and power cycle the device. Once this is done, have someone make a test call using these applications. If the issue persists, see the steps in the second article.

Troubleshooting notifications
Push notifications require an active Wi-Fi or cellular connection.
Note: Notifications use Wi-Fi only when a cellular connection is unavailable. Firewalls and proxy servers may affect your ability to receive notifications. For more information, see Unable to use Apple Push Notification service (APNs).
If you're not receiving notifications for a specific app, try these steps:
Verify that the app supports notifications.
After installing an app or restoring a backup to a different iOS device, open the app to begin receiving notifications. If the app requires entering or logging in to an account, you will need to do this before receiving notifications.
Check Settings > Notification Center to ensure that the app is configured for notifications. If notifications do not appear in the Notification Center, verify that the Notification Center setting for the app is enabled.
